Brazil didn't list backup but if someone is injured another player will be drafted in,all these 30 man list na long thing,7 players will be omitted and you can already guess 5 of them right

They must submit the back ups to FIFA.

Nacho had 8 goals and 4 assists Egbon! angry The others are correct... and plsss are you now trying to say Kayode did better than them all? So the Ukrainian league is now bigger and better than The EPL, Russian League and Serie A abi?

Kayode had a poor first half of the season at Girona (no thanks to some game time ish too shaa). He is having a late resurgence at Shahktar. Let is rest Egbon. Kayode is still part of the fringes of the team. It is not over for him just as it is not over for Onyekuru and co.

Not true.

Ahmed Musa - 1465 minutes - 8 goals and 3 assists

Kelechi Iheanacho - 1289 minutes - 8 goals and 3 assists

Simy Nwankwo - 1134 minutes - 7 goals and 1 assist

Kayode Olanrewaju - 697 minutes - 3 goals and 2 assists. (he still has a match to play).

They are have not all done better than him neither did have a wonderful season than him. All are in the same category.

Egbon... if we go by "negative what IFs" all the time... we won't also be able to walk out our doors every morning because we would be asking "What if the sun turns extremely and dangerously supernova tomorrow thereby threatening our very existence?"

All these instances you raise are okay but dwelling on them like you expect them to happen is not healthy. It is almost as if you want it to happen so that your point can be driven home... but I have to tell you to please chill aiit. wink Our players will be fit for the mundial... all of them. The signs are good so far and hopefully it stays that way. The season is over. It is just the FA Cup final involving Moses and then the friendlies... chikena.

The case of Simy is Rohr trying out a different profile upfront. He's different to the likes of Ighalo, Nacho, etc. Someone that'll be useful in set pieces. Simy was chosen over Umar, Onachu, etc. Lokosa got the nod over Kayode, Nwakaeme, Onyekuru etc.
I can understand putting him in to appease NPL fans, I just feel maybe we could've used that spot to try out a creative tricky player like Kalu. I have only seen YT vids of him and haven't gleaned out enough to see how good he is.

Simy has a good chance of making the team, his competitor is not the strikers but Joel obi, if joel get injured the slot will go to the striking position

Nigerian Federation To Hand Over N1 Billion To Super Eagles Stars Next Week

Nigeria Football Federation boss Amaju Pinnick has stated that they are doing everything possible to motivate the Super Eagles stars before their trip to Russia for the 2018 World Cup.

The Nigerian Federation have made a request to Fifa for an advance payment of 2.8 million dollars (around N1 billion) to pay the national team players their bonus for qualifying for the tournament in Russia and they will receive the money next week at the start of their training camp.

''We are going to give them luxury chartered from one point to the other during our friendlies, luxury accommodation which we have done. Everything that we need to do we have done,'' Pinnick told Channels Television.
''As I speak we are on the verge of raising 2.8 million dollars, as soon as they come we hand it over to them.
''I recall when we landed in London, Onazi came to me and said 'president you guys are setting us up, so you people just want us to take all the blame'.''

At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the Super Eagles players boycotted a training session before the last sixteen clash against France so as to press home their demands for their unpaid World Cup appearance fee and the Nigeria Football Federation want to avoid these distractions in Russia.

I have followed Simy from his days in the second division of the Portuguese league. He was banging in goals there before he went to the first division of the same league. That period was during our preparation to the Olympics and it was suggested he made the list them but unfortunately, he was overloooked.

Moreover, I followed his progress in his first season in the Seria A last season but he didn't really get enough time and even this season. But if I have to rate his over all ability, forget, he is not better than Kayode.

However, I don't think he is good in the air neither the fast type of player you suppose but hopefully he brings something to the table..

Kayode is far better than Lokosa. I don't think the coach really wanted Kayode from the on set. It's an established fact.

I doubt you have seen lokosa play but sentiments won't allow you to be objective about issues like this

Nigeria's Provisional Squad: What Group D Rivals Are Saying About Moses, Mikel & Iwobi

The Nigeria Football Federation announced the country's 30-man provisional roster for the 2018 World Cup on Monday afternoon.
Major newspapers of our Group D opponents Croatia, Iceland and Argentina have had their take on Gernot Rohr's preliminary squad :

Argentina's largest newspaper Clarin stated: ''Between promising players and experienced, the Super Eagles Eagles have great offensive power. The names that stand out are those of John Obi Mikel (former Chelsea, today in the Chinese Tianjin Teda), Odion Ighalo (CC Chinese Yatai), Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow), Victor Moses (Chelsea), Alex Iwobi (Arsenal), and Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City).

