My Visa was approved today at Abuja Embassy.
My transcript goes like this:
VO: Good morning, can I have your passport and I-20?
Me: Good morning(with a smile). I gave her.
VO: You are going for a Ph.D. at the College of William and Mary?
Me: Yes
VO: What course?
Me: Computer Science
VO: Are you married? Do you have kids?
Me: No, I am not married. I have no kids.
VO: Do you have any relative in the US?
Me: No
VO: What do you do?
Me: I am a network security administrator at bleep company.
VO: Your visa has been approved. She gave me my I-20, a white A4 paper with all information on where to pick my passport. And another small white paper with reminders I should note before I travel to the US. I walked out cheerfully.

Thanks to all my fam on the GRE thread, you guys are terrific. And to those helping folks with information here, thank you so much. I learned so much searching for answers from past threads.

To all those going with VIU, please reconsider. I witnessed a guy being queried with his VIU admission. He answered all questions confidently. However, if you were there, you would observe that the VO would not give the VIU guy the visa. Please be wise. If you like, you can contradict my opinion, I won't reply. Thank you all.

Hello house i have issues with my i-20 i signed on the parent/ guardian option, I already used a white ink to clear it out, hope that wouldn’t be a problem

The white out makes it looks invalid but you can ask your int'l advisor for a new one. They print new one in no time. Courier delivers in 2 days. If not, you will have to go with it like that and say you made mistake over mistake.

No, let them go to be one of the victims of VIU admission. Only a stubborn fly gets cemented with juicy corpse. We told them every time, VIU is like now closed Trump University. Only that the owner(s) hasn't come out running for a public position to get the mill shutdown.

so far I only got an email with my admission letter attached but haven't heard or seen anything that has to do with how my I-20 form will be processed. Is there anyone on here that applied to the school or know how long it takes to process the I-20 form after one has been admitted.

Congrats , there is no rule against having more than one account ......Immediate transfer can always be a red flag .

One option can be to print all the various bank statements, carefully arrange and staple all together and then put a one page cover letter .

The cover page should explain for example that my dad or Mr X has 5 bank statements attached , listing each with closing balance and then staple all together .... That way the one page cover note explains to anybody the multiple accounts and balances

Hello gurus ,

Please can I present Stock Account/investment as a prove of financial Document ?

have been having difficulties uploading passport on ds160 form, though it says I can continue without uploading but I should come to the embassy with a hardcopy of my passport with confirmation page, but I want to ask if its okay that I should go with that or I should just take my time and upload a passport. thanks.

Please go to a standard studio and take 2x2 passport.
Don't try to submit without uploading a passport. You'll most likely be turned back and with the no dates thing, you should know better.

I believe it takes equal time to send an email to the graduate school or international admisions office or your department secretary as to post here. Those are the people that can give you first hand information. Whatever anybody tells you here will not be a fact. However, one week is a short time to start getting worried about i20, they will definitely send a follow-up email.

Honestly speaking, that should not be a problem so far as you sign correctly in the right section made for you to sign, and briefly explain to the VO about it if asked. They may not even bother about it. Even photocopies of i20s are acceptable at the port of entry, as confirmed by the US embassy.

Oga, stop being confrontational.

Schools don't take stock investments for purposes of I-20 and I believe the embassy will not consider it for F1. The only case where people use their shares for embassy interview that I am aware of is for the B visa.

Now this is the way out.

Since you say your Father is a Stockbroker, tell him to look for someone to transfer like *2 of the amount you need to his stockbroking firm, let your Father have his stockbroking firm transfer the amount to his bank account.

Once the above is done, print the statement and take it to the embassy, note the amount and explain that he sold his shares and transferred the money to his account once he learnt that proof of stock investment is not acceptable.

Please ensure that the money you guys would source must first be transferred to his stockbroking firm, before transferring to his account, because that is the only way the above explanation would make sense.

Act fast before they withdraw your visa.

On the submission that there is always market for stocks, Please don't go and say it anywhere again o. FTN cocoa, Daar, and Unic have all hit 20 kobo, the minimum price, and no one is touching them.

Well said bro,

He's has a shares in the stock market and I'm actually including it alongside the bank statement Thou. whichI have the full amount for my first year in his bank statement. But the Visa officer said on the white letter that I was given today that " statement of account showing the funds for First year and Plan for second year" .

Now , my dad has a shares of about 7 million ,which does not make sense to sell right now for the sake of it since he has the money for my first year on his statement!! That is why I'm asking here for Guys to advice me which is not too ask for. Some peeps here get so worried because a wrong step can be costly but an advice/information can save Lives .

You're right. All school wants is your liquid cash, which can be transferred to their account at once or by payment plan. They don't care about one stock story. Just pay for the services they rendered to you like that at POS and don't forget to get your receipt. Shikena

Hello Guys,

I'm mad grateful for this thread. Please I need some information, I went for my F-1 Visa interview this morning and the VO took my passport, I-20 and bank statement, gave me a white paper and told me that he wants to check my bank statement. the bank statement is extremely legit.

Can I still be rejected and how long do these checks usually take?
