Okay Egbon. But this will be my last on this kayode discussion shaa... it is already boring to others.

Now... for me I calculated more than 5 points even. Newcastle were going to pay a good price for him and his wages would have been quite good too. Now unfortunately, the final talks were never held and concluded if not we would be discussing now how Kayode made it into the EPL.

My responses are "Italicized"

Criteria 1:
The value of the transfer fee being paid for the player is in the top 25% of all transfers to Premier League clubs in the previous 2 windows
Point: 3 points...

Me: I doubt the potential Newcastle transfer fee would have been in the top 25% of the last two windows... so no points here.

Criteria 2:
The value of the transfer fee being paid for the player is between the 50th and 75th % of all transfers to Premier League clubs in the previous 2 windows
Point: 2 points

Me: The Newcastle deal would most likely have landed in this range... so 2 points earned.

Criteria 3:
The wages being paid to the player by the applicant club is in the top 25% of the top 30 earners at the club
Point: 3 points

Me: Yes I think so... this is Newcastle and not Man City. A player like Kayode with his pedigree as Austria's finest coming into a deal where a reasonable transfer price can seal his work permit chances; earning less than at most 6-7 players out of 25 in the Newcastle squad for that window is a keen possibility.... so yes another 3 points. Or you could rule this out and you will still have 5 points when I am done with the analysis

Criteria 4:
The wages being paid to the player by the applicant club are
between the 50th and 75th % of all the top 30 earners at the club
Points: 2 points

Me: Easily a yes... if not in top 25% within club wages list, then definitely within 50-75%. Two points here

Criteria 5:
The player’s current club is in a Top League[3] and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes
Points: 1 point

Me: Well... Austria is not among the top leagues in Europe so....*shrugs*

Criteria 6:
The player’s current club has played in the group stages or onwards of the Champions League, Europa League or the Copa Libertadores within the last 12 months and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes

Point: 1 point

Me: Ofcos yes. 1 point earned. no much talk. He featured in the Europa and did well prior to that transfer window and played more than 30% of domestic matches

So that is it Egbon... I retire from this issue now. Have a lovely remaining day and remember... Kayode is still young and his Super Eagles career is not done yet. Afcon 2019 is still there and more to come. Next season can be very promising for him having attained Double success with Shahktar. UCL football awaits him too if he remains with Shahktar. Kayode is among the fringe players of the Super Eagles team for now... he is in the mix. He only has to keep doing well. Simple.

forgiveness:

Can you please highlight the criteria he met to get 5 points that qualified him for a work permit based on the criteria up there? Thanks

Oh please, give me a break! If he's not a tribalist what is he? Can you name a single non-Yoruba player that either Forgiveness or his alter-ego Komekn has ever promoted on this forum? Please name one! The man is a tribal chieftain and I will tell him that to his face if I meet him. I don't give a rat a$$. He and his ilks are the problem with Nigeria today!

I totally gave up on this dude when he kept promoting Dele Alampasu. Someone who has never played even a single game for his clubside. Someone who's been given an invite time and time again but failed to impress. Now, on what basis would any sane human being keep hyping him here, as if he's Nigeria's best goalkeeper since Emmanuel Okala

Now, the flavor of the month is seems to be Olarenwaju Kayode. I practically watched ALL the games Kayode played for Girona this season and I can tell you without any fear of contradictions that Kayode is an average player! There is NOTHING special about him and he's way below several other players in the pecking order. It just staggers my imagination why an intelligent guy like SuperNerd would decide to engage Forgiveness. Are you that bored or something

O pari

Old Striker. With all due respects to you and not on the side of Forgiveness, whether he's a tribalists or not I don't know but what I do know is besides Fred Onyedinma that Chrismario wrote below, Forgiveness on this forum has canvassed for
Efe Ambrose, Josh Onomah, Even Simi Nwankwo (he talked about Simy being given a chance within the last month). To his credit when some people said Eze is better than Omeruo, he called them out immediately and stated that there is no basis for comparism. He is also a fan of Joel Obi. For all it is worth while I totally support the team, the coach and the team list truth be told a player like Ajagun was never given a chance, I agree everyone can't make the team. Also to Kayode's matter, I feel his case is like that of a person that they want to burn and he also went to rob his body with palm-oil. It is on record that he destroyed the sports admin career of Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi one of the Godfathers of football admin in Nigeria, maybe the beef is still there with NFF but his move to Man City and failed loan at Girona nailed the coffin for him plus getting suspended for fighting attacking a referee is a bad disciplinary issue. If he's truly the age he claims, I believe with time he would break into the team.

