CodeTemplar:lol which federal university gets 11b annually? if you are not in the system stop making assumptions!!! i'm not in the system either but I come from a family of career lecturers (unilag and UI). according to my dad ABUAD is currently getting more funding than Unilag. he was in ABUAD for 2yrs on sabbatical and he testified to how much private universities are investing in equipments for research and infrastructures. no federal university gets 11b annually!!! |

CodeTemplar:lol I told you im technically an insider and you are still arguing blindly. 2017 budget for education was less than 500b naira http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/budget-2017-sad-story-nigerias-education/ shared between universities, COEs, polytechnics and federal unity schools 40 federal universities in Nigeria. see list here https://www.dailyschoolnews.com.ng/federal-universities-in-nigeria/ 21 federal polytechnics https://www.nigeriaschool.com.ng/federal-polytechnics-in-nigeria/ 21 federal colleges of education https://www.nigeriaschool.com.ng/federal-polytechnics-in-nigeria/ 37 federal unity schools in Nigeria https://www.myschoolgist.com/ng/federal-government-unity-schools-in-nigeria/ universities can't get up to 300b out of the 500b. what is 300b/40 unis? let's give 200b to 21 COEs, 21 polytechnics and 37 unity schools to share. first let's start will salary for teaching and non-teaching staffs of all the almost 100 federal higher instructions. can you imagine how much their salaries will be? how about the salaries of those in the ministry education in Abuja and the various liaison offices in 36 states they won't work for free!!! how about the cost of paying pensioners? note that salary and pension come directly from the ministry of education. now tell me how much do you think is left for the federal government to share for the institutions to execute projects of their own desire? also take note that students payments and all sort of income for the institutions nowngo directly to the FG's TSA. even if you want to pay unilag 500naira you'll pay with TSA so the universities are not earning a penny in their personal accounts. occasionally the FG releases money for new infrastructure and maintenance of old ones and also for utility bills (power and the super fast unilag internet connection I use every weekend). but on the average unilag gets less than 2b naira yearly for infrastructure both maintenance and building of new ones!!! where did you get your own 11b from? i'm talking as an insider if you can identify lies in my post prove me wrong btw don't call me a liar next time except you are 101% sure 1 Like |

Jaideyone:Stop the LIES. You divided N300bn b by 40 but your brain should prompt you that all unis don't get equal amount. Or am I suppose to take you words over Okebukola's or UNILAG VC's? Stop the LIES! |

