Oga, you must be new on the forum.. Have u been paying attention to what partners go through smh.. You want gated community, u want experience drivers, must reside on mainland etc ..and you didn't request for "assurance" deposit of at least 10k.. Ol boy better and read the forum asap., coz if you do come back on the forum to tell us stories that touches, we no go pity you and you want a driver asap ..poor fella he must be new town... as a matter of fact I get driver for you.. Call Gazzuzz and ask him that you want his old driver "Tony" .. And he will connect you to him... make Tony teach you small lesson in risk management.. Smh

Bros, I don't understand why you're trying so hard to coerce every partner into collecting the security deposit. Is it your car? The likes of you and gazzuzz that collect security deposit still litter here with stories that touch. Every partner must not be like you.

Uber collects cancellation fee, taxify doesn't. Gazzuzz collects 3k delivery fee to supply his 'one in town' Mobil 1, others don't. So please, allow other partners to do as they wish. While you concentrate on collecting your so called assurance fee from new drivers, others prefer to do due diligence and get good drivers with no stories. Everyone to his own kettle.

And to the drivers that are paying this assurance, hope you know you ain't getting that money back. And lastly, if you must pay assurance money, please, let it be a tokumbo. Don't pay assurance on a lemon car o!

I collect Security Deposit and he his getting it back.

Security Deposit (Assurance) isn’t the property of the car owner. It’s the weekly rental that’s not refundable because that belongs to the Car Owner.

Security Deposit can’t be enforced on any Car Owner because the car is the person property and he/she decide what to do. People can only advise because of their previous experience which the new car owner about to start Uber business can either choose to collect or not.

Someone once claimed on this thread that he doesn’t give his Uber driver any Agreement form to signed and someone also claimed he doesn’t collect Guarantors from his Uber driver. Some collect Guarantor and doesn’t verify etc.

Whether to collect or not (Security Deposit) is a choice which the Car Owner can only decide.

If my Uber partner (driving the car) decide to drop my car today his security deposit is currently waiting for him in a separate account and he his getting his credit alert before I collect my car key.

Am sure if we don’t have cases where some drivers default on a pre-agreed weekly rental the case of collecting Security Deposit wouldn’t have started in the first place.

If possible, I would like to do prepaid weekly rental, so that I don’t have to collect any Security Deposit from the driver.

I think if Car Owners start doing prepaid weekly rental there will be no need for security deposit.

But the question is, would you as a driver prepay your weekly rental?

Also if prepaying weekly rental is implemented, are we not setting the barriers of entry too high for new drivers?

Not at all Sir! Setting such barrier is not to high for serious minded drivers who are ready to work and handle your car with care.

Let me quickly ask some questions.

Please do share with us, as a Driver why you default in your weekly rental?

If it has happened to you before as a driver, what went wrong? What cause it and what did you do after that to ensure it never happen again.

As a driver, if you have never defaulted before in your weekly rental, what do you do differently from people that has defaulted.

Please come and share with the house.

Haaaaaa.

To be fair, honest and from my perspective (what I observed during Driver recruitment) it might be too much asking a new driver just onboarding the platform for prepaid weekly rental.

Some experienced driver (Not all) could afford to prepay weekly rental (Don’t let the Earnings screenshot deceive you).

Am sure some drivers wouldn’t accept to drive some cars which they currently use if they are prepaying their weekly rental.

A driver who is prepaying his weekly rental can makes demands of the type of vehicle he need for business but with the current postpaid weekly rental, such drivers don’t have a choice than to collect while seeking alternatives.

Lwkmd!!!!. Most Taxify riders are sadists. First thing they will say in a very rude manner when you call or they call you after request acceptance is "Where are you? Come to so so and so place and they will leave you wondering if the rider is mentally deranged. "Had a similar experience, rider called after I accepted her request and was like come to the street showing on ur app and behold when I got there after 10mins of navigating through very bad roads and I called her to announce my arrival and she rudely said to me that the address on the app was wrong that she stays two streets away....... embarassed

Lol, sorry. Some will even tell you to come fast and you drive like James Bond to their pick-up point and they be like please give me 5 minutes I am coming and you'll wait for another ten minutes they won't still come out. Some will still be bathing and make a request only for you to get their and start waiting for them. The Job can make one go crazy mhen. Uber riders are more better, most times they'll be patient for you to get to their pick-up point.

You know what? You guys are very correct , I don't have to force anybody. But henceforth, no partner should come on the forum to tell stories that touches the heart.. After all we are here to learn and help people.. I was trying to open the eyes of the blind and dumb.. Are u aware of how many emails I get on daily bases ? Sometimes two or three, these are people thanking me and asking me for advice.. And I charge them not one penny or kobo..

You are rite my brother.. By the way raining season is here.. Me am taking my time.. Am waiting for the first batch of cars to fall victim to the rain.. The people that will suffer are ones that uber is the only source of income.. For a fact I will slow down bringing in cars ...once the rain settle down, will hear stores that touches.. Partners if you like continue driving your cars in the rain and all the bad places.. My advice which am not trying to force anybody, if you have a few fleet the ones that are down coz of the affect of the rain, just park quietly o till the rain either stops or roads are better.. There is no point fixing the same issues again that was caused by the rain and than put it out their to cause the same problem.. This is a mechanic season or they go chop money clean... I was even planning to give him one of my tokunbo cars till I was advice not to ...we finally sack him collect my money.. This is way before assurance clause.. My brother I hope you are OK o .. Before you drop your assurance, wouldn't you get a form of receipt back or written agreement stating T&C of your deposit.. You statement kind of support the argument that uber drivers are highly uneducated.. Retract that statement for the sake of your profession ...you own that to the graduate that are driving uber..

Wow what a story.

Please do you ever get a chance to speak with him after the incident?

And for everyone that has come to share their stories on the job, am definitely sure the new and upcoming drivers have learned one thing on the other from your story.

This is part of what makes you experienced. They (New & Upcoming) should have learned how to handle such situations if it ever happen to you on the job. Do not abscond, do show up, empathize with the rider and be human.
Although some riders are evil but am definitely sure you would feel better knowing that you apologized for your mistake and leave the rider with his/her conscious for whatever next step he/she takes with regards to the situation.

You also have see why using recommended phone is very advisable. You don’t know who your next rider gonna be.

Yes mistake do happen but please do show up and call the rider to apologize for the mistake. Don’t abscond.

Showing up and apologizing to the rider shows it’s truly a mistake but absconding means you did it intentionally.

Kudos to everyone who has come share their experience we appreciate you and I know upcoming drivers would appreciate this feedback more.

Thanks to everyone who has shared their story and God will definitely bless your hustle.

Thanks.
