Unless there is something special about Arteta that we don't know, I don't see why we even consider him an option

Rookies who would be happy with a £50m transfer budget
Although Wenger was past it, a great deal of that came from working with a board like this over the years

Now we know where the real problem came from
Wenger tried if this is the sort of rubbish he had to deal with

These idiots are looking for Yes men, who will be overwhelmed with a £50m transfer budget and we expect to compete with teams spending 4 times that amount.
Abeg let us get relegated and be done with this facade called Arsenal

To be honest, appointing Arteta is an unnecessary gamble. Benitez would have been a better candidate if they're scared of splashing the cash the likes of Enrique and Allegri would demand.

I just don't understand what's going through Gazidis head.

It's really a shame.
I'm just fed up with Arsenal.. I mean, why Arteta for Christ sakes... nobody should even give me the Zidane crap..

At least RM are a huge spending club...
The board just want somebody they can cajole and puppet about.

Bunch of crazy lots.

None. I have maintained my stance about rewarding inexperienced ex players with the head coaching role when Wenger leaves. It would become double tragedy for me considering it was what dug Milan into the mess we are currently getting out of after nearly 6 seasons.

At worst, maybe Arteta? None, infact.

Roland17:

If we don't have the financial commitment from the board to chase the best players in the world then there is no need getting Enrique.

Enrique will struggle if we maintain the same frugal stance in the transfer market.

When I was predicting the future, some folks were arguing with me, now reality is staring us in the face. The board is frugal and non-repentant, no popular/ experienced coach will risk his legacy for such.

I am guessing Benitez would have needed money himself or maybe they wanted to test a younger person who was willing to work with little money before they could trust him with a big budget. It is also possible that they were not convinced with the pitch they received from the appealing managers. I don't think Arsenal can compete without spending..but a better coach than Wenger could have at least done a Tottenham league wise.

Baba, the useless board of Arsenal is the problem and I have been saying this forever. I am not going to write off Arteta, especially considering he was tutored by one the best coaches in the game. However, this has nothing to do with the pitch they received from other coaches, except those coaches made it clear they were not looking to be placed under a tight transfer budget. Successful/ experienced coaches have a lot of ego and while Arsenal is still a big club, it is a huge risk. I am not even sure we reached out to those experienced names.

The board has nothing to lose by appointing Arteta, because if it pans out well, they would take credit but if it fails, they would claim Arteta was a transition plan.

And it is unfortunate because you are right. I read somewhere that Viera was insulted by the courtesy call they dished out to him and I am now forced to accept that they are not willing to spend.

Arsenal by every standard should be a better job than Chelsea because Roman is erratic but if they want to be this frugal, then the future is going to be bleak. I don't question what Arteta is going to do going forward or in midfield as he played the game like a cerebral player. But the defense, keeper and discipline amongst some of the players? Money is the first solution to those.

don't pretend you don't know what's getting people all worked up. People are not wailing because wenger is sacked, most aren't just happy with the choice of the successor.
