Woah, so sad we are different cities. I download Linux OS for fun. If i lived in Warri you will have nothing less than 10 ISOs to choose from grin grin grin grin

Anyways hope you find someone who can give you a good ISO.

Still no official link on their website. Waiting eagerly to click the download button cool

I will upgrade my 16.04 once a .1 release (ie 18.04.1) comes around.

Has anyone tried Manjaro Linux before? It seems to be the new popular linux distro on distrowatch. I'm thinking of checking it out to see if it's worth all the hype

Data usage is based on what you do online and Ubuntu is an OS and will not do anything about how you surf except you install any special app or browser to help manage that.I started using Brave browser recently and I just know it saves me from excess ad data you see on most pages. It also blocks site tracking and cookies.

This might not be much but it all contributes to consumed online data usage. If you are really strict about reducing your browing data then you can browse from a CLI interface especially if your browsing is text-focused and you dont want your browser to download associated pics and videos from visited sites. Basicaly its all about your preference.

Hope this helps.

Currently running Manjaro Deepin on Virtualbox. I will move to the KDE version some day as my daily driver.
Give it a shot,I am sure you will like it. It takes away all the hassle of installing base Arch and configuring it to your taste.

I was thinking they'll have that windows 10 feature, that allows you to set a connection as metered connection in order to reduce background data usage.

Not to discourage there might be a tool for that in Ubuntu which I dont know about yet but in my view the metered connecton only helps you not to download large stuff like updates hoping you will connect to wifi later on for large downloads. So if you dont connect to wifi you will never have an updated system which is not good practice in my view.

But generally the system but doesnt really do much on like say control what Google Chrome or Firefox is caching/downloading at the background whenever it is open. Besides that data is small compared to what you are actualling doing except in cases of Window updates. If you start a 4GB download on that metered connection I dont think Windows will stop you so in summary data usage still boils down to the user. The unwanted things you dont really want to download when you visit sites can be blocked by Brave browser or plugins on Firefox. Depends on how you think of data though.

Background data is generally minimal in linux unless you started a data consuming background process. While the a lot of distros check for available updates, most distros won't install without your authorisation.
