I believe he regretted what his discoveries came to be used for, and not the scientific discoveries themselves.

Science is neither 'good' nor 'bad'. Science is not morality.

It's like facts. A banana is a fruit. That statement is neither good nor bad, neither positive nor negative.

Special relativity was a modern breakthrough which came to have far reaching applications such as in nuclear fission, in nuclear reactors in power plants.

While it is accurate that special relativity created a relatively new breed of powerful weapons, it also fostered insight into fusion and illumination of the Geophysical characteristics of the earth.

You may have read or heard about vital anti cancer drugs like cyclophosphamide used in Breast Cancer or Multiple Myeloma. That would be considered a 'good' development, I'd bet.

However you may not know that during World War II, Nitrogen Mustard gas was discovered and developed subsequently into blistering chemical agents used till this day with devastating effect in chemical warfare.

Cyclophosphamide is a Nitrogen Mustard.

Would you then consider it 'good' or 'bad?

Pepper spray is a powerful personal protection tool.

But did you know that the primary inventor has severally mentioned his regret that it is often used by draconian regimes to curb public protests?

Does that then make Pepper Spray good or bad?

Science is an Objective process. The applications of that scientific process is where morality lies therein.

Ignorance!, E=mc2 is theory of your existence on earth, Einstein and Elsa were the first people to wrap their head around it and made the world know how the universe likely came in to being and how it works.

Modelling it for weaponry purpose wasn't Einstein idea and was strongly against it hence the reason for his eternal respect.

I don't remember his name but a scientists discovered it first but it's form was so complicated it could not be applied. That goes without saying; what Eintstein accomplished wasn't a small feat.

I will give it to Pythagoras, Einstein build on his foundation and know fully well that the alphabet has been previously used. He should have respected precedence and use something else.

More so, Einstein must have checked out on intelligence, when he was thinking of the letters to use to represent his findings, otherwise why after using ‘E’ for energy and ‘m’ for mass will he settled and use ‘c’ for speed of light? It does not follow logic or common sense....

C2 is not same in both mathematical expressions. For pythagoras it's a proof of expression of shapes while for Einstein's equation C stands for speed or celeritas in Latin.

That's how people fail exam and they will say their lecturers hate them or their village people are after him

A simple question and you are explaining as though the OP doesn't know that the two equations have C^2

C is for speed of light for those shouting speed

In the equation, the increased relativistic mass (m) of a body times the speed of light squared (c2) is equal to the kinetic energy (E) of that body. E = mc2Proof of Albert Einstein's special-relativity equation E = mc2

Color me cynical, but I think einstein was overhyped..Pythagoras was a greater mathematical genius and as far as geniuses go, Einstein pales in comparison to people like Thomas Edison and Leonardo Da Vinci to mention a few.

They are completely different c's.

They could have used any alphabet or Greek symbol..

While C is just to represent the side of the triangle in the pythagoras equation.

C in Einsteins energy equation was derived from a complex mathematical equation (maxwell) that involves playing around with calculus.

I give it to Pythagoras... he was the first to use C... Einstein should have used another letter.... Moreover Pythagoras laid a foundation to many analytical problems with his theorem.....
I am a physics major and I give it to Einstein. Bias? Not even close. His theory of relativity solved a lot of scientific projections we don't think about. Even though not related to the C argument, he is a chairman. The reason we have satellites in spacing is based on relativity. Infact, typing this would not have happened.

For pythagoras, the C can be replaced with any letter without affecting its definition whereas, Einstein's C is gotten from the Latin word for speed. I think Einstein holds more water

Both deserve it. It depends on how u look at it. From the Pythagora's point of view, the "c square " denote the square of the hypothenus of a right angles triangle, the " b square + a square " represent the sum of the square of the "adjacent " and "opposite " sides of a right angles triangle. Albert Einstein need the " c square " to tell the world that Matter can be converted to Energy I.e Uranium 235 can decay to release energy.

I am a die hard fan of atomic energy, therefore I give it to Albert Einstein. Case closed!

100% Pythagoras. There is simply no basis for comparison. When Pythagoras was postulating the theorem for the Area of a right angle triangle (A^2+B^2 = C^2) Einstein was still in the bowel of his ancestors.
It was the finished works of Pythagoras and the other early days mathematicians/philosophers that Einstein and his mate relied on to make their famous discoveries.

In conclusion Pythagoras brought something out of nothing while Einstein stood on the shoulders of the elders (Pythagoras and co) to make exploit

Pythagoras cos he laid the bedrock of Mathematics,Engineering and applied sciences.

Clearly Pythagoras.

First Pythagoras did his work about 2,500 years before Einstein. A time when only very few people could read. No real universities or professors to learn from.

Pythagoras did massive work in planetary science (stars, Venus), proportions, music tuning, solids and the fact that the earth is a sphere, a fact that took another over 2, 000 years later for others to realise/accept. He had massive influence on Gauss, Newton, Kepler, Copernicus and others that later went on to inspire Einstein.

He was also one of the best philosophers ever.