CodeTemplar:lol see this from your own link My position is that if there ’s a choice between free education and good education at all levels , I choose the latter . It requires N 1. 2 million on the average to thoroughly teach a properly accredited course in the university . With the population of about 40 ,000 at UNILAG , we require N 48 billion per annum . We are able to attract about N10 billion or N 11 billion from the Federal Government if you want to use that 11b removed salaries of all lecturers in unilag akoka and college of medicine for a whole year. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Lagos there are almost 1200 lecturers in unilag from that write up. if an average lecturer earns 250,000 in salaries (note that professors earn at least 450k without allowances so average of 250k for all lecturers without their allowances is very very fair). 250k*1200 that's 300m on lecturer salaries alone monthly!!! 3.6b yearly remove salary of office staffs (typists and co), security men, cleaners, porters, lab assistants, drivers, etc. I can't speculate much on this but let's give it 100m monthly and 1.2b yearly remove cost of electricity and internet for offices, cost of printers, inks and papers, etc remove the cost of computers for departmental and faculty offices yearly. note that my dad has not received a laptop or desktop computer from his department in over 3years!!! he's using his personal computers. remove cost of maintaining staff quarters. the lecturers pay highly discounted rents. I stay in a four bedroom flat in a serene environment at less than 1/2 of what it will cost if I rented the same apartment outside. remove the cost of maintaining student hostels and paying for hostel security, cleaning, etc. remove the cost of buying research equipments and chemicals for sciences, health sciences, engineering and co. note that I was in luth idi araba between 2007 and 2011. we used 5-10yr old microscopes in the faculty of pharmacy, idi araba. both faculty of pharmacy and department of pharmacology didn't have freeze drier I had to oven dry my fruit juice for my research in 2011 and I got lesser result than using the fresh fresh fruit juice cos heat destroyed most of the active constituents. go to faculty of science and engineering and see engineering equipments that should have been replaced 10yrs ago lying down useless after all those costs I listed up there there's barely nothing left for infrastructure!!! stop arguing blindly!!! now tell me how unilag can afford to spend the whole 11b on infrastructures when all it's income goes to TSA!!! the school will be lucky to have 1b left for new buildings at the end of the year!!! |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by Jaideyone(m): 5:19pm On May 29, 2018 |
CodeTemplar:don't forget to add the cost of maintaining classrooms too your ignorance is baffling 57k students in total and you want to educate them with 11b yearly. what a joke |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by CodeTemplar: 5:26pm On May 29, 2018 |
Jaideyone:Which school has 57k total and how much is their allocation from govt? Is it UI or UniLag? I await your response. |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by Jaideyone(m): 5:31pm On May 29, 2018 |
CodeTemplar:unilag had 57k as at 2013. note that the number increases gradually each year so 2018 is definitely more https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Lagos on a budget of 11b yearly with my analysis up there staff salaries alone will take at least 4b yearly!!! now tell me the school won't be lucky to to have 2b left after other expenses!!! |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by CodeTemplar: 5:37pm On May 29, 2018 |
Jaideyone: Your ignorance is appalling. The point of contention here is the average cost of educating a public uni grad per year and not how the fund is shared for various expenses. It cost 275,000 to educate the average UNILAG grad and the VC puts the optimum value at N1.2m, you guys are always whining about 600k or 850k private school that provides those thongs your vc is demanding N1.2m for. You couldn't challenge my factual link and had to resort to misinterpreting it to make irrelevant arguments. Admit that University education cost a food fortune and CU isnt over charging anyone or shortchanging the poor. It is so glaring from my submission. |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by CodeTemplar: 5:45pm On May 29, 2018 |
Jaideyone:Stop talking trash boy. Seems you know about UNILAG in 2018 more than the VC. The figure for UI is even higher for UI at 430k per student each year. now compare facilities in 430k UI (excluding tuition oh) and a Landmark Uni that charges 600,000. |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by CodeTemplar: 5:55pm On May 29, 2018 |
Jaideyone:Your are trying to separate the lecturers salary from the fund that goes into subsidizing the students. That's against the principle of accounting and economics. |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by Jaideyone(m): 5:56pm On May 29, 2018 |
CodeTemplar:lol what is this illiterate saying? and you are calling me a boy. unilag has 57k students both under and postgraduate. that is what in saying!!! argue the cost of salaries and all those other things I stated up there and give an objective opinion of how the school will still have billions left after all those expenses!!! you call someone a boy yet you have comprehension issues |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by CodeTemplar: 6:05pm On May 29, 2018 |
Jaideyone:Sorry for calling you a boy. You are a kid. How can you separate the lecturers salary from the money that goes into educating the students. Who are the lecturers imparting knowledge on? Your accounting skills are pathetic. 1 Like |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by Jaideyone(m): 6:08pm On May 29, 2018 |
CodeTemplar:lol see who is talking about ignorance. how do you intend to compare both schools without taking into account the number of students in each school and their yearly budget? I've analysed the budget of unilag for 2017 using the number of lecturers and non teaching staffs and likely cost of salary, utility bills, maintainance, research equipments, office expenses, etc. all for 57,000 students of unilag https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Lagos prove to me you are not the ignorant one and do an estimate for CU that has 15000 students https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covenant_University you claim to be working on facts and you are not close to the system yet to u can't give me links to support your wild claims. tell me how unilag will take care of 57k students and 3k staffs with 11b and have 1b left for a beautiful stadium in one year!!! |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by Jaideyone(m): 6:11pm On May 29, 2018 |
CodeTemplar:how did I separate lecturers money when I calculated it as part of the 11b? you are one confused fellow!!! the 57k I mentioned is the number of students not the cost of educating 1student!!! Jesus do I have to open your brain? |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by Jaideyone(m): 6:17pm On May 29, 2018 |
CodeTemplar:for the umpteenth time the 57k is the number of students not the cost of educating one student Jesus see brain |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by CodeTemplar: 6:30pm On May 29, 2018 |
Jaideyone:Can u pls point out where I implied 57k is part of cost or cost? The whole world is watching. |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by CodeTemplar: 6:31pm On May 29, 2018 |
Jaideyone:So how much did u get after dividing 11 billion by 40,000? The world is watching you and I. |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by Jaideyone(m): 6:34pm On May 29, 2018 |
CodeTemplar:good to why did u drag into cost per student when I've only been talking about running costs for the school? go back and read my posts |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by Jaideyone(m): 6:40pm On May 29, 2018 |
CodeTemplar:I never argued over the cost of educating a single student!!! but if you want to take it that way 11b/57000= 192,000 that is why the VC is right to say it's not enough!!! that is why I used 10yr old microscopes for my biology practical that is why my department didn't have a freeze drier that is why we were packed like sardines (6 in a room) in luth hostel that is why we only had a few hours of light daily and we slept in darkness!!! the guardian article advocates that 36b yearly will be appropriate for unilag which will jack up the cost per student to about 600k per session and give the students better education!!! |
Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by CodeTemplar: 6:50pm On May 29, 2018 |
Jaideyone:Stop adjusting even the figure's from the VC of that sch. You can't know more that him. 40,000 is the number of student the N11bn covers. Your stubbornness and ignorance is clear. |
