Ike kept the score line respectable for us.

Yes

We barely attacked. The gulf in quality was too much.

Good my brother.. but who will drive these kind of changes? People are not just going to start doing it by themselves. jingles on radio and TV won't.

Against the Argies at the 2002 WC, Ike was phenomenal, wave after wave of attack, it was Ike that saved us from chopping more than 1 goal. Fast forward against Sweden, Ike Anobi passed the ball to the Swedes in the name of taking a kick-out. We really had the game under control and at the end that nailed the coffin on the head for us and end of the tournament for us.

Overall he was a good goalie for us. I won't call him out on the nations cup loss to Senegal as he had just suffered a concussion and we still risked putting him on the field.

Actually, that England group in 2002 was comparatively a very easy group. The goal was for England to qualify behind Argentina. FIFA knew that the Nigerian team was in disarray and nothing much was expected from them. The 2002 Sweden World Cup wasn't one to scare nobody. Zlatan was young and inexperienced. Freddie Ljungberg was a little above average player. Henrik Larsson - average. ON paper, who do they really have exactly to challenge England?

O pari

So allegedly the draws have been made to favour England right? In 2002 England had tried and failed to beat Sweden in 13 attempts over the preceding 34 years! If there was 1 team England fans did not want it was Sweden even Sven Goran Eriksson suggested this in a subtle manner back then. So back to your suggestion/claim, the draw was rigged for England to face their bogey team so they can progress easily. Ironic no?

For you to then say Sweden wasn't one to scare nobody is so off point I won't argue this point with you further bro.

Etebo In Las Palmas Squad Vs Girona, Set To Return After Injury
May 18, 2018 3:20 pm

Nigeria midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is set to return to action for Spanish club Las Palmas in Saturday’s LaLiga clash against Girona after returning to training following a muscle problem, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Etebo missed Las Palmas’ last weekend’s clash against Eibar as a result of the injury.
The former Warri Wolves player is however set to return to action for the relegated club in their last game of the season after being named in their 18-man squad for the game against Girona billed for the Estadio de Gran Canaria.

The midfielder who is on loan at Las Palmas from Portuguese club CD Feirense has made 13 league appearances for the club since his January move.

Etebo has been included in Nigeria’s 30-man provisional squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup released by head coach, Gernot Rohr on Monday.

His Las Palmas teammate Ezekiel Imoh was however not included in squad.

Idowu, Obi, Simy Doubtful For DR Congo Friendly; Mikel, Ighalo Out6 May 17, 2018 10:45 pm

Super Eagles left-back Bryan Idowu is set to miss the team’s farewell friendly game against the DR Congo on Monday May 28 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt due to FIFA’s new rule for players listed to play at the 21st World Cup starting next month in Russia.

FIFA have told all 32 partcipating teams to ensure players listed for the World Cup observe a 10-day rest after their last game of the season as a means of ensuring they stay fresh.

Idowu is likely to join 14 other Eagles stars who will miss the game due to the rule as the Russia-based defender is set to feature for his club Amkar Perm when they take a 2-0 lead to the Otkritie Arena on Sunday to play hosts FC Tambov in the second leg of the Russia Premier League qualification play-offs.

Idowu was on for all 90 minutes in the first leg played on Thursday at the Zvezda Stadium.

If he gets to play on Sunday, it means he will be ineligible for the DR Congo game.
Already out of the game is team captain Mikel Obi who will be playing on Friday in the Chinese Super League as well as striker Odion Ighalo who will be in action with his Chinese club Saturday.

Italy-based duo of Joel Obi of Torino and new invitee, Simeon Nwankwo, are also doubtful for the game if they should play for their respective Serie A clubs this weekend.

In as much as I appreciate Moses for his his contribution to our qualifiers I still no feel that guy. His lateness to camp and attitude during games, how he holds the ball and drain the energy of other players is very depressing. And honestly I value Ighalo over Moses in the attack. Ighalo is pure business and disciplined.
Moses is not the kind of player you'll expect to arrive camp early. Don't forget he is a family man and this too can be a reason...

But when it comes to the job, you can always trust him to get the job done and that's all that matters.

Those that followed African football in the 1980s and early 90s will know Thomas Nkono very well. Yes he was 3rd choice to Antoine Bell and Jacques Songo'o but he had in his bag several years of experience as a top flight goalkeeper. He was playing for Espanyol as at the 1990 WC. At that stage Nkono had seen it all o. No be be say na Rookie him be before them make him first choice. His case is different from that of Uzoho o.
Thomas Nkono was all time Cameroon best keeper.

He made his debut in 1976 and left the stage after Italian 90 and got a dramatic recalled to 1994 WC squad as a back up to Bell.

Throughout his career with nafional team he was always number one,so comparison with Uzoho should not arise, is an insult cos this was a keeper that had over 241 appearances for Espanyol between 1982 -1990.

The best keeper in Africa football history.

Look, if he cannot face criticisms then he is not ready as a SE Goalkeeper. If you know he is that feeble minded why canvass for him?

Do you know the weight of responsibility resting on a goalkeeper at a WC? You think it is just about staying on the line and "paring" balls. You saw how uncoordinated and destabilized Uzoho was in our last two friendlies. Goal keepers improve over years and not just within weeks.

I just pray we have not shot ourselves on the foot already in that department.

We are taking a very huge gamble, I hope you know that.

I personally do not feel comfortable with gambles.

Chief you are still on this goalkeeper matter, better listen to Mujtahida, just too late to complain but one thing is glaring the Rohr technical led team did not handle the issue very well.

When you marry an orobo you can be very busy because that woman on its own is alot of work.... grin grin grin

To be more serious, with Mikel, Ighalo , Iwobi and Iheanacho we dont need Victor Moses with his excessive ball holding

Honestly, Uruguay are not that good. They have never been that good. Ghana totally outplayed and technically defeated them in 2014 (if not for Luis Suarez's blatant cheating), even with Diego Forlan in the team. Hence, England were expected to beat Uruguay even with Suarez and Cavani, so I don't see that as a tough group at all.

I have never rated Uruguay. That's why I would expect Egypt to top that group A in Russia. That group is a walkover, IMHO.
