He is in camp already, maybe when he ends up in Russia, then and then will some of us understand why the coach keeps calling him. the coaching crew are the closest to these players, they know what they want and will decide. I only assumed just as some of us have done here so what i say or what some of us say here remains our opinions.

He can play in a 3 man defense is an assumption from me and an opinion.

Except you're saying the coaching crew are all fools for always inviting Echiejile and even used him all through the qualifiers except the last match, they must be seeing what they want in him.

safarigirl:
how can you claim that someone who has never played in a 3-5-2 can function in it? Echiejile can barely function as part of a back four, how will he function as part of a back 3?

You don't get to make untested claims. If you are talking, it should be based on facts. Your statement has no fact. Football is not by "because Leon can do it, Echiejile should be able to do it". Football is not all about pace, it is also about technique.

So, if we are to use 3-5-2 in our first game against Croatia, you would start Echiejile?

When did Rohr settle on the 3-5-2 tactics? Seems that consensus on the thread is that that is the system we would use. Do you guys have a link to the coach 's backroom?

What is "multiple" in English since you love argument?

If they weren't in his plan, why were they invited? you surely don't understand coaching and management. He needed varieties so he invited as many as possible to fight for a place in the squad or are you saying he invited those ones to come play ludo?
They were in his plans and obviously didn't fit into what he needed after the invitation. plain and simple.

Audible to the deaf and Visible to the blind.

Echiejile has played as LB and LM before, so he's not a one position player. check his bio for evidence. I also believe he can play LCD, might be wrong but it's possible until proven otherwise.
Martz101:

bro if Echiejile will make the team then is because of his competence in his position first and not ability to play other position

Yes he was already doing well and gave no reason to be dropped for Kayode.

In the first 5 matches both played after joining, Stuani played 90, 81, 90, 67 and 90 mins while Kayode played 6, 9, 25, 11, 83 mins respectively.

When he played 6, 9, 25 and 11 minutes, he was used to replace Stuani, and he played 83 mins, he played as an SS with Stuani.

Prove me wrong.

Martz101:

i said they were sign about same time, i said you lied because you claimed stuani was already doing well before kayode came in.

Brother man, lets join hands together and support this guys and drop sentiment.

i want and pray kayode do well in ukraine and be a better player for Nigeria in future.

I rate a player from the consistency of his club football first, all things being equal.

Kelechi Nwakali a forward player has played near 40 games in the Eredivisie the easiest league to score goals in the top 20 leagues of Europe and scored 3 goals. No sentiment attached he simply not good enough for the SE.

In addition there are far too many better players ahead of him.

At bolded,... Lie from the pit of hell. Kelechi is not a forward, he is a 10, a midfielder angry

It shows you don't really know much about the player you seek to criticize.

Or is this a lame attempt to defend kayode, a top 9 who couldn't score a goal for Girona in 12 matches undecided

Rohr stated that you have to go into a competition like the WC with at least 3 formations depending on the game. 3-5-2 is certainly one of the systems available to him. He has also tried it out.

You have to pick the players that fit into your systems. No one is saying that he starts each game with the 3-5-2 system.

Two-Goal Heroes Omeruo & Stephen Eze Outshine Iwobi, Iheanacho In Training Game

Team A wore orange bibs on top of the green sleeveless tops and had Oghenekaro Etebo, Junior Lokosa, Tyronne Ebuehi, Ola Aina, Kenneth Omeruo and William Troost-Ekong.
Team B with just the green sleeveless tops contained : Alex Iwobi, Stephen Eze, Eddy Onazi, Elderson Echiejile, Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidozie Awaziem.
At 1118 hours, both teams went against each other in a six-a-side game using 'monkey posts', as they are known in these parts.
Twenty two minutes later, both teams went into a match of seven-a-side with the goalkeepers joining in the session and goalposts being used this time, about one quarter of the training pitch was used for the game.
Deportivo de La Coruña youngster Francis Uzoho joined the Team A as the keeper while Enyimba's Ikechukwu Ezenwa was selected for the Team B.
After ten minutes, Ajiboye replaced Uzoho and Ezenwa subbed out for Daniel Akpeyi.
The match ended 3-2 in favour of Team A, with Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo scoring a brace and Etebo with the other goal for the side.
Lokomotiv Plovdiv defender Stephen Eze outshone his teammates Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho after scoring two goals for the Team B.
Alex Iwobi's dad, Chuka Iwobi, attended the training session which ended at 1210 hours.

