DrayZee:You've gone from "no cultists in those universities " to 4 or 5. Now, how many cultists do you think it takes to launch a reprisal attack? But thats BTW. The major point you are trying to deflect from remains that real missionaries gave blacks orphanages, free and close to free primary/secondary schools etc most but your black pastors rather establish business in their name than establish those things that can be affordable to their fellow blacks who contributed to them. And your attempt to deny, downplay or deflect from that fact makes you sound like a badly brainwashed retar*d. |

Thank you HigherEd. You have exposed the foolishness of many who pretend to be wise. I heard Rev Dr. Chris Oyakhilome make a statement years ago. He said "you do not establish a school to make profit." The years have gone by and I've seen those words to be absolutely TRUE. This is the same Pastor Chris who donated 1billion naira at once to Benson Idahosa University, but yet doesn't run a school of his own. It is not difficult to identify great men. A school like Covenant University will be putting in far more than they're getting in terms of revenue. Let the talkers continue. In these last days, the difference will become even more clear. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

please let me add to those question what concern the church about quality education? The work is just to teach the word of God and let us av the fear of God And Obey God commendment. Just look at it in a good way th money to build the church is paid by both the rich and the poor both only the rich ar benefitn. Am jst tired of all dis religion issue our pastors and alfas ar usin the best motor buyin private jet and the memba remain poor. LaExpert: My profession does not allow disclosure. Does not mean I dont know. In closing my submission, I wont waste time on people like you whose business it is that Falz highlighted. Falz mentioned politicians, fulani herdsmen, those on codeine diet, Yahoo boys, SARS, even took a swipe at the IGP. But its only "dagbo" church men who have specialised in hoodwinking the masses that are up in arms. The real men of God would be insightful and analyse the statement and ask why it resonates so much with the masses. But no. Here you are trying to "educate" me. I only pity people who key into your "educaion", because that is the source of your "market". Am out. 2 Likes |

princfred:Oya now, tell where you heard of reprisal attack in Covenant or any of the other universities. I'm not denying anything here. They gave free secondary schools, I agree (even though the government took some of them over because they weren't free ) Your missionaries did not build any university here, not to talk of making it free. There is no free university in the world. The "missionary" universities are 10 times more expensive than Covenant. Covenant is affordable to Nigerians and that is why it doesn't lack students. They give scholarships to the intelligent but poor among them and that is enough. If you're not smart enough to pass scholarship exam, and your pocket no reach , then go to where your pocket reach. 1 Like |

White Christians who built Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Yonsei, Notre dame for the rich also built and contributed to building free / cheap schools orphanages etc for the poor. Why black pastors and christians own must not be affordable to the poor? |

White Christians who built Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Yonsei, Notre dame for the rich also built and contributed to building free /cheap schools , orphanages etc for the poor even for Blacks. Why black pastors and christians can't build anything dedicated to be affordable to the poor? And whatever they build with peoples money must belong to them privately ? Is that how missionaries did it? |

drealtruth:Wow. For Winner Chapel and Covenant/Landmark, I think you should apply to the David Oyedepo undergraduate scholarship foundation (I think this year's own has passed). Inquire at the church if you're a member. I don't know much for other churches. |

The only set of people speaking against church here are the poor, trust me. Who is forcing you to pay tithe? who is begging you to give for the building of the church or for univesities? how much is the poor giving compared to what the rich is giving as tithe? if the church sponsor all the poor people what about the rich? may i remind you that no one start great every one started small to become great, it all about survival of the fittest. Before we judge the church let not forget that we are the church and if you are not giving to the poor in your locality so why dnt we all cut the crap huh? Falz that is talking how many poor people has he helped personally? is he not a rich person? #judgers |

Government with all it's funding , you will see state universities that pay up to #1.5 million yearly to study medicine (check Edo state university, Iyamho). Even other state universities where school fees is not less than 300k. Esut pays #300k as developmental levy not school fees oh and people are spewing trash about churches. Even in Islamic universities (Alhikmah, Illorin) you need almost 700k to read law. The basic truth is that to give quality educations is costly and if you can't pay for it, settle for anything that you see in public university. OK, let's just say that covenant reduces it's school fees to #200k today and in the next 2 years, they fold up. It's the same people that are talking today that will say the church went to carry load that they can't carry. Biko, if falz thinks it's easy let him tell his daddy to open university for the poor and also become a pastor so that he will use offering to subsidize school fees. If he ever does it, I will start going to his church. How much do most of the people even give??, that will pay pastors, run church programmes like Shiloh and the rest, social services and then fund the universities?? Many Nigerians are good detractors, if they don't like the church they should stop paying offering nah. The same people will send their wards to Cornell University, to pay huge school fees but if they see their fellow Nigerian, they will feel that he is eating all the school fees. Abi, when a Professor in Babcock don't see his alert at month end, you will tell him that you are doing the work of the Lord by reducing school fees for the poor. As if you knew how hard he worked to defend his thesis. If you no fit go church universities, go to Islamic universities or other private universities, otherwise keep writing jamb and wait for God's time. 2 Likes 1 Share |

princfred:The point here is that they did not build free universities anywhere. And the ones they built are not cheap either. They also have scholarships for the poor to attend their secondary schools. Stop closing your mind. If you know you're determined to leave here with the same mindset you came with, then inform me now. I can't be typing to someone who's not willing to accept when he's wrong. |

Alot of people have digressed from the point here but it's ok. Everyone wants to talk. Is good upbringing and godly devotion meant for "the few poor but intelligent ones who can pass scholarships"? Is Christ teachings meant for only class who can pay high fees?? The church shouldn't have set up institutions that can only be available to a select few in the society. Institutions that further widen the gap between the rich and the poor shouldn't have any place within the church. My grandma was quite poor, her English wasn't so good coz it was tainted with Yoruba accent but her writing is so beautiful ! She writes in cursives! She went to a missionary school and paid close to nothing. Think about it: If the Temple/Synagogue in Jesus time had a University and Peter and Luke were to write scholarship exams, who do you think would have gotten scholarship to study medicine? The system might have pronounced Peter a dullard and Luke as intelligent. Churces should think about Jesus first in all dealings. They should build primary and secondary school that are still quite easier to manage and make it available to the masses. University education isn't the pinacle of success. |
