NMA is not a registered union they are profession body like ICAN or ANAN while JOHESU is a registered trade union under Nigerian law. It is because Nigeria law is not effective that is why an illegal NMA will be dictating to FG because they produce the minister of state for health, minister of health, minister of labour and the HODs in the ministry of health.
The JOHESU went to court on the same issue and they won but they refuse to implement the judgment because the doctors are the one there
.

Thank you my brother, each time NMA strikes or ask for one thing or the other does anybody hear/sees JOHESU or any other unions block them or hinder them? NO, so why now? The reason is not far fetched, NMA does not want other professions in the health sector to grow and that is the reason for the rot we have today in our hospitals. Come to think of it the WHO which is the world health governing body is not headed by a Medical Doctor. So why is the health system in NIGERIA different?

Anyone that say that doctors are not well treated in Nigeria is totally in dark. There are doctors that are collecting 1m in our hospitals yet they have their own private hospitals.
If JOHESU of NMA is on strike is to their advantage because they will be exploiting poor masses.
A simple operation in Government hospitals amounted 50,000 naira will be over 200,000 naira in private hospitals, now if the federal hospital is been privatised the the masses will suffer for it.

Ministers of health should be Public health experts only and not just medical doctors.
Hospitals should be ran by seasoned administrators and management experts while the Chief operating officer or CMD should then be a medical doctor.
There should be a national hospital management board who will supervise hospital administration

Doctors should not be the only ones heading the Units. Why will the doctors be the heads of all Federal Medical centres? You will see a small boy Doctor who left school barely 5 years ago will be controlling a senior matron Nurse who has been working for 30 year with Masters Degree in Nursing. Johesu is right on that! Being a doctor is by choice, many people did not want to be doctors from the outset of their lives, they wants to Medical scientist, pharmacist, Nurse, Radiologist, etc. Must everybody be doctor to head a unit?

Why are we acting like Doctors are super human? they simply chose to be! Others who chose other career have right to rule.
what about the fresh nurse that will be controlling a cleaner that has been working for over 20 years

PRIVATISATION. Let everybody earns based on the services rendered period. Imagine a house officer on call on say a Monday, that means he will work with the nurses on morning shift, afternoon shift, night shift, then on Tuesday he will work with the nurses on morning shift and afternoon before closing only to return on Wednesday morning to continue working. God help him he is not having another call that week. Don't forget the duration of study in university 6+X years + 1 year of housemanship + 1 year NYSC.

Where's the proof to back up your claims

Y'all want call allowances, y'all want to be treated like doctors. . . It can't happen.
You have every right to demand for an increment in salary but don't drag a doctor's pay into it. . . Don't try to downgrade someone else to upgrade yourself. It's jealousy.

So why aren't the Doctors doing that now. Go to most hospitals now and you'll see them either sitting or gisting, some will even tell you the hospital staffs are on strike. That you even feel the role of Nurses is just to check vital signs speaks volume of why we are in this present situation, because I feel you were taught some nursing processes in your Med school.
The Johesu members that were involved in an accident over d weekend in Edo state, what happened?
Were they not treated and stabilised without help from anybody, some discharged sef?

But why is JOHESU afraid of privatization?

We all know how privatization works in Nigeria let's not deceive ourselves it will not pay both parties, let's start from HO's, now that the system is not even privatized there are lots of them still wandering about the streets and you'll quite agree that in Nigeria private establishments only care about profit maximization. A lot of your MOs, SMOs and Consultants would not get job because the order of the day would be less staff, more productivity and profit and the masses would pay more and get less. I just laugh whenever I hear see the assertion you made up there. Both parties would suffer, there won't be anything like NMA strike or JOHESU strike, you won't even dare it. because of you do, and you are sacked, there will be thousands hand out there to take your job from you. Take the OLD NEPA for example, before it was privatized, there use to be NEPA strike, but since it has been privatized do you hear if such anymore? Or probably you think if the system is privatized, Doctors will take over the duties of all other health professionals who have there professional bodies affiliated worldwide? Laughs...

30years of nursing does not qualify you a Doctor.

