IS IT SAFE TO USE BABY POWDER ON MY BABY? No, it is not advisable to use baby powder on their skin. Even small amounts of powder can irritate a baby's tiny lungs. It can lead to breathing trouble and serious lung damage for babies if they inhale the particles. (And it's hard to keep powder out of the air when you're using it). This is especially true of talc-based powders, with their small, easily inhaled particles which can cause irritation in the lungs and inflammation leading to additional respiratory issues. ★HOW TO USE POWDER★ If you decide to use powder, do so sparingly. Put the powder on your hands first, away from your baby, not directly on or near her. Keep the powder container well out of reach of your baby and of any older brothers and sisters, too. Teach whoever helps in taking care of your baby how to apply powder on baby's body please. Don't allow small hands to get hold of it or knock it over and produce a cloud of powder that could be inhaled. Note: To prevent skin irritation, don't allow powder to build up on your baby's buttocks, wash away any powder that may have accumulated at every diaper change especially in the folds of your baby's skin. Dry up excessive water. 1 Like |

★★★Tips for pregnancy★★★ DO's OF PREGNANCY!! -Do take folic acid -Do stay active. -Do think about what you eat. -Do monitor your baby's movements. -Sleep on your side with a pillow between your legs. -Bend your knees (squat) to pick things up from the floor or low places. -Use a step stool to reach high shelves. -Drink plenty of fluids, preferably water. -Take off rings if they get too tight on your fingers. -Sit or stand with your shoulders and back relaxed -When sitting, keep your feet flat on the floor. -Be aware that your center of gravity and balance point is changing. -Place one foot on a low step stool if you are standing for a long period of time. -Use a desk chair that fits you comfortably and supports your lower back. -Adjust your car seat and steering wheel to accommodate your changing shape. -Wash your hands thoroughly when handling uncooked meat. -Limit caffeine intake and cut out alcohol and tobacco. DON'Ts OF PREGNANCY!! -Hold your breath while lifting or lift heavy loads. -Hunch over your desk. -Sit for periods longer than 30 minutes without taking a stretch break. -Sit with your knees crossed. -Clean kitty's litter box, or do garden work without wearing gloves. -Strain to have a bowel movement. -Fully immerse in a Jacuzzi or hot tub -OVEREXERT! If you become too tired or a little short of breath, LISTEN to your body and rest. -Don’t overheat. If you’re hot, your baby is hot, which can lead to problems you don’t want to deal with. -Don’t stress. Easier said than done, am I right? -Don’t go on a diet. Pregnancy is not the time to try out the latest fad diet. -Don’t take over-the-counter medications. Always ask your doctor before you pop those pills. -Don't skip your antenatal appointment. Wish you all safe Pregnancy, safe labour and delivery. 4 Likes |

WHAT CAUSES COLICKY ABDOMINAL PAIN IN BABY'S Experts believe that colic is the result of an allergy to milk protein (or lactose intolerance) in formula-fed baby and may also be a reaction to specific foods in mom's diet in breastfed babies. Baby's colic may happen as a result of crying because they tend to swallow air through process of crying. ★Signs of colic pain in baby's. -Intense crying bouts -Crying in the late afternoon or evening that lasts several hours -Your baby's face being red and flushed when they cry. -Your baby clenching their fists, drawing their knees up to their tummy, or arching their back while crying. It starts when infants are about 3 weeks old and ends at about 3 months, when they are better able to soothe themselves. HOW TO SOOTHE BABIES WITH COLIC ★Do not wait until your baby is so hungry that he's upset and crying before feeding begins. ★Swaddle her snugly in a blanket. ★Lay her across your lap and gently rub her back. ★Put a warm water bottle on your baby's belly. ★Hold your baby upright when feeding to prevent them swallowing air. ★When you're breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, try to keep the baby's head higher than her stomach ★Burp them often, and especially after a feed. ★Feed smaller amounts more frequently. There are some colic infant drops that are safe to use to relief colic pain in babies. You can give your baby infacol drop, it's safe for babies with colic pain. The normal dose is one dropper full (0.5ml) which is given before each feed for several days, but don’t worry if you forget one or more doses. *First shake the bottle *Draw up one dropper full by squeezing the bulb twice, wiping any excess Infacol off the outside of the dropper back into the bottle *To administer the dose, squeeze the bulb and release the liquid onto the back of your baby’s tongue. ★★HOW YOU HEAL FASTER AFTER A C-SECTION★★ Now, you finally get to meet your pumpkin who’s been growing inside of you for the last 9-10 months. With c-section, you’ll need more time to recover than you would after a spontaneous vaginal delivery. There are two types of c-section: 1.The bikini cut (it's at the tip of the bikini line) 2.The vertical cut (straight, more noticeable) After the surgery, the cut is always covered with a sterilized bandage to reduce the chance of infection. There is some hardness underneath your incision, and that's very normal, it's called the healing ridge. HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THE INCISION 1. To avoid swelling, some hospitals provide ice packs . 2. After you leave the hospital, make sure water does not get to the cut. 3. Do not take a proper shower for the first two or three days, all you will have to do is use a clean towel with soap and clean the whole of your body. 4. When you get to the incision area, make sure water does not get to it in any way so as to make sure it heals faster. 5. Do not apply creams or ointment to the incisions until your Doctor think it has healed enough and that won't be until about 6weeks after surgery. 6. Try to sleep whenever your baby naps. 7. Keep all your supplies close by, so you don't need to be getting up unnecessarily. 8. Whenever you have to sneeze, laugh or cough, hold your abdomen to protect the incision site. 9. Drink plenty of fluids, especially water. You need extra fluids to boost your breast milk supply and to avoid constipation. 10. Eat a variety of foods especially vegetables, it will keep your baby healthy and help you get stronger. 11. You should avoid lifting anything heavier than your baby, no swimming, no driving, no use of tampons and no sexual intercourse. 12. Slow down on anything you are doing in the house, avoid doing any strenuous things that can rupture your incision. 13. Avoid going up and down stairs as much as you can. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND: ★You will be given appointments on when you are to come for follow up assessment of the incision site. ★Your Doctor will check to see if water has not been getting to the incision area. ★You will go for such check-up close to 3 or 4 times before the end of six weeks and the bandage on it will be changed at every visit. ★Other thing that can affect how your incision heals is your weight. ★One month after surgery, your incision may look a little darker than it did at first, which is a normal part of the healing process. C-section scars tend to fade and shrink over time. ★You'll know within six months to a year postpartum what your scar is going to look like. 6 Likes 3 Shares
