Game Night. 5/10
Genre: Comedy

Ishilove, no offence, is this the same GAME NIGHT movie you claimed made you laugh out hard or is there another one, Cause I really found most of jokes & acts in the movie kinda dry. I basically saw the movie cause of how hilarious Jason Batsman's movies used to be, but this one really disappointed me. Try seeing HORRIBLE BOSSES 1& 2, its also a Jason Batsman's movie, then you'll know why I refer to game night as dry comedy.

Weird, because Game Night is HILARIOUS. This is hands-down one of the best comedy movies I've seen in ages. The combination of action and laughs was perfection. Rachel McAdams (Annie) stole the show. I've never really loved/hated her before, but damn did she kill it in this. I'm definitely a new fan. Oh, and Sharon Horgan (Sarah) and Billy Magnussen (Ryan) were incredible and definitely honorable mention to Jesse Plemons (Gary), who was creepy and weird and adorable. But man... Jason Bateman needs to stop playing "young guys," he's like 50, and he looks it. He's known the other couple who have been dating since grade school for close to a decade? They're 29 and 34... so he was 40 hanging out with a 19 and 24 year old? C'mon now...

It has tons of funny moments. Some humor are subtle, whilst some are obvious:
- Selfie with fake Denzel Washington. The huge nose when she zoomed it was a comedy gold.
- "Man, glasses be acting weird today."
- Trying to crack a riddle that literally has no answer.
- "Babe, you're so smart and unfaithful!"
- Ryan having a legit Havard alumni ID card. Pretty hilarious when you realized Ryan is the dumbest guy in the movie.
- Ryan only having 18 dollars on him on a "Game night."
- etc

Bottom line, it's well written and tightly paced story, perfectly cast characters that each have a time to shine, impressive action scenes, some really creative cinematography, and most importantly... it was just fucking hilarious. I mean, it's not going to win any important awards or anything like that, but it's a solid entertainment. I hope the whole crew comes back for the sequel.

Ready Player One. 8/10
Genre: SciFi

Wow!! Is just the exact word for this movie. Movies like this makes me wish such gaming concept used in the movie were applicable in the real world.
Now, let's not go overboard just yet. It's a unique concept and all, but it's NOT exactly original. 8 years ago, Tron: Legacy addressed a remarkably similar concept and with superior graphics at that. That said, it's a worthy fake. 7/10 is a more befitting rating.

mekaprime:

Ghost Machine. 7/10
Genre : SciFi

This movie is almost exactly like the Ready player one movie, the only difference being the little bit of horror( not that Scarry) injected into this one. Although, the virtual reality, graphics & gaming concept used in this one is kinda very real.
Haven't seen it. Penning it in on my bucket list.

mekaprime:

Sabotage. 7.8/10
Genre: Action
A Arnold Schwarzenegger & Jammie Fox classic action movie. Really enjoyed this one and am recommending it to action fan boys here.
What?? Sabotage isn't a classic. It's a 2014 attempt by old has-been Schwarzenegger to resurrect a dead movie career. Alas, the magic is gone. These old bones aren't rising again.

mekaprime:

Big Game 6.8/10
Genre: Action

If you love Samuel L. Jackson's movies, then this one is certainly for you no doubts.
I love Samuel. L. Jackson movies. Definitely putting this at the top of my bucket list. Hope it's not one of your exaggerations.

mekaprime:

12 Monkeys. 4/10
Genre: SciFi

Am a huge fan of SciFi movies based on time travel, but this one was kinda off point for me. The story was shabby & the settings is kinda horrible.
This is the 2nd time I'm seeing someone judge a film because of it's settings, instead of the much more important plotlines. Anyhoo, It's a mindf**k, thus it isn't supposed to make an absolute sense at first watch. Watch it again, and this time, try and see past the "horrible settings."

I haven't seen it, how would you rate it?

As a mindf**k movie goes, it's pretty much up there. It's an 8/10.

Funny enough, I stand with Mekaprime and agree Game Night was not as comical as you made it seem from your appraisal. Apart from one or two scenes, I didn't laugh hard that's why I rated it 6 or 6.5 (can't remember the exact one) without giving any review of it because it's just there for me. On the other hand, Horrible Bosses 1&2 by Jason Bateman especially part 2, was so hilarious that I still laugh hard anytime just thinking of the film. I guess it all boils down to our personal choices because Ready One Player I rated so highly, someone up there said it's a crappy movie. grin
Personal choice it is then. I've watched Horrible Bosses 2 and it's not all that.

Rotten Tomatoes is not "perfect" dude. They have rated a lot movies low that ended up being big in the cinemas, so do not see them as "God" of movies.

RT are not the gold standard for movie reviews. They're more on point on tv shows, but their movie ratings are questionable at times. Trust Metacritic and Fandango on movies, and trust RT on TV shows.

Forget what I said earlier. Don't trust any of them, they're paid professional critics just earning a living. Don't let their collective hive mind skew your judgement. Make a decision completely independent of their half-baked influence. Tastes should be subjective rather than objective.

I agree on that but I saw ready player one enjoyed it but the movie was too long and later became boring though the CGIs were great but Spielberg did well but the characters did not help they were to rigid with there acting and made the movie boring

What is so special about "Den of Thieves"? Is it the show of weaponry or what? Could it be the stale plot of having the overall benefactor to be the unsuspecting least member of the gang? Or the shabby detour before the main heist? Abegiiii, Logan lucky is even more entertaining than this Akamu.

They tried a lil bit with Butler and Fifty though...

This one is a mindf**ker for real. Wtf did I just watch? So many questions I'll probably get no satisfactory answers to.

- I don't know if the ending signified the beginning, or the beginning signified the ending.
- I haven't a clue if Anthony and Adam were two different people - you could make a case about them being the same person, and you wouldn't be far off the mark at all.
- What's with all the spiders?
- Were everything that transpired between Adam, Anthony, Mary and Helen even real, or just an imagination?
- Am I the crazy one, or are we (I and everyone involved in the movie) all batsh*t together?

Man... this one is a geniune head scratcher. What a ride!

I watched the movie, because, Gerald Butler. As an action movie goes, it doesn't disappoint. The shootouts were realistic in their simplicity.

It's true the plot would have used a little bit of work, but again, it might have pegged it back some. In my experience, the best action thrillers usually throw the plot out of the window. Why is this necessary? It's basic. You can't eat your cake and have it. It's rare to see a situation whereby a movie with a plot of Se7en is clammed in with a movie with the action sequence of Crank. Both are polar opposites of each other, and as such would try to steal the thunder of the other, thereby complicating the heck out of what would have been a simple straight forward action thriller with a little bit of a plot twist.

So it's always better to avoid this scenerio by keeping the plot as weak as possible to let the theme shine through, and Den of Thieves did that to perfection. Don't try to overthink it, just watch it for the mindless adrenaline rush it's supposed to be.

Part 2 is already in the works, and is to be shot in Europe.

A bimbo offing 3 sadist, after a rape and a murder attempt, right? My only gripe with the movie is that it's way too short. They rushed through her revenge encounters, and just when it's just kicking into 2nd gear... c'est fini, it's over.