Nigeria has a team for 2022 and 2026 World Cup - Pinnick By Augustine Akhilomen

Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick says the Super Eagles have the players to do Nigeria proud at the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Pinnick made these comments after the Super Eagles narrowly lost 3-2 to Atletico Madrid in Tuesday's GOTV Max
Cup at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

“We are confident that from the preparatory plan that we have put together for the Super Eagles leading to the finals in Russia, and having taken care of off-field matters that may cause distraction, the team will do Nigeria proud in Russia.

“Looking at the team that just played Atletico Madrid, it gladdens my heart to see that after Russia, we certainly have the players that will also do us proud in 2022 and even 2026.”

Nigeria B 2-3 Atletico Madrid: What did we learn?
By Dami Ugbane, KweséESPN

A Nigeria B selection fell to a 3-2 defeat by Atletico Madrid in an exhibition match at the Godswill Akpabio international Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday, although the scoreline doesn't tell the full story of a fascinating fixture.

The team's impressive performance has largely overshadowed the loss, as the Eagles largely held their own against a team who were crowned Europa League champions earlier this month.

In this feature, KweséESPN run through the key talking points to emerge from Nigeria's memorable showing.

Nwakali brothers ran the show: Not since the pair of Kalu Uche and Ikechukwu Uche played and scored the goals which won Nigeria an international friendly against Zambia in November, 2011, have brothers lined-up together for the Super Eagles.
The seven-year wait was ended when the immensely talented duo of Chidiebere and Kelechi Nwakali started in midfield against Atletico. The pair certainly caught the eye with a superlative all-round performance.
Chidiebere, a renowned defensive all-rounder, began the game as the midfield anchor man, but displayed his versatility by ending up on the left side of attack. In a more advanced role, he troubled the opposition full-back with his impressive footwork, to the delight of supporters.

However, the younger Nwakali was perhaps Nigeria's standout player, displaying maturity beyond his years as he dictated the flow of the game and capped a brilliant performance with a breath-taking goal to beat the highly rated Jan Oblak.

The 19-year-old has clearly sent a bold message to the global audience, and having already discussed his desire to make an impact at Arsenal, it will be interesting to see if Unai Emery keeps him around next season.

Talent abounds in Nigeria: There was a bit of scepticism within the local media when it was revealed that a selection of home-based professionals, complemented by a handful of fringe overseas-based players, would represent Nigeria against a formidable Atletico Madrid team.

However, the selected players were unusually calm on the day, and appeared fearless in the face of Diego Simeone's side. Certainly, the pick of the NPFL didn't appear overawed by the challenge that awaited them.
The coaching crew must be commended for the cohesion displayed, and even though the team barely had enough time to train together, they did enough to remind the watching world of the talent that exists in the domestic top flight.

Concentration cost the team: A major downside to the commendable Super Eagles performance was an inability to effectively shut the door at the back.
Twice after taking the lead and rallying back, the hosts failed to sustain the momentum beyond six minutes, evidently losing concentration on at least two occasions.

The entire stadium had barely recovered from Nwakali's stunning opener, when Angel Correa capitalised on a virtually non-existent defence line to pull Atletico Madrid level two minutes later.
The same scenario repeated itself after Usman Mohammed's jaw-dropping equaliser.
The players appeared eager to push too high up the pitch to get the winner, and forgot to protect the goalkeeper, thereby presenting young forward Borja Garces with the chance to win the game for his side.

Mohammed turns overnight superstar: Nigeria has produced some wonderfully gifted players over the years, and Dream Team VI star Mohammed announced himself - perhaps - as the next in line following an outstanding display.
He relished the occasion, netted a fine goal, and demonstrated the kind of technical skill that reminded observers of Jay-Jay Okocha in his pomp.

His fine individual strike could be a springboard to greater things.

Rohr: Ndidi Won’t Have Injury Worries At World Cup
By David Meshioye

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is confident Wilfred Ndidi will not suffer any setbacks at the World Cup after the Leicester City midfielder recovered in time to rejoin the national team on Monday, Completsportnigeria.com reports.

