For sake of fairness, against England, I would want us to start Ighalo as the CF and at half time depending on how the game is going we feature Simy.

But if you ask me, I think this Simy looks more threatening than Ighalo.

As for Lokosa, he did very well even though he was played out of position. Even if he doesn't make Russia, he has done enough to merit future invitations to the national team.

Simon's injury has made the selection a bit easier for Rohr.

Ezeji: Simy Nwankwo, Lokosa Should Make Eagles World Cup Squad

Former Nigeria striker Victor Ezeji has urged Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr to include Crotone striker Simeone Nwankwo amd Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) top scorer Junior Lokosa of Kano Pillars in his 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Both Nwankwo, also known as Simy, and Lokosa made their debuts for the Super Eagles in their 1-1 draw against Democratic Republic of Congo in a friendly on Monday in Port Harcourt.

The two debutants gave a good account of themselves, especially Nwankwo who went close on several occasions and hit the post but was unlucky not to score.

Speaking as a pundit on SuperSport, Ezeji, who played for Sharks, Dolphins, Enyimba, Eagles Cement during his 20-year playing career, posited that Nwankwo would be a very good option to have in attack alongside Odion Ighalo.

“Simeone keeps the ball, attacks the ball and shows a lot of qualities. Odion Ighalo cannot do it all alone,” Ezeji said.

“I know a a good striker when I see one. So for me Simeon should be in Russia.

“For Junior, he can also make the squad to Russia although he is still growing. He is young and may not have the experience but with his performance against Congo, he can be considered.”

Up next for the Eagles is another friendly against 2018 World Cup-bound England in Wembley Stadium on Saturday, June 2.

I don't want to talk again outside 30 man list but Rohr need to mange this team especially midfield.

What happened to Brazil against Germany would be a child play cos the team was exposed due to players with similar style of play (Fernadinho,Paulinho,Ramirez,Gustavo) in the midfield and with players like Onazi, Etebo,Agu,Joel,and Ogu am foreseeing issues if not managed tactically.

It's apparent that without Mikel the team will keep on struggling.Hope Rohr will do the needful tactically.

Its been 3 matches and he hasn't made a statement yet.. No successful forward dribbles yet, No defense splitting pass yet, No direct shot on target, No commanding presence in the middle.. All puffing and huffing... SMH

Ogu will and have done better than what Joel Obi has done. Ogu brings a calming presence, Ogu can shoot from a great distance and with Accuracy too.. That's the difference between them. Ogu is grossly underrated in this team. Nobody seem to be sold on him.

You can't have Ogu in your middle and won't see 2-3 shots from the middle in a game. You can't have Ogu in your middle and not see 2-3 driving runs in a match. He has done that consistently right from 2013 Against South Africa and Mexico, sadly he missed 2014 world cup. But he did it again against Algeria and Argentina last year.

Anyways i am certain that Rohr will take him to Russia and together with others, they will shine. But Joel should be dropped ASAP. He is currently surplus to our requirements

Cramp is simply contraction of the muscles so a person with cramp will also hold where the muscles contracted. Also, he held his toes suggesting it was just cramp.

Yeah, like that has helped Oshimen get a better club or even get proper minutes in a relegation threatened club. Most times we wear glasses blinded by sentiments when we start analysing these our young players, if you are not good enough to make it into a top club then you do not deserve to be given a chance. Iheanacho made it into Man City's team without any external help, only a fool would say he didn't eventually merit his call up. The older Nwakali too was getting great reviews from coaches everywhere without getting called up, no national team influence there. For the junior Nwakali to still need the national team as a stepping stone then maybe we should look closer.


If Masch wakes up to realise that he will be playing against Nwakali as the 10 then trust me he would have a nice, happy nap on that match day and even if he wakes up 10minutes to the game he would still pocket him

I think Iwobi is only good for the bench, as far as I'm concerned The guy never mature reach.

When Ekong scored how many people showed their excitement? Some of us here are not here to cheer the team as long as the selection doesn’t favor them. Yes we had a bad game as a unit, but these are some good things we can take away from it:

1. Lokosa made the local league look good
2. Simy was unplayable. Some of his challenges were fair but the ref blew against his physical superiority. His pressing game was top notch considering his frame. Etebo should have scored. Simy hit the bar and had a great back header effort which hit target. He brings something different and special to our attack.
3. Musa’s form is something to be excited about.
4. We were fortunate to make a move on Ebuehi. He will come handy for us at the Mundial and many years after.
5. Some players just made Rohr’s job easier