The JOHESU members on CONHESS 12 who spent more than twenty years before getting there and a fresh graduate who is a doctor will be employed and placed on that same level and not only that doctor salary will be paid higher, this is a great injustice.
*The minister of Health should be removed
*The Administrators or technocrats should be
appointed as the head of our hospitals and let
every profession face their work
* Look out for what is practiced in other parts of the world and do the same here.

So you're saying a starting doctor should earn the same thing as a starting nurse/pharmacist/lab technician?

And a consultant surgeon should also earn the same thing as a CNO?

You can't compare the figures of those that had an accident to the populace. If the doctors are capable then why are there no patients in the wards any longer?

Accept the hierarchy within the medical establishment.

The doctor is supremo and must be at the top of the pyramid.

The doctor would always earn more and rightly so.

Other members of the enterprise must be adequately remunerated.

Everyone must come to terms with his/her role, importance and collaborative necessity.

Is JOHESU clamouring for parity with NMA?

Let the medical personnel on the same level earn same basic salary, allowances may differ though.let the various medical sub units be headed by specialist in those fields e. g lab scientists to head the lab, pharmacists to head pharmacy etc while the doctors head their own units but the doctors or surgeons should be the overall head of the team. The Bsc in general nursing should be scrapped n replaced with Bsc surgical nurse, Bsc dental nurse, Bsc orthopedic nurse etc where the Bsc should only be acquired after qualifying as a RN and practising for a minimum period of three years, the Bsc course should be of at least two years duration. The idea that only a medical doctor will be appointed as health mimister should be stopped or we should also agree that only those who study political science or public administration should contest for public executive positions.

So you want to earn same amount with doctors? Do you think it is fair for you a lab technician that spent 3 years in school and a doctor that spent 6 to earn the same?
When it comes to administration of hospitals, yes doctors should not be head of hospitals. Doctors don't have any advantage over other professionals when it comes to managing hospitals. [/quote
]Nobody is asking for that, a lab technician's entry point in service is conhess 6/grade level 7.it will take him about 9yrs in service to get to the level 9, which is the entry point of a house officer and even then they wouldn't earn the same bcoz the doctors call duty allowance is more than twice what the technician earns as shift allowance.

Just read your comment again, does it sound right?

Is Radiology a specialty in medicine like Opthalmology, O&G, paediatrics and so on?
If so, pharmacy should then be a specialty in medicine.

Back to your comment, if Radiologist and Radiographers are of different Unions, then something is wrong.

Supposed workers if same profession in different union.

You know the truth within yourself so there's no point proving anything. we're all humans with conscience but I'm shocked that no member of the NMA dear speak the sacred truth to the body. Was that part of human taken away from you guys in medical school?
Talking about call allowance, why shouldn't other professionals be paid call allowances or is it not work they're doing? Call allowances can be likened to earned allowances in the university...do you know of anyone within the academic circle who is not paid the money?

To put the record straight, the bone of contention in our health system isn't just about remuneration...it's a little part of it.
What health workers are fighting against is injustice and dominance of a set of people who think they own the hospital and our health system. Over the past 3 decades these men have been at leadership position in our health system and the result is what we have today; ranking very low on the global scene in everything concerning health care. This goes further to show that they are not good health managers and should not be allowed to continue if we must get it right. No body should reinforce failure as OBJ will say.
Also, the NMA over the years has turned itself into the regulatory body of other health professionals. A situation where the NMA try to detect to the pharmacist council on how pharmacist should be trained cannot be allowed to stand. Telling the NUC not to approve the D. Pharm degree and qualifications gotten from the West Africa postgraduate school of pharmacist is nothing but sheer stupidity.
Medling in the career progression of other professionals by the NMA is also fraudulent and demonic. Health care is evolving and changing every day and we have no option but to evolve with it. Only a fool get stagnated forever and the NMA shouldn't be one.

Guy, abeg don't waste words on these poorly bred individuals. They should continue bequeathing godhood upon themselves, and dragging the national healthcare system backwards. This mindset started while in school where they see themselves as superior to every other student on campus...
