I survived NNSS Borokiri till they kicked my ass out, boarding house was a major life transformation process for me because i went from "ajebutter" to "Thug life" overnight. I remember entering Jss1 with a very heavy box and coming back home for holidays with an almost empty box, they stole almost everything i had because i was a careless amateur ajebutter, they continued to steal all my stuff until i got to Jss2 and became a 'cartel member'. My school father was one of the 'baddest' seniors and he made me a 'young thug', by the time i was in Jss3 i had become so notorious that even the seniors consulted me for 'jobs', i was the 'go to guy' for contrabands, smuggling in of suya, fried yam and just about anything you needed from the barracks or outside school walls. I finally got kicked out for masterminding one of the biggest heists ever, i miss those days though, bitter sweet memories, you had to be sharp to survive and never display weakness or you will be taken advantage of, back then we feared and respected our senoirs so much that they were like 'mini gods'

Baba, nice gist. But the gist no complete na. Tell us about the heist...lol

I can relate to everything you've written and if any of these happened after 2001 then I almost certainly witnessed it.

[quote author=Sapiosexuality post=68096493]Discipline? Lol. There is no discipline there. I was in one of these Force schools and the wickedness was too much to handle. I'm not sure I missed anything when I left. I also did same but they refused but for the day a pastor(is it my dad's friend) came to my dad's store and told them to take me out of that school. I was lucky. Lol. The restrooms left a particular bad odour in my nose that even after I left it took months to expel. No matter how organized a boarding house is, none of my kids will go there.

Dorm teaches you how to survive in Nigeria at a very young age. Kids that lived in dorm are more sharp, adventurous, rugged, smart etc than those that didnt. It's not a bed of roses but if other kids can survive there, why can't your own kids

Still remember the first thing someone, a senior, said to me on my first night. Lol. I was scared to my marrows. I can't forget that.

Senior: What is Your Name?

Me: My name is ....

Senior: Ha-ha, you are in the Jungle, you never know. You never know!

Lolol. My dying tears was alive again. Smh.

That's true but it messes your head up. It creates a false version of how people ought to behave and it encourages you to master how to respond to these false created version of how people ought behave.

When I left, I found it hard to forgive the seniors who flogged and tortured me that my friends back in that school(who suffered more) called me petty. Four years after I still couldn't forgive them. Wickedness at that young age broke me.

I don't think it makes you better than kids in day school. It only makes you better in a society that has concluded that stealing and wickedness is going to be its forte. In the two years I spent in day school, I learned maths better than the 4 years I spend in boarding house.

I was happier. I had more freedom. My day school was against teachers or anyone flogging the students and this helped me mentally. I could go home knowing there is no punishment waiting for me because one boy refused to sweep his corner.

Lol I only lasted a year as a boarder.
I was a stubborn 9year old in jss1 with lots of senior "enemies"
Thanks to my eventual school mother in ss3 I punished most of them.
School mother graduated,my enemies tripled so I saved myself the stress of returning for jss2
Who asked you for all this?

I rep FGCOkigwe. Hope House hostel. Fond memories. It was really though for 5years but endless bliss awaits at SS3. From the bullies, to the poor food, poor hygiene, harsh weather, theft, gyspies. Mehn the place was hell. I contracted chicken pox in my JSS1, then Scabies, then usual malaria, fever, but I survived them all. Had lot of nicknames, each year new nickname lolz.
Sundays to Thursdays were walk in the park but Fridays and Saturdays were days of hell. Manual labours and inspections spoilt our Fridays and Saturdays.
Everything changed when we owned the school in SS2 third term. We became the bullies and were in power. lolz. Life is really turn by turn o
