I'm glad you accept that there is still a percentage that are teachable.

So your assignment should be finding yours from that little percentage. That is where God's help is required.

I believe you're doing lots to achieve your goal of 6/7digits that you're planning to run your family on. Then a lady from the larger percentage (you described) wouldn't worth those labour of yours.

The best way to find the worthy one is to belong to cliques of that little percentage of ladies that are teachable.

Meanwhile, stop making me feel I belong to the older generation, I'm in my thirties bro. grin

Kikiki you are still my bro no

What u are asking me to do is like writing jamb ooo

To find 1Ruby amongst stones no be here

Some look like it, but no be am ...

so that assignment no be here.

And I don't do trial and error,

I do one and only too that criteria alone is a big turn off esp in this part of the world

So E pass gulder ultimate search ...

Finally getting married is like trusting someone with your life.

But God de ... But I know when it is time, he will make all things buriful

Thanchu big bros grin cheesy

same here bro. can a guy dat is having a savings of 500k b thinking of marriage?

hello Mr. The amount of money stashed in your bank account is irrelevant for now. What should be doing right now is to ask yourself if you are matured mentally and emotionally enough to handle the conflict that may arise from the marriage itself.

Secondly, have you found your missing rib -- the one you are ready to spend the rest of your life with come rain come shine despite her weaknesses? If you havent, then bro keep searching.

And while doing the search. Dont forget to make more money as well and keep developing yourself too.

Best wishes when you finally find her and settle down.....

There is no 2m FD at diamond unless it's HIDA acct and I don't think you can get that 20k return on 2m monthly

I just remembered they have lowered the 5m minimum for FD. This is now close to TB that was way better than FD.

I already hav a bungalow which I let out n rciv 350k annually, i work wit a private firm n rciv 120k monthly after tax n pension, i am able to save 100k from dis amount n use 20k for myself monthly, my plan is to either save money n travel out or save up to 5m, use 1m to get a moderate car e.g. Camry, use anoda 1m for wedding n settle down with a lady day can also bring sometin to d table no matter how small. I'm 31 yrs old.
Pls evaluate my plans.

pedrilo:
I appreciate u sir. The goal is to marry at 35, that's if I dnt travel out of naija. No lady for now.

Well done sir! You have my respect.

I think you should spend a lot of time thinking and researching on the pros and cons of relocating abroad for a black man above 30. You may also want to visit some of the potential immigration destinations before making the final move. Here are some of my own findings:
1. Security: Crime rate is far lower in the western countries than in Nigeria.
2. Meritocracy: They place a higher premium on merit abroad than we do in Nigeria.
3. Economic opportunities (1): Assessing this is not as easy as one would expect. Overall, the economic opportunities in the West are much more than in Nigeria, but each person needs to consider his own peculiar situation. I find that quite a number of millenials in the West are experiencing a lot more economic difficulties than most of us would imagine. These are natural born citizens. I imagine things will be more difficult for an immigrant. Especially one without western credentials and work experience. These issues are less difficult to navigate if you start out in your teens or early twenties.
4. Discrimination: Although people are generally more tolerant in the West than over here, a person's peculiar situation needs to be factored in any decision making process. For formal, competitive, non-minimum wage jobs, you can be discriminated against because of your your age, your accent, and even for having an ethnic sounding name. There is also the issue of growing nationalistic/anti-immigrant sentiments in many western countries today. Are you truly ready to weather the potential challenges that could result within the next 10-15 years?
5. Marriage and Family: The institution of marriage and family is dying in the West. How much value do you personally place on marriage and family?
6. Economic opportunities (2): Most of the western countries have little growth potential. Emerging economies like Nigeria and the BRICS countries have much higher growth potential, meaning more opportunities for people with the right skills. There will be more investment in the Nigerian power sector within the next decade. This alone is expected to support industries and small businesses in reducing their operating costs. Lower costs usually means more incentive to invest. In addition, Dangote refinery is expected in 2019. If this refinery can be operated to full capacity within 3 years of commissioning, then it will be able to meet most of our fuel needs. This will greatly reduce the pressure on our forex, most of which comes from importation of petroleum products. Once that refinery is in full operation, and a few other refineries currently under construction are completed, we can expect a more stable Naira. It is important that in 2019, we vote people who can articulate their plans for facilitating the expected economic opportunities over the next decade, to ensure we make good use of them.

In Nigeria, it is easier for someone in formal employment to get a new job than a fresh job seeker. You're building skills with your present job. I think you can continue dilligently at it until you find a better one. Go online and look for courses on public speaking, business and marketing so you can better how you market yourself, build a personal brand and improve your commercial acumen. Check youtube, coursera.org, edx.org for these courses. You will be positioning yourself to take good advantage of the anticipated economic opportunities over the next 10 years. That's assuming you choose to stay in Nigeria. These skills are useful everywhere though. For someone not working yet, I'd have advised they learn as much as they can online, and use the education route to get the hell out of Nigeria as soon as they can for now. If need be, they can always return with sound credentials in future.

On savings, there's no much benefit in having more than your emergency fund in a savings account. This emergency fund can be 3-months worth of living expenses. You wouldn't want the value of all your savings to be eroded by inflation. You can keep the extra in risk free investments that closely track the inflation rate. Like government treasury bills for example. This way you avoid too much value erosion. You can also invest some of the extra in businesses or the stock market. But remember these are high risk investments. You can lose everything.

If you keep working, saving, investing, you are likely to grow both your active (salary) and passive (investments - benefits of compounding) income streams over the next 4 years and be in a good place to provide a comfortable living for your future family. Avoid unnecessary lifestyle inflation as your income increases. No matter how much pressure you receive from your future wife. The people we try to impress are really not important. Your financial security is. Especially as this is a country that has no social safety nets. Good luck to you.