Ndidi stepped up his rehabilitation programme to return to shape for Nigeria’s World Cup campaign after copping a hamstring injury while in action for Leicester.

The former Genk midfielder is in the Super Eagles provisional squad for the Russia 2018 World Cup.

“Coach Rohr said he is not losing any sleep over Ndidi’s form for the World Cup,” Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye told CSN.

“You know Ndidi pulled a hamstring and the general fear was that he may not be fit during the tournament, but Rohr is confident the midfielder won’t suffer a blip in form in Russia.”

Ndidi missed the end of Leicester’s campaign with the injury but is expected to be included in the final Nigeria squad to Russia.
The Super Eagles will face Congo DR, England and Czech Republic in warm-up matches before playing Iceland, Croatia and Argentina in Russia.

Imagine my surprise when naysayers on this thread were questioning Kelechi Nwakali's inclusion, good he had a memorable game.

PS: The way Chidiebere jumped on his bro when he scored was adorable

somehow:
Yes he was already doing well and gave no reason to be dropped for Kayode.

In the first 5 matches both played after joining, Stuani played 90, 81, 90, 67 and 90 mins while Kayode played 6, 9, 25, 11, 83 mins respectively.

When he played 6, 9, 25 and 11 minutes, he was used to replace Stuani, and he played 83 mins, he played as an SS with Stuani.

Prove me wrong.

nothing is different now, his first goal for shakter was in 92min after coming in for there main striker, if he actually find the net in those few chances then the coach could have taken him more serious

Better playing pitches in our domestic league will help us see more clearly.
We need a standing home based eagles.

Joebie:
Ok let’s focus on ur Team Natural claim. What’s the proportion of girls going natural to those still buying hairs of other races? how about the proportion as regards those wearing Afrowigs to other-races looking wigs? No be the same Abuja I dey? Abi do I have to come to ur school first to know?

Jokes are jokes. But what makes a joke funny or not depends on the mentality of the people. Which is why something that is funny to us may not be funny to people of another country. However this one you made is peculiar to Nigerians. I’m questioning why. If you think deeper you will know. No be over-analyzing o. Let’s be true to ourselves

those buying hairs are doing so because going natural is cheap.

For instance, a small amount of castor oil which is part of the necessary ingredients to keep natural hair healthy, sells for 3,500, I mean a tiny bottle. Hair of other races costs as cheap as 1k/pack. If you buy 2 packs and go to the saloon to fix it, you will spend 3k tops.

You still consider that everyone doesn't have the same hair texture. And wearing of wigs and weave-ons is part of the maintenance of natural hair, if you leave it undone for a long period as you are suggesting, you will not have hair on your head in a space of months

I cannot give you a percentage, because that will require a survey, but I have met girls who have either gone natural, or would like to, but can't, because their hair texture is complicated.

Afrowigs and other races wigs are not even reigning in my school, it is braided wig that the whole world is wearing.

Nigeria vs Atletico Madrid : Diego Simeone lauds Nigeria team B

Diego Simeone, the Atletico Madrid of Spain Coach, has described the international friendly between his team and Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Uyo as a tough tie.

Eagles team B lost 2-3 to the 2018 Europa League Cup winners on Tuesday.

Simeone also told a post-match briefing at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium that the Super Eagles gave a good account of themselves.

“We are happy to be here today. It was a difficult match though we won. The Super Eagles played very well, they tried,” Simeone said.
The coach said that his team came with the mind to play and win even though it was a friendly match.

The Super Eagles Coach, Salisu Yusuf, commended his boys for their superlative performance in spite of the loss.
Yusuf said that although his team played very well Atletico Madrid showed maturity and experience, adding that the two goals conceded by his team were cheap.

”We played compact football, they have maturity and were more experienced than us.
““We are going to develop the team to the next level. They played against the best,” he said.

He said with such performance the Eagles team B could metamorphose into dependable team for the future.

The Super Eagles Captain, Musa Mohammed, said they were happy to trade tackles with the Spanish premier league giants.
Mohammed also told NAN that they played according to instructions.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that goals from Angel Correa, Fernando Torres and Borja Garces denied the Super Eagles B side a victory in the entertaining match.

The Super Eagles scored two quality goals through Kelechi Nwakali (30th minute) and second half substitute Usman Mohammed.
Observers said Mohammed’s goal brought back memories of Nigerian legend Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha.
