Icon4s: Na lie abeg... The same Rufai that was wonderful in that 94 Bulgaria clip... Is the same rufai that was in goal during France 98 against Denmark... Same Peter Rufai.... So plsss drop the throwback... After all he too was even more experienced in 1998... 1 Like

My brother I will definitely return but I need to put thing in other and my NZE NA OZO INITIATION IS GEARING UP...I must wear that red cap and give my wife the ivory title. If I die fighting for my fatherland I will die a happy man. What good is your death if you died peacefully while your house was on fire? |

Pinnick has already posited the game will go on regardless because most of their players would be flying in from abroad and they would still take the necessary precautions anyway. That your message don fall for deaf ears be that. Icon79: |

Martz101:Yea but Nkono was Cameroon number one in 1990 cos he kept most of their qualifying matches. I remeber he was in goal against Nigeria in a make or mar last WC qualifier match prior to 1990 WC. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 6:07pm On May 18, 2018 |
Kog45: I understand your point. And I agree that discusing it or not cannot change anything. We don't have it we don't have it. if we can make comparisons of the quality of our outfield players of the 90s with the current ones why can't we also make comparisons of our 90s goalies with the current goalies too. Or is it now a taboo to discuss the goal keeping department? And I agree with you that Rohr didn't handle the issue well. We are watching and waiting but know that no player is free from critism ones you have put on the national team jersey. If any player does well, we give him credit else we bring out the cane. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 6:16pm On May 18, 2018 |
TheSuperNerd: So you would have preferred Baruwa or Willy Opara to have kept goal in that WC? At least I posted the throw back Videos of the Yuguslavia and Holland games where Baruwa and Opara were disgraceful. Rufai was the best option. That was the plain truth. France 98 is just a typical example of what will happen when your goalkeeping department has question marks |

Good! He was the best option and we still got banged 4-1 by Denmark. And what question marks? You just said Rufai was the best option naa. Rufai had even been at the previous WC in 94... So yeah... Best option. And he got walloped big time. Case closed. Icon4s: 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd: There are no question marks about our goalkeeping position? OK. I hear. Imagine the kind of tournament we would have had if Baruwa or Opara had been saddled with the responsibility. Rufai was the lesser evil. Aiyenugba would have been a lesser evil than Uzoho. I wish the young man well but I don't trust him well enough. O pari( in icon79's voice) |

Everyone thinks Germany is going to win this World Cup, but I beg to differ. Having looked at their team list, Germany is not the team they were four years ago though they are obviously still a great team. They probably have an equal chance to Belgium, who are possibly the most talented team but are perennial underachievers. France is in a similar boat, loads of talents but lacking big game winners in their team. My money's on Argentina and Leo Messi to finally break through, but Brazil and Spain have to be co-favorites based on everything we know at this point. And you can bookmark this post O pari 3 Likes |

Icon4s: Oga icons, i think you should die this Goalkeeper issue Because no matter how you look at it, with all the exploits of ike shorumu we still lost the match... We didn't even qualify from the group Last last with Uzoho in post, we won't qualify from the group and heaven won't fall... All we can do now is to support those picked. As a matter of fact, Uzoho performed very well in the last two friendlies. He is not a basket, he is better than Akpeyi and going forward we will have a long-term dependable keeper in our hands I daresay that you put this present Uzoho in this video and he wouldn't have conceded more than two goals. Give this matter a rest and i promise you that Uzoho will shine in Russia.... But if we lose out at any stage, it won't be due to uzoho's error - trust me on that 3 Likes |

Pinnick is a fulltime mugu, OK. First of all, how many of their players would be flying in from overseas? And even if ALL their players would be flying in from overseas, what about the officials, supporters club, and other contingents that would come with them .... would they all be flying in from abroad as well?? Remember, it only takes ONE infected individual to infect others! This is how these people put our country at risk. I bet you that some people would be making money from this game, that's why they'd insist that it goes ahead. O pari Joebie: |

OMANBALA1:you're funny...sometimes it will be good you think broad... everyone don't go in same direction...I have an ibo friend whose surname is George and that's her father's name she bear... according to her she has no ibo name as first/surname.... how about Nigerians from States like bayelsa who bears all English names... I have also seen a white man who named his son...Bode. according to him he named him after his Doctor.... so learn to always see things in different ways.... it may be that's the dude father's name and the fact that the german/Nigerian bear all English name does not make him less nigerian..... the sun can be viewed from different spot.... not everyone cares about names being tribal/English.... 1 Like |

Did Diego Forlan play in 2014? I don't think so but I stand corrected, if I am wrong. As regards to why England didn't make it out of the group stages, it's because they underachieved as always. And in addition, they had an ageing team at that World Cup. And by the way, if Uruguay were that good, why did Colombia trashed them 2-0 in the round of 16? There's NO doubt in my mind that Nigeria, even with Keshi as the coach, would've beaten Colombia if they were our opponents. O pari Martz101: |

Icon4s: @first bolded... Aiyenugba would have? . Thanks goodness we saw a good case of "would have" actually become "did happen" in the person of lesser evil and best option, Rufai play out in 98 and we got busted. Lol... Football cannot be run on assumptions most times. @second and last bolded.... Berra Chief... Just what I was waiting for.

This father and son drama sef. Abeg, mek una hapu okwu. Me too, I have my concerns regarding our goalkeeping dept and was hoping for a last minute invite for either Austin Ejide or Dele Aiyenugba but that ain't gonna happen, so we should let it go. One thing I like about Uzoho despite all his short comings is his leadership skills. Unlike the clowns like Akpeyi and Ezenwa, I like the way Uzoho controls his backline. He reminds me of our high school goalkeeper, we called him Baby Mo Nso. Omg, this dude is a very quiet guy but he becomes a totally different person once he gets into the pitch. He would push you to play beyond your capabilities because you'd be scared to let him down by letting somebody score. As a matter of fact, even after I became the team captain, I still deferred to him ... I used to tell him that he's the captain on the "back end". I saw some of those qualities in Uzoho, so we might be just fine. He definitely lacks the experience to play at this level but he can make that up by composure and "fakery" O pari TheSuperNerd: |

Icon79: Sorry to badge in on your discussion... You are defending the indefensible..... To be the best, you have to beat the best... If as you say that England are always rigged into an easy group in the world cup then I will say explicitly that THEY ARE THRASH!! How can you be rigged into easy groups for donkey years yet you can't win or even qualify from your group Perennial underachievers |

realpoacher: Like people have continued to harp on about Echiejile, Like people have continued to harp on about Iheanacho, like people have continued to harp on about Onazi and so on. Put a rookie as our CF I don't mind. But putting a rookie as our goalkeeper, I am not comfortable with. The Goalkeeping position is the most important single position in the entire team. So I need to be concerned bro. But if you don't have issues with that and do not feel like discussing it, no problem. |

Of course, they are trash. That's not even an argument. I have never rated England, even during the time of Leo Ferdinand, John Terry, David Beckham etc. Most of their star players are overrated. Having said that, getting an easy group can only help qualify for the round of 16 and nothing more. And if my memory serves me right, the only time England had failed to qualify for the round of 16 was in 2014, so it has been working. O pari realpoacher: |