''An important fact? These last two were the scorers of three of the four goals with which the Nigerian team beat Argentina, 4-2, in the friendly they played in November 2017.''

Croatia's leading sports newspaper Sportske Novosti focused on the players in the squad with World Cup experience, stating: ''Nigeria's Gernot Rohr nominated 30 players for the Mundial, featuring veteran names such as Victor Moses, Elderson Echiejile, Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo, John Obi Mikel and Eddy Onazi.''

Icelandic newspaper Morgunblaðið noted that the Nigerian Federation called up only thirty players: ''Nigerians, who are among the opponents of Iceland at the World Cup in Russia this summer, announced today a 30-man squad for the tournament, but they could like other nations register 35 names for the tournament''.

One thing I have noticed here is the fact that there are several football agents on this thread so when their players are not getting invites they start complaining about the coach's unfairness to good players. If there's one thing we must commend Rohr for, it has to be his fairness to in-form players. I remember this time in 2014, We were all confused as to whom will make Keshi's list because we know the politics indigenous coaches play with National team selection. It got to a point that the list was released at about 5:15 PM on a Monday because they were all fighting for their interests. Today, so many of us were able to predict the provisional squad cos of Rohr's sincerity which we haven't seen in a long while. Even Lagerback succumbed to pressure in 2010. Whether your player made the list or not is inconsequential. Let us rally round this team. There's a future ahead of the World cup so they will all get their chances. Good morning

Nigeria's "Not-on-30-man-list" First XI

Brown Ideye headlines Nigeria's Unselected XI for FIfa World Cup
By Colin Udoh, KweséESPN

Brown Ideye's international career is essentially on life support after he missed the cut for Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr's 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup.

Having been left out in similar circumstances for the 2014 edition, this will be heartbreaking for the Malaga striker, who engineered a move away from Chinese club Tianjin TEDA to give himself the best possible chance of catching Rohr's attention.

Sadly for him, one goal in 12 games in Spain is not the kind of return that gets attention or wins a ticket to Russia.

At 29, Ideye falls out of Rohr's preferred age range, especially as the German is in the process of developing a new breed of strikers, led by the likes of Victor Osimhen and Kayode Olanrewaju.

As such, Ideye leads our Super Eagles Unselected XI, who will be watching the action from their couches.

GK: Dele Alampasu

A lack of games at Feirense has come to haunt Alampasu, who was once considered to be the next in line of the young goalkeepers. As a matter of fact, Francis Uzoho, who now looks to be on his way to Russia, was back up to Alampasu at the Under-17 World Cup in 2013, which Nigeria won.

RB: Musa Muhammed

At the beginning of Rohr's tenure, Mohammed was regular fixture in the squad, despite a worrying lack of playing time at Istanbul Basaksehir. By the time he secured a loan move to Zeljeznicar and then Lokomotiv Plovdiv, Shehu Abdullahi, a converted midfielder, had annexed the right-back spot and established himself as first choice. And then Rohr found Tyronne Ebuehi...

LB: Kingsley Madu

Called up twice by Rohr, Madu was in the squad for the road win at Zambia and the 3-1 home win over Algeria in November 2016. Though impressive in his debut under Stephen Keshi, Madu failed to get any game-time under the German coach.
After failing to get any minutes, the Zulte-Waregem defender was cast off. His situation has not been helped by the emergence of Ola Aina and Bryan Idowu.

CB: Efe Ambrose

Once a stalwart and senior member of the Super Eagles, Ambrose scored in the opening World Cup qualifier against Swaziland and then gradually dropped off the radar. Fans were never quite convinced about him, and there always seemed to be concern about his propensity of calamitous errors, however unjustified.

CB: Orji Kalu

Stephen Eze's centre-back partner at second string level, the Enugu Rangers man formed a useful partnership with Eze at the African Nations Championship. But despite Rohr taking a good, hard look during the tournament, he obviously remained unconvinced.

