olutop:Your ignorance at work again, Erb's palsy is a nerve injury (overstretching) as a result of birth trauma. Who conducts deliveries in the hospitals? Johesu(Midwives) What's the treatment for Erb's palsy, physical corrections of the abnormal posture of the hand from waiter's tip position to normal position, something an illiterate can do, it's just like removing the thumb from the mouth of a child that sucks, with time the child will stop. So why are you boasting that you treat Erb's palsy as if you perform surgical repair on the injured nerve! To understand the gibberish to just typed well, go and read on what Shoulder Dystocia means and its possible complications then you will understand how ignorant you are 5 Likes 1 Share |

olutop:I will not be the one teaching you basic things that you ought to know if you actually did the basic medical science courses as you claimed. If you want to know how foot drops or other things happen, go and read on them but let me guide you a bit, quacks and people like you who don't know their boundary conduct deliveries at home and in your shops, and most of these delivery end up as obstructed labour in which the head of the baby compresses the sciatic nerve against the bony pelvis and causes foot drop post partum. if you work in the tertiary health centre you will know that such places are referral places that manage complicated cases referred from people who have mismanaged these people. That's probably why you must have been seeing foot drops and Erb's palsy. But your ignorance and laziness won't allow you to ask questions and find out from patients how and where their problems started 3 Likes 1 Share |

sogodihno: Lol calm down and type with reason. Don't be so mad, it's unbecoming Doctors can take postgraduate courses in pharmacology for your information. There's a department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. . . .it's under Internal Medicine in some teaching hospitals now. They train residents and even lecture pharmacology. And yes, they're Medical Doctors with MD attached to their names. I'm sorry if that makes you mad but it's the reality. 3 Likes |

Yonce: so clinical pharmacology is the same as pharmacy? let me enlighten you and save u futher embarrassment of speaking gibberish next time. Pharmacy is made up of five departments 1. Pharmacology 2.Pharmaceutical chemistry 3. Clinical pharmacy and pharmacy administration 4. Pharmaceutics and microbiology 5. Pharmacognosy. u see your pharmacology is just one out of five, the only way to further in pharmacy(not pharmacology) is to go and obtain jamb form and become a pharmacist first. To Nigerian superiors!!!. What Real Doctors think of Nurses !!! From Dr. Tiny Nair, Cardiologist, TVM, India. I had finished my MBBS and was pursuing MD in internal medicine in one of the best govt. colleges in kerala; clearing the tough MD entrance by merit gave an aura and self pride, that comes along with the name tag and the white coat of a fresh graduate. I was posted in a ward at the back of the main building. A middle aged man, admitted with some innocuous illness suddenly collapsed, his breathing was heavy, an obvious sign of cardiac arrest. I quickly started cardias massage with chest compression and basic CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation. Other residents and the duty registrar quickly joined me. Initially we got back pulse, put him on a trolley and rushed him to the cardiac ICU, which was little far away, continuing intermittent chest compression and oxygen. Despite our heroic measures the patient was continuing to be bad and struggling to breathe, with feeble pulse. Every staff in the ICU was running; the senior-most nurse in the ICU (almost on the verge of her retirement) was watching all our efforts. She suddenly stepped in and said, ‘can you just hold on for a moment’? She opened the patients mouth, extended his neck, and in one swift movement introduced a Macgills Forceps (a large holding / catching device) into the patient’s mouth. She pulled out the ‘denture’ that the patient had swallowed; that was the reason for his choking. It was not a cardiac arrest, just that he had chocked on his loose denture. The man became quiet; the heroic doctors silent, and everyone heaved a sigh of relief. After mumbling some kind of apology and ‘thank you sister’ I left ; the weight of my degree suddenly felt like a burden, the white coat too uncomfortable. What they didn’t tell me in medical school was that degree cannot match experience. Today, as a senior consultant, during our ICU rounds, if I feel the patient is fine and can be shifted out, I ask the duty nurse whether it is OK to shift out the patient or not. After all I see the patient for 10 minutes twice a day, while the nurse spends the entire day with the patient. I may know more intricate biochemistry and pathology, but she has better intuitions about the patient. Take her judgement into confidence too; believe me, it is good to believe her. 1 Like |

AlphaT1:most of all u said are true but I don't agree with some of ur assertions. MPH (master in public health) is offered by non MBBS holders in Nigeria. U can check unilorin website.majority of the MPH students are not medical Doctors. Also What some of ur senior colleagues that want to be addressed as a consultant want is jus base on year of service/experience and not necessarily going to your post graduate schools .i stand to be corrected anyway cos I stand for the truth"in senator dino voice On the hospital administrator, I think JOHESU have an eye on it too .that's why JOHESU is asking for deputy CMAC position or so.on this I think d NIgeria constitution gave Doctors this position/advantage.my opinion: d thing should be given to an administrator and other guys can be asked to join the committee as it is done in saner clime. Solution to all ds health sector fracas is to invite all stake holders both medical Doctors and JOHESU guys to the table let all find a lasting solution. But I jus dey laugh guys wn dey have to gang up with cleaners ,gate men , generator guys in this fight.that's telling u how things have degenerated in this our country. |

