Hi guys,

Please, Is it save or a good idea to pick university of central Missouri (UCMO) over Arkansas State University?.. They both offer me the course I want which is MA in mass communication... it was university of central Missouri I use last year for my visa interview for spring but was denied and that was due to me not been able to answer the VO questions properly...

Thanks I have had my passport since January 2014 and it's actually a virgin passport. Please does the age of a passport have anything to do with issuance of visa? I would glad if we go private. I will share my transcripts later. Thanks so much

House please i need answers,...Is it true that courses that offers online and evening classes always get denials at the embassy? And also will it be included in the i-20?

Let me seperate this into two

If the course you applied to is an online program ....then no , F1 or J1 visa – Per U.S. immigration regulations, you cannot pursue a full online degree program. However, if you're enrolled in a full-time on-campus degree program, you can count one distance learning or online class (three credits) toward your minimum number of credits each semester.

If the program you applied to is a full time on campus but similar degree / course occurs in other school as an online program. Then that still fine as long as the program you applied for is a full time on campus

Side note** . I recall a transcript where the VO denied the person that the MSC in nutrition can be done online instead of as a full on campus. Maybe if the person had quickly explain the benefit of oncampus versus online that might have helped . So prepare for that question incase it is asked

I will try to interpret this. The U.S immigration laws are so complex that unless you understand them, you could make mistakes and put yourself in trouble when you panic and do something stupid.

When a student falls out of status, That's all there is to it: they're out of status. Some people think the day you violate your visa and fall out of status is the day you start accruing unlawful presence. NO! Unlawful presence starts counting when you get an order to leave/deportation order or when you apply for an immigrant benefit and it gets denied.

Let's use an example. A student is supposed to resume school on August 7, 2016. He didn't go to the school. He remains in the U.S. and works illegally. He has been out of Status, that's all. We're in May 2018. You'd think he has accrued 2 years of unlawful presence. He has not. Until he gets a deportation order, or he applies for an immigration benefit (for example green card) unsuccessfully, they don't start counting unlawful presence.

Now, the new law has fixed that. It has triggered counting unlawful presence the instant you fall out of status. In the past, they had to find you, and get a judge to issue you an order to leave voluntarily, or deportation order or a denied USCIS application to start the clock to count the days.

Do you understand so far? Good.

It's the same way a 3 year/10 year ban is only activated when you wanna return to the U.S. so if you've accrued unlawful presence for 6 months for example and you never leave the U.S. the ban doesn't come to effect. It is triggered when you answer calls from the village, visit them and then wanna get back into the U.S.

A summary of the new law: once you fall out of status, you start accruing unlawful status. Any unlawful presence over 180 days triggers a ban that works just like I explained above. In addition, 1 year of unlawful presence triggers a permanent ban. The bans also make you ineligible to try to get a visa, greencard, etc. This new law has blocked some paths.

When you wanna adjust your status and get a green card, there are two questions you'll have to answer. Have you ever violated the terms of your visa (been out of status)? And have you ever been ordered to leave/received a deportation order/applied for a green card (to calculate accrued unlawful presence)?

Let's see an example:

Suppose that same student in the above example marries here and wants to get a green card. Under the old law, he hasn't accrued any unlawful presence (I believe you understand how/why), but under this new law, he has accrued over 1 year, triggered a permanent ban which makes him permanently inadmissible and ineligible to apply for visa/green card.

Oh, I must add... Marrying a U.S. citizen makes them forgive a visa overstay (falling out of status), but this new law blocks that. Now it's not falling out of status anymore but unlawful presence/ban and even marriage can't save some people because unlawful presence/permanent bans rule you out of adjusting your status.

This is my opinion/interpretation. It's not legal advice and shouldn't be construed as one.

Anybody please. Mr Walspring..

My new passport is being processed cos I've paid and done Biometric. I want to book an appointment date since its taking longer than I expected. Can I use my Old passport Number to Book an appointment while I wait for the new one ? Or I wait till new one comes out ?

Don't use the old one and just wait until you get a new passport so that you won't vex for yourself later

Uncle it is best to jejely go take another 2*2 passport and fill another ds160, then login into your application page and edit your ds160. Don't go to the embassy with that ds160 with no picture ooo... Or else you might suffer a heart break and/lose about 5k to those embassy touts.

In addition to this, He won't even be allowed to do interview if photo is not uploaded and submitted on ds160.

Hello house,

I noticed there is no place to indicate that a parent is deceased on the DS160 form. Is it ideal to talk about my late dad during the interview if a question warrants it(even though I rightly filled in his date of birth in the form)? Hope it won't weaken my presentation in anyway...Pls I need proper guidance on this from a kind soul. Thanks

Lol.. You are funny grin grin grin

Some people talked about their dead parent in a way that it influence them to study and they got their visa while some did that and they dont get the visa

Good day fellows. Please, i have two VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS AND I WILL NEED YOUR HELP ASAP.

(1) I got a full phd funding and i planned going with my wife, but was told to provide prove for her funding. In the initial stage, i got the support from a relative which i sent to the school in order to have her i20 prepared. Therefore, the source of her funding on the i20 is my relative (but the person's name did not appear). However, i now have enough cash in my account to sponsor her. When asked at the VISA interview about her sponsorship, is it advisable i make use of my own account statement or i stick to that of my relative?

(2) Is it possible to use a fixed deposit account (fixed for 3 months and will mature before the start of my programme) as a prove of financial sponsorship?

I will be glad to get responses to this questions ASAP.

Thank you.
