I understand and feel you from one angle. I went to boarding house too. Anytime i went home for holidays, things were done around the House for me as we had three maids.

Then I met a man. He came to our house to ask for my hand. I was just 21! I could not even boil water talk more of making pap. I did not even know how the cooker in our house works. All I could operate was the microwave. Warm my freezer food and eat. What is washing dishes? I hated the kitchen! It was so bad.

I told uncle husband that I cannot marry o. I cannot cook tea. The man was adamant. Married me like that. First 3 months he was cooking and washing dishes. Till one day he fell ill. Okay!
I saw him make Eba and okro few times. He was starving around 10pm. I made garri and water with okro and water. As in, u could count the okro in the water grin and the Eba was like over soaked garri.
After he got well, we would stay in the kitchen together. When he's putting salt, I'll add maggi. Thats how he taught me how to cook. Now who born him near my kitchen? I'm now his master. There's nothing I can't cook, I bake too. My okro soup beat his own 25times over. I'm bad like that. cheesy
So you will get over it with time. I believe so. If I can cook, me?! Then u can.
I respect your husband o, he must really be a matured man to have married you like that. he really loves you.

My dear, there is nothing bad in going to boarding school. Also, its a thing of the past. This is for you " The beauty of life is to move on, it will always end in praise". And don't forget to come back and testify by the time you become a great cook and even contesting for " knorr cooking contest".

Cheers.
Thanks for your words sad

UWC, as u can see the experience shared by that sis, you too can do better.
No one brought cooking skills from heaven, we all learn it one way or the order.

Then I don't think you are ready to learn, just pray your husband will allow a maid to cook his meals, because me I won't tolerate it, I can't marry a lazy wife. grin

You just dey talk nonsense since....

No man will tolerate a woman that can't cook? Are you in the 80s where people marry people cos of their cooking skills?

You better grow up before you get married...

Biacan, I didn't learn to cook till I was in the University and had to fend for myself and I was a day student during my Seconds School days o. My mom just never wanted us to get into the kitchen cos we were very rascally, I guess she didn't want us to burn the house down cheesy

My roomie taught me to make the baddest ogbono soup ever. The first time I ever made coconut rice, I added the shaft! as in the cut up one o not even blended. My beans was always hard and too salty, my ewedu was never well shredded, you would actually pick whole leaves out, my okro was chunky and watery, only my white rice and stew was safe for consumption and then I was a pro at Eba. But by the time I was graduating, omo I was a pro at almost all kinds of Igbo and Yoruba soups (my roomie was Edo but we loved to experiment), I could cook over 7 variations of rice (coconut, fried, jollof, spinach, palm oil, curry and concoction) and my porridge was fantastic.
ff to when I got married, I declared to my husband, I'm a decent cook but I hate cooking angry, I hate the kitchen....if I could I would avoid entering that one room in the whole house. I don't eat much and can survive on nothing for 2 days plus i love eating out. Served my MiL a very tantalising soup but she said she doesn't eat Eba, that's the only swallow I could actually make back then, so one of husby's cousins taught me to make amala and semo. I learnt to make wheat and poundo and even fufu all by myself.
The day my husband took me to his favorite peppersoup joint, I was like this is nonsense you're eating here na, he just yinmued then I made peppersoup for him and he was like "let's open our own peppersoup joint, I swear you'll beat them hands down!" cheesy. I had to even hold a small class for my colleagues.

Today, I can cook anything. All I need to know is see the finished product and figure the ingredients out.
I can cook a whole cow and bags of rice (the only thing I run from is party semo or amala cos of the turning). Make a big party pot of porridge without breaking a sweat. My husband's family love party too much.
I still don't like cooking (covers face). I pay someone to cook my kids breakfast and drop it at their school everyday then I wiggle my way out of making breakfast for my husband some days and other days I bombard him with breakfast and lunch even before I leave home by 6am.

Women that are great cooks and even host their own cooking shows have lost their men to women that can't boil water. Learn to cook for yourself and not to catch or keep a man. If food was the secret then why do we have men that will vex for you and your food join sef? Men that will stop eating at home.....lol.
If food was the secret why do we have rich men that hire chefs and cooks for their wives?
A good man isn't hard to please, he just wants you to be happy and to be better, you as his partner knows what he wants best. If he is a foodie but cannot afford a chef then roll your sleeves and get into the kitchen, if he can, good for you!
Food will only keep your man for so long.