I blame Onyekuru's coach to an extent.. The man simply did not like Onyekuru. Even when Onyekuru was scoring all the time, he was always criticized.

On his return from injury, you would imagine that the coach will be eager to ease his top scorer in but he simply refused to play him even when they were losing and needed some spark.

I hope he does not stay with Anderlecht under Hein.

Buhari approves release of National Stadium, Surulere to Lagos

National Stadium, Lagos.

By Kazeem Ugbodaga

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release of National Stadium, Surulere to Lagos State Government for retrofitting and upgrading to host international sporting tournaments, the State Government said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the ongoing annual Ministerial Press Briefing at Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr Kweku Tandoh, said it was gratifying to report that after series of back and forth, action would commence next week on paperwork for the formal handover of the facility to the State Government.

Responding to a question on the delay in handover of the stadium to the State Government for upgrade from its present state of decay, Tandoh said the approval for the release was given verbally by the President during his visit to Lagos few weeks ago, while terms of the agreement would now be based not on concession but complete release to the State Government.

Giving details, Tandoh said: “You would recall that the Lagos State Government signified interest in taking over completely the National Stadium and the Governor did not just say it, he actually met with the Minister of Sports and a tour of the facility was carried out.

“One thing later developed and there were signs and signals that the Governor received that they were not actually ready to hand over the Stadium to us rather it seems as if they just wanted a concession agreement where the State Government would spend the money, get it fixed while the Federal Government would still be in place but that is not what Lagos State Government wants.

“So, during the visit of the President to Lagos State few weeks ago, the Governor at the State Dinner was able to grouch the intention again and he mentioned it in his speech to the President and the President verbally gave approval that that was going to be in place. Just yesterday, the Governor directed that I proceed to Abuja next week to deliver some communications that are necessary to put in place a formal handover of the National Stadium to Lagos State Government. We are grateful that this time they will give it to us on the terms that the Lagos State Government has requested for,” he explained.

On activities of the Commission in the last one year, Tandoh said in line with the commitment of the present administration towards provision of world class sporting facilities, approval had already been given for comprehensive renovation of Campos Mini Stadium in Lagos Island, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere; Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba; Isheri Football Field/Swimming Pool, and Ijede Mini Stadium, Ikorodu.

He said both the Teslim Balogun Stadium and Campos Mini Stadium would have their artificial turf replaced with natural grass, while the remaining seats of Agege Stadium would be covered in addition to the upgrade already done in preparation of the facility for Confederation of African Football (CAF) matches.

He said within the period under review, the State Government awarded contracts for transformation of Onikan Stadium to an all-covered ultra-modern international stadium with FIFA certified artificial turf and multipurpose arena for entertainment concerts with capacity to accommodate 10,000 people, while preliminary works had already commenced on the construction of Maracana Stadium in Ajegunle.

He said it was also significant to report that the State Government has concluded plans to establish three viewing centres across the State for fans to watch world cup matches free of charge.

“Just yesterday, Governor Ambode approved that we should establish three viewing centres in Mushin, Alimosho and Ajegunle. The centres will be in place for the duration of world cup and will serve as venues where people in those areas can watch world cup matches free of charge,” Tandoh said.

He said approval had also been given for the employment of full time coaches as well as contract coaches, while training grants were also paid for a total of 300 state athletes in individual sports, combat sports, team sports, racket sports, traditional sports, para sports and deaf sports.

He added that as a result of the deliberate policies put in place, many of the athletes produced at sport tournaments organised in the State eventually ended up representing the country at international tournaments, just as he assured that government would continue to put efforts in place to promote sports at the grassroots.

