whyqueu: The best way to do it, if he has several accounts transfer all the money to one account. It will reflect that it was sent from his other account. Others it will be a redflag if another person deposit money just for the sake of the interview. Or print out all his account statements if he has the total amount required, then present it |

whyqueu: Congrats , there is no rule against having more than one account ......Immediate transfer can always be a red flag . One option can be to print all the various bank statements, carefully arrange and staple all together and then put a one page cover letter . The cover page should explain for example that my dad or Mr X has 5 bank statements attached , listing each with closing balance and then staple all together .... That way the one page cover note explains to anybody the multiple accounts and balances 23 Likes |

Is it true that I have to wait for six months after being denied a student visa before reapplying? |

Mervyn98: Most likely. I guess the US embassy is tired of having to deal with people applying for re-interviews after they've been denied, clogging up dates for other applicants. 1 Like |

I called the US consulate in Lagos today and was told that if denied a visa, you can reapply at any time and I also went to the consulate for the education USA orientation today and confirmed from a visa officer present during the orientation that appointments can be scheduled anytime after denial. 3 Likes |

ghs007: Yes. But getting a date is the issue. Once you click on previously refused, there are no available dates. Ask them if you can use regular to apply instead of the the previously refused option. Cos for the regular option, there are many available dates but fear of misrepresentation is the issue

Damidala1: There is no right answer and no one is going to manufacture one for you. Simply go tell the truth and see what you get. Herein lies the problem, most serious schools will require a standardized test - even regular Americans take the SAT or GRE/GMAT when applying to US schools. The majority of schools who don't require these tests are either visa mills or schools with minimal application standards simply looking to cash in on the lucrative education business. The VOs know this and are highly suspicious... are you choosing these schools because you truly want to study or simply using them as a vehicle to emigrate to the US? On the flip side, people who apply to top schools like Duke, Harvard, Princeton, Rice are rarely ever here seeking advice. They don't need it. These are typically people who are serious, know what they want and how to get it. They do not require to be spoon-fed, they go after information they need and typically get their visas approved. Even the relatively few who come here rarely get turned down for visas. The US embassy is not peopled by anti-Nigerians, they simply want to know that they are giving visas to those who are really serious about getting a solid education, not miscreants seeking to scam their way into the country. 4 Likes |

josh49: That is a serious problem. Report the error to your school and have them send you a new one. I hope you learn a lesson here - the laissez-faire attitude of Nigerians to everything does not work in other countries. |

josh49: why didnt you ask before fiddling with white ink ......... People make mistake everyday so initally wasnt a big deal but the best way to correct a mistake is just I am not sure what the next step is or if you can still use it , but next time no white ink . There is another thread that VO addresses question so maybe you ask the VO on that thread 2 Likes 1 Share |

Thanks for this ma. I can't be happy with the fact that others are being denied. I have been there twice, during my first application B1/B2 and also when I took my daughter. I have never seen so much crowd like I saw today. At a point, I was also scared of being directed to her counter. I was just surprised at rate at which that particular woman denied so many, even with so much crowd. LagosismyHome: 1 Like |

monistick: What did you expect? She should approve everyone because there is a crowd? The point is we would not be here today if we were just a teeny bit more honest. Simple. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by femi312: 3:26pm On May 30, 2018 |
TWoods:This is actually very true but I don't agree with the part that people who apply to top schools 'rarely' seek advice. I believe seeking advice and spoon feeding are entirely two different things. Coming here to ask for third party opinion or advice about two different program shows seriousness/characteristics of a serious student unlike coming here asking people to suggest schools, application deadlines, school requirements etc is spoon feeding and characteristics of an unserious student. My point is people who get offers from 2 or more top schools seeks advice from experienced people just to make a better decision on the offer to accept 12 Likes |

have been having difficulties uploading passport on ds160 form, though it says I can continue without uploading but I should come to the embassy with a hardcopy of my passport with confirmation page, but I want to ask if its okay that I should go with that or I should just take my time and upload a passport. thanks. |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by TWoods(m): 3:51pm On May 30, 2018 |
josh49: Even worse. You can request for another I-20. You will have issues with using white out on a sensitive immigration document, either at the embassy or at the POE. It's the rule of thumb even for ordinary work documents, never use white out... if you must correct a document, use only one cross-out so the error is still clearly legible, then initial the change. Best practice, get a new document. The VOs default thought is that you are lying, you're making his case stronger with white out. |

YoungTesla: The image is in line with what I said earlier. The population of India runs in Billions thus you have twice or more the number of potential F1 students compared to Nigeria, and also higher number of F1 students from India in Nigeria compared to Nigeria. Notice that all these 10 countries listed have one thing in common - very high population. In terms of probability in math, the higher the population the higher the frequency of occurrence. The point I tried to make earlier is that if Nigeria has 10 million potential F1 students hitting the embassy yearly, India has closer to 70 million yearly and their visa interviews/requirements are tougher than that of Nigeria because the embassy definitely can't let all that huge number in but overall you get more F1 Indian students than F1 Nigerian students because of their much higher sampling size/population. 5 Likes |

Damidala1: From your premises you should know what your answer is. Take any of the exams for taking sake just to have something to present to the visa officer if asked. Paying N45k for TOEFL or N50k for GRE is cheaper than N57.6k for your second visa interview. My 2 cents. 4 Likes 1 Share |