Anyone here who's against the justified demands of Johesu for equity & not parity with the doctors like the monster Mr Isaac Adewole had made the populace believe should have their brains rechecked. CONMESS has been adjusted thrice from Sept 2016 till date & non has been done for CONHESS simply because the NMA feels a one year difference between the doctors & pharmacy in degree qualification should be proportional to 8 levels difference in their service. This is the height of injustice & it is never done elsewhere in the world except in Nigeria with an accursed warp system. Why would a fresh doctor earn same amount with a nurse or pharmacy on level 12, it is prepostrously absurd. Its even a pity that the issue should warrant a strike in the first place & could be this dragged for weeks now. I hope Johesu wins the battle its their right. 1 Like |

frankpro27: See another disgruntled element talking, so you mean you clerk a patient, conduct a clinical examination, request for an appropriate clinical investigation(s), make appropriate diagnosis, then make prescriptions? Oh and if your "patient" needs MVA, insicional biopsy, gastric lavage, saphenous cutdown, femoral tap, pericardiocentesis, lumbar puncture, abdominal paracentesis, or a trephine biopsy e.t.c you will, as a "Pharm. D holder", competently carry them out. You are a joke dude. Because you successfully deceive the gullible, uneducated, and unsuspecting Nigerians does not make you a hero. Such a criminal act of yours can only be done in a messed up country like Nigeria, and you are even proud to share it on a social media. In sane climes, you would be in prison now. And I'm sure, your so called "patients" that you make "nothing less than a million every month" from, thought you are a DOCTOR, because that's what clowns like you tell them you are! I pray you get more photocopying machines to make more copies of the "blunders" you receive as prescriptions from "doctors", because you will need it! We also have records of your quackery in our patients', who unfortunately fell into your dubious traps, case notes. 1 Like |

olutop:Your own doctor cant be different. There are only a few cases when a doctor will decide what type of delivery a patient will have: In breech presentation, placenta previa, previous CS scars, abnormal lie and presentation, pre eclampia and a few other conditions . Every other patients is to go thru SVD unless complications set in during the course of the labour. As for induction of labor, that one has specific indications too, no doctor will induce or augment a patient in whom everything is going on normally. Your patients always say doctors are the cause of the problem?you should have asked them how. Was it the doctor that made them to have a obstructed labour or was it the doctor that made their baby to have shoulder Dystocia? Sure! we should give ourselves mutual respect, that's the right thing to do. But we should also learn to educate the patients we come in contact with and clear their minds of erroneous beliefs. We are still on this NMA vs JOHESU thing years after! Na wa o! This country is cursed! Let me just leave this here......there should be mutual respect for one another. Anyone should be able to head the hospital with AN ADMINISTRATIVE DEGREE, johesu or nma. Why? Because the hospitals should be run as a business...they should be self funding. Thats what you get in saner climes. Govt should divest itself, play a minimal role in funding but a major role in REGULATION. As regards consultancy position for johesu,i have no issues with it BUT the NMA will not sit and let that happen by rising through the ranks as a civil servant. The murses, pharmacists and lab TECHNOLOGISTS MUST be willing to attain extra post graduate training the way the doctors do in a particular area of their respective fields. Otherwise it will not be fair to a medical consultant to earn the same with a "consultant" radiographer who was promoted to that level because, lets not kid ourselves, thats the aim of JOHESU. Lastly, JOHESU should know that we (doctors)CREATED them and we can EXSANGUINATE them. If this rubbish "superiority" battle continues, all it takes is for the doctors WHO ACTUALLY TREAT the patients to REJECT any test result not ratified by a pathologist with his stamp or a radiology report by a radiologist(NOT RADIOGRAPHER BECAUSE I SEE PEOPLE DONT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE) and see these people respect themeselves and the boundaries. Some states are already adopting that pathologists and radiologists MUST have their stamps to ratify results. This will curb quackery. It means if you bring a test result or radiology report without a doctors stamp(pathologist or radiologist as the case may be), you will be refused treatment until the right thing is done. God bless the nigerian health sector! NB: the radiographer takes or acquires the images of the body....the radiologist is the doctor who looks at those imagesvand diagnoses what is wrong with the patient and refers to another doctor colleague to treat. Please in this patient flow, who should sit, close his mouth and be humble? Nigerians, you be the judge! Im out PHANTOM 2 Likes |

ozo13:Yes I know of Unilorin offering MPH, they started offering to non-medical doctors barely 4 yrs ago. When MPH started in Nigeria, it was exclusively for medics. I lectured for a short time in Unilorin before moving to Unilag and then leaving the classroom. Again sometimes you need to enquire before making assertions, there is West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacist for instance, (not even established by Nigeria) offering fellowship programs and only graduates of this college can be appointed consultant and not yrs of experience as you opined. Nigerian hospitals would be much better if NMA carries everyone along. I don't think JOHESU are mad people not to agree to cooperate. For instance I am working with medics and other health personnels as a team of HSE officers in a firm. Our bond is so strong dat no alien can come inbetween us. The doctor who is our head does not go and fight alone for the salary or other benefits of medics. We have one salary structure with different percentages for call, shift, hazard allowances etc with d medic having highest percentages followed by pharmacist, MLS then the nurse. The head medical officer goes to top management meetings to defend the course of HSE and not medical doctors alone. You need to see him fighting for us, a leader of all, a father of all. He has also affirmed that NMA is not a good leader. 1 Like |

phantom: You should also include radiographers too. Anyway in my opinion there is no place for consultant any other thing in the hospital setting.. it holds no benefit to the patient and we all k ow it's all about specialist allowance. Then post graduate program is already open for those who want to run it to PhD level and nobody is stopping them. |