On the street soccer championship, Tandoh said the sponsor of the tournament initially pulled out of the sponsorship due to financial constraint, but that talks have been activated to reintroduce the competition, among other local soccer championships.

Besides, he said as part of efforts to reposition the Commission, a four-year strategic sports development plan had already been approved for development within 16 weeks in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers Limited, adding that the plan would engender development of a strategy plan, staff capability assessment and performance management framework development.

You could see clearly that this is the kind of 'Coach-agent' list Amokachi earlier talked about. What was a player like Odunlami doing on that list? At the time, Nigerians were complaining about Agbim's gross incompetency but No! Keshi will still invite him for reasons best known to him. 2014 isn't so much a long time but how many of those players still play active football now? Uche Nwofor just returned to Npfl at his young age. He made the list without a club. Trust me that list raised eyebrows because it was fraught with the Nigerian 'man know man' policy. Kudos must once again be given to Rohr. Good evening erudite analysts.

Kudos must once again be given to Rohr. Good evening erudite analysts.

Honestly the list was very biased.... What are names like uchebo(flavour)....Gabriel Reuben.... Nwofor uche...doing on this list.
.
.only babatunde Micheal brought some spark to the team as a new player.....
Kudos should be given to gernot rohr for not allowing the NFF to dictate for him!

Babatunde? Did he really earn his call up then? Where is he now?

Away from our Kayode argument

We seem to have forgotten a department in the Eagles team that needs urgent attention. Last I checked the goal keeping department was a source of concern to all of us with many arguing about who mans our goal post. Seriously, I feel Dele Ajiboye shouldn't be dropped. I've watched him from age grade competitions through to his recent show at CHAN and I must tell you for free that he's good. Maybe better than Ezenwa too. His case is simply like that of someone without human support and relying on grace to get to the apogee of his career. I remember same scenario played out when Enyeama came to Enyimba with the likes of Joetex Frimpong, Ndidi Anumunu and Obinna Nwaneri in 2000. Enyeama was better than the number one GK but nobody gave him a chance. Little chance he had was the breakthrough. In Our Eagles case, I feel Akpeyi should go to Russia cos of his experience while Ajiboye stands as number 2. Number 3 should be between Ezenwa who's been a fluke GK and Uzoho who's largely inexperienced. I know a lot of you might see things differently but I know where I'm coming from. Sentiments should be attached. The World Cup isn't a place to build a GKs confidence. That's the biggest stage in football. My two cents tho

Simple.

As you rightly said, 'I think'. Meaning it is just your opinion and you don't have facts to back them up.

He can never meet criteria 1,2,3,&5.

1. Manchester City offered more in terms of transfer fee yet, he didn't meet the requirement.

2. Newcastle didn't offer him 25% of the top 30 earners in the EPL. Do you think Newcastle offered better wages than city in the first place? If man city offered better why didn't he get work permit since he met the requirement?

You don't have facts on ground. From a reliable source Guardiola told him personal that he fits his team style of play and he will bring him to his team once he meets the requirements. Will he bring himself low because of Kayode? N..O NO

Onyekuru is angry with Anderlecht. He feels his world cup chance was taken away from him

Onyekuru not to World Cup and away with purple-white?

Henry Onyekuru (21) is deeply disappointed. The Nigerian national coach yesterday announced a 30-man preselection for the World Cup and Onyekuru is not there. That's why the dribbler in Ghent was also very angry on Sunday evening when he fell out of Anderlecht's selection and had to take a seat in the stands. Onyekuru considered himself fit to at least fall in and wanted to have one chance to show it to his national coach. It also blurred the relationship with Anderlecht. RSCA has an agreement with Everton to rent Onyekuru one year longer, but the player has to decide for himself whether he will stay. Because he is tactically not always on the same line with Vanhaezebrouck, he had doubts and now that his World Cup opportunities were taken away from him, he doubts more to stay in Brussels.

The team lacked depth.

comparing the present team to that team , do you think there is a replacement for every player in the first eleven , in case of unforeseen circumstance ?

to me i am still looking for Mikel replacement , even Leon Balogun's replacement is not there
