Martz101: Last time I checked, yaya toure is as slow as a tortoise.... Buuuuuuuuut.....highly effective. Pace isnt everything. Technique and effectiveness will get you what pace cannot. This doctrine of pace was brought about because of our mad love for the EPL. Nothing more. How much of gra gra soccer do we see in Germany or spain or even italy. .? I will not talk until after the England game. Then we can place skill and pace side by side and decide which is better. 4 Likes |

Joebie: That was were he played mostly in the Nigerian league before he left for Europe. Rohr just gather players without considering their natural role. He is a makeshift CMF or AMF in the National team. Let see how things go this friendly. Maybe we can have a clue of what is on Rohr's mind. |

Oasis007:I.e as an inverted winger. A few people have said the same. It honestly depends on who is playing in the middle. He can obviously swap positions with an Ozil but not a Mikel. This is why I've been advocating for moving Mikel a bit deeper. Play Iwobi or even Etebo (if you're afraid of Iwobi's workrate) in front. When you have Iwobi - Etebo - Vic Moses or Simon Moses - Iwobi - Vic Moses behind Ighalo/Iheanacho, what you have is a very mobile and fluid front 4 capable of interchanging position at will. A Mikel as a Dlp can still be a big creative influence. Build up play will be better and they'll still be enough creativity in the final third. |

Martz101: You sound like you just stArted following the SE. NFF still get to influence some of the list. Take it from me, Etebo won't be dropped for Agu. Take this to the bank. Etebo is even more useful than Agu and can do what Agu can't do. We have 3 of Agus in the SE already but 1 of Etebo. |

Yes, it's gonna be LIVE on BeinSport USA 11AM on Sunday. And you can check your local Bein sports channel as well, if you live outside the US. But for some reasons, they don't have England vs Nigeria anywhere on TV. I find that strange. O pari Famocious: 2 Likes |

kennysville: Thank you for bringing up yaya toure. Yaya toure has been slow from his twenties which is his Barca days under pep,he was never a fast player,he knows how to guide he got no much pace,he is regarded as one of the best midfielders. What about busquets? That na na snail, but very good with the all and one of the best DM for the past 8 seasons,so being slow doesn't really matters 1 Like |

Etebor can not play the central nor defensive midfielder than Agu and you can take that to the back. |

Etebo was a left winger for Warri Wolves ? I have to check that. Clubs will not take players who are bent on playing only their natural roles. Which is why you see players who would say they are willing to play any role to help the team. It’s all about the teams needs at every giving point in time. forgiveness: |

Martz101: And did my post say otherwise if you actually read my response with an opened mind? My post responded to your comment accordingly. Didn't say you like nor hate him. Asking where NFF was when the names you listed were dropped doesn't change anything. Now, lets continue talking football. |

Good analysis, edi. This is actually what I have advocated here in the forum a few times. And that system would improve us defensively as well, especially against a loaded midfield team like Croatia. Unfortunately, I don't think that Mikel would ever agree to give up that #10 role. O pari edi287: |

Joebie: Yes! Infact, he was the second highest goalscorer at one time in the NPFL. He's a forward player and not a defensive minded player. I will rather drop a midfielder to accommodate Etebo because of Simon's fitness. Sometimes if goal craze enter em head, he can perform wonders. 1 Like |

I believe it is a marketing strategy. Make it scarce while demand is high. What do you expect will happen? People will be willing to pay more. How can Nike not have extra production realpoacher: |

Icon79:For me, it's the only way we can deal with teams that'll decide to press us from the front. Onazi - Ndidi pivot gives us a solid defensive foundation but I honestly doubt it'll be able to handle relentless pressing. Mikel will eventually have to drop deep and we know Onazi and Ndidi don't contribute too much attacking wise. It's honestly a shame Joel Obi hasn't been able to bring his club form to the team. He'd have been a better option than Onazi imo. He's better on the ball and is just as energetic. It's not clicking for the guy 1 Like |

kennysville and andrew, thank you both for a very sound analysis right there! Most fans think that speed in football is all about pace. That's totally wrong! Speed in football is all about time-space management. This entails proper reading of the game to cover passing lanes when you lose the ball and freeing up yourself receive pass when in the offense. To break it down to elementary school levels, it's denying your opponent the time and the space to operate. Like the legendary Xavi said “At Barcelona we understand football as a time-space concept”. Martz101:It could work if Joel Obi can transfer his club form to SE. Mikel as DLP with Ndidi and J Obi in front him. Joel Obi can also play on the left. He's quite mobile and can drift out wide. Unfortunately it's not clicking for him |
