Super Eagles Training: Rohr Continues To Test Out Five-Man Midfield Variation; Aina Involved Published: May 31, 2018 Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has continued to test out a five-man midfield variation at training ahead of Saturday's friendly against England, and this might be his preferred formation at the 2018 World Cup. He divided the squad into two teams containing eleven players each for a training game after the warmup and physical exercises. Team A lined up with a 4-2-3-1 formation and contained holding midfielders Eddy Onazi and Joel Obi, just as they were deployed in Monday's friendly against Democratic Republic of Congo, Obi Mikel played as the central attacking midfielder and was flanked by Victor Moses (right midfield) and Alex Iwobi (left midfield). As for the Team B, they took on the 3-5-2 shape with Elderson Echiejile and Tyronne Ebuehi operating as left wing-back and right wing-back respectively. Leicester City pair Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa, and Porto's Mikel Agu completed the five-man midfield. Chelsea defender Ola Aina took part in the exercises and ball work but was on the sidelines at the start of the practice game before he came on for Team B as replacement for Echiejile. Croatia Scout: Rohr Has Doubts About Super Eagles GKs & Fullbacks Published: June 01, 2018 Croatia National Team scout Ognjen Vukojević has revealed that Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has doubts about his goalkeepers and fullbacks ahead of the 2018 World Cup. Everyone can predict that the likes of Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Obi Mikel, Victor Moses, Odion Ighalo, Alex Iwobi and Eddy Onazi are the likely starters against Croatia on June 16 but there is uncertainty regarding the fullback positions and the goalkeeper, though Francis Uzoho looks to be ahead in the pecking order. ''It is visible that Rohr has several other dilemmas, that he is not sure who will be his goalkeeper, who will play on the two sides positions,'' Vukojević told Sportske Novosti. ''But I will not get into deeper analysis. We will of course now everything there is to know about Nigeria. Firstly, I will tell everything to our coach. He will have all the information.'' Abdullahi Shehu, Tyronne Ebuehi, Ola Aina and even Kenneth Omeruo are competing for the Super Eagles right-back spot, while Elderson Echiejile, Brian Idowu and the former England U19 skipper have been deployed at left-back in recent training sessions. Rohr must announce his final roster for the World Cup by June 4, 2018. Ifeanyi Emmanuel http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=27977 |

Moses Simon Leaves Super Eagles World Cup Camp, Scan Confirms He's Out For 3 Weeks Published: June 01, 2018 Moses Simon has been finally axed from Nigeria's preliminary World Cup squad after scans conducted in London confirmed that he will be out of action for three weeks. The Gent winger was at the Hive Stadium on Thursday and underwent a series of scans as his international teammates were sweating it out in their penultimate workout before the friendly against England. ''Simon is finally out of the 2018 World Cup and he is unhappy that he won't be traveling to Russia with the Super Eagles squad,'' a Nigerian Federation insider told allnigeriasoccer.com. ''The scan performed on Thursday confirmed he will be out for three weeks. Simon just left the Super Eagles hotel and said he is going to Belgium.'' There are presently 25 players with the national team in London and coach Gernot Rohr must drop two more players by June 4, 2018. The Super Eagles will leave their hotel for the Wembley Stadium at 1645 hours for their final workout before the friendly against the Three Lions. This coach is fooling himself. Is he serious? Which team doesn't have team spirit? Does he thinks other teams don't have the mix of team spirit and world class players? He is fooling the gullibles not me. No wonder! The bolded suggested that somebody is here watching. I don't believe that statement. it's false. Rohr Explains Why Super Eagles Don't Need A Mohamed Salah In The Squad Published: June 01, 2018 Manager Gernot Rohr has said that the Super Eagles don't need a Mohamed Salah before they perform well at the 2018 World Cup and has stressed that the unity in the team has been key to their success. The former Bayern Munich defender has repeatedly stated that there are no marquee players that can single-handedly determine the outcome of matches and they will have to play as a unit if they are qualify for the second round of the World Cup. ''I think it's fantastic for Egypt to have such a player, just as Argentina have (Lionel) Messi or Croatia have Luka Modric,'' Rohr told Deutsche Welle. ''But we have a good team spirit instead. It is not the individual quality, even if that quality is huge, that will make the difference, but the best team spirit. This is more important than having one Mohamed Salah.'' More than ninety five percent of the players named in the updated preliminary World Cup roster represent foreign clubs and are from different tribes and Rohr has insisted that it is not difficult to create a good team spirit. ''I don’t need to create that. We already have a good team spirit because everybody is happy to come and to play for Nigeria and to represent the green and white colors. ''And on the field we keep it simple. There's usually not much time for preparation so I use simple tactics that all the players can understand no matter which club they play for,'' he added. The Super Eagles will gain a lot of confidence ahead of the World Cup if they beat England in tomorrow's friendly after wins against Poland and Argentina in friendlies. He scored a hart-trick in training from the left wing, just as VicMo a RW can also do well from the left. Iheanacho can deliver that cross from the left when needed. I don’t know if u played the game sir, but do u think good strikers can convert headers from the left and right with the same ease? Icon4s: 1 Like |