MF: Anderson Esiti

Esiti played just one game for Rohr, Nigeria's opening World Cup qualifier against Zambia which the Super Eagles won 2-1, coming on for Brown Ideye with less than 20 minutes to go. That was to be all for the talented midfielder.

MF: Nosa Igiebor

Former Vancouver Whitecaps player Igiebor was also in the squad against Zambia but did not see any minutes, and his ill-advised reaction to not getting picked cooked his goose then.

MF: Chidiebere Nwakali

Two call-ups but zero minutes for the talented youngster. Present for the 1-1 draw at Algeria in the final game of the qualifying series, and the fairly recent 4-2 friendly win over Argentina, Nwakali looks more like one of Rohr's projects of the future.

FW: Henry Onyekuru

But for injury, Onyekuru would most probably have been in the provisional squad. Called up by Rohr, the forward was a late sub in the 1-1 draw against Algeria, but failed to see any minutes against Argentina. However, his nine goals in 19 games before his injury would have been enough to get him a spot in the provisional squad at the very least.

FW: Brown Ideye

For all of the intangibles make up a talented player, one goal in 2018 is a poor reflection on a striker in a World Cup year. Ideye will contend that his hustle, hard work and physical play helps others get on the scoresheet, and in fairness to him, in the one game he played under Rohr, it was his assist that led to Kelechi Iheanacho's goal. But in the end, the numbers spoke a different language.

FW: Obafemi Martins

It is uncertain if Obafemi Martins would have received a call-up from Rohr, mostly because of his age (33) and the fact that he had not previously featured for the coach. But the veteran striker's goal-return in China, seven goals in 13 games last season and a hat-trick on the very first game back, should have at least put him in the conversation. Sadly, an injury in April ended his season and made everything else irrelevant.

@Bolded... the logic is not cogent at all. Fact is that Shaktar is in Ukraine. Why changing logics now to "if Shaktar was in EPL, or serie A, they will make top 4"? Egbon, I will be honest. It is not true.

Nacho in the EPL, Simy in the Serie A, and Musa in Russian premier league all play in leagues bigger than the Ukrainian league and over the course the season they have better performances and stats compared to Kayode...

You are using Nacho's and Simy's full season stats in two of the biggest top five leagues in the world to compare with Kayode's half season stats in the Ukrainian league.. it is not a balanced analysis at all.

And Egbon... Kayode is still in with a shot in the GWG. He is still among the fringes.

Very true. He is just too sentimental about this Kayode. I can beat my chest and say that Super eagles have in abundance any quality or attributes Kayode is bringing to the team. Is it Speed? Kayode run reach Musa? Is it Techniques? He get am reach half of Ighalo, Moses or KC? Is it trickery? He dey learn where Simon and Ighalo dey. Is it goals? We all know the men who are currently on fire in Chinese league and Epl(Odion and KC). So wat exactly does Kayode bring dat is not already in abundance? But on Simy, we clearly have a man mountain of a goalscorer which we lack in the current Eagles. Someone who can use head to score goals. Dat is one weakness Ighalo has.
Ok quick question ===We can be needing a goal in the final 10-15mins and the team results to crosses into the 18yard box, who do u call Simy or Kayode?

Ebuehi Targets Fifth Super Eagles Cap Vs DRC: I'm Recovering Good

ADO Den Haag's Tyronne Ebuehi has dispelled fears about his
fitness before linking up with the Nigerian national team at their training camp in Uyo next week.

The Dutch-born right-back is on the list of 30 players summoned to a pre-World Cup get-together, from which 23 players will be selected to defend the colours of Nigeria in Russia next month.

ADO Den Haag celebrated Ebuehi's most important call-up to the Super Eagles to date but have noted that he was bothered by groin problems in the last weeks of the season.

The 22-year-old appeared in 28 games in the Eredivisie this term but last played for ADO Den Haag on April 14.

When asked if he would be available for the friendly against Democratic Republic of Congo, Ebuehi told AOIFootball : ''Yes. I’m recovering good, so no problem''.

Ebuehi made his full debut for the Nigerian national team in their 2-0 loss to Serbia at the Hive on March 27 and has figured in all of Nigeria's friendlies over the past year, taking his appearances to four.
