Well, it’s obvious here who have a comprehension problem here.

Nike cannot be burden to turn Aba tailors into Global brand! Once you mention Aba made, the common denominator that runs through people mind is inferior product!

I don’t think Nike will want to put money to market such item with bad reputation.

You are Ibo and that is why you are arguing in this subjective manner, you will only appreciate what is involved if you are objective.

Start creating the right image and branding for the tailors in Aba and see if reputable sport wears marketing firms will no come.

Quality and perfection is not a destination but "a work in progress"

The perception you have of Aba product is your mindset , and Aba is beyond your mindset.

There has been ongoing deliberate attempt by the present government in Abia to rebrand Aba products which is already churning results.

This guy reasons like a moro.n at times that I wonder if he is educated?

His he so daft that he does not understand the whole package that comes with kit sponsorship?

Does he think kit sponsorship is just tailoring of jersey that will be handled by a firmless entity?

I didn't know that Aba Tailors is now a name of a kit sponsorship firm.

Maybe he should tell us how much of Aba Tailors sport kit have been sold internationally before and what international outlets Aba Tailors Inc. have established globally to generate his delusional $100m.

Even Enyimba FC of Aba does not use Aba Tailors as a sport kit sponsor, because they understand what the business of sport kit sponsorship entails.

Sometimes it pays to eschew irrelevant populism for true common sense.

I had always thought this dude was presidential material, but he has proven tirelessly to be as clueless as his fellow Bayelsaman Jonathan.
abeg 3 gbosa for you jor. All he does is make noise. As if the jersey is our wahala right now.

Don't mind the "importation drunk" Nigerians we have here. In close contact, they would have thrown a tyre around Bruce's neck and burnt him alive without understanding the point he was making.
One needs to tread carefully in this country.

Yet all aba products are also imported. Or is there a textile million in Ava that manufactures jersey materials?

Nonsense tweet. So Nike that paid good money to sponsor the super eagle's kits should now allow aba tailors sew the jerseys? What will be Nike's gain then? Aba tailors should go and sponsor the Super Eagle naa. Someone that didn't publish his own book in his country is now calling out a foreign brand for doing their business in their country. Hypocrite senator

You missed the point. Trump is fighting to make America great again. But Nigeria is stuck with anything else but Nigerian. How can Nigeria grow as a nation when they fail to do the little things they can for themselves? We rely on foreign engineers for major road construction. We rely on China for common toothpick. We rely on oyibo to refine our crude oil. We even rely on a foreign firm to kit our national sports team.Yet some of you think it is straight about economics. The trade war going on in the world being spearheaded by Trump is as a result of every country protecting her "economic" interests by fighting against imposition of tariffs. Ben Bruce is right. Nigeria is a shameless nation. The idea of self-reliance is non-existent.

Aba people do not make jersey. They import inferior materials from China and sew.

Export it to the world from Nigeria... its a world cup, their is a ready market, the more your players advance, the more your internally produced jerseys are going beyond even if they are not the tagged "Nigerian original".

Its gives the local brands an international name..
It gives your local online market proceeds..
Nigeria has the population for internal purchase as well as affordable and availble..
The international markets are regulated and can stick to a sole distributor agreement..

Ben is obviously too advanced for Nigerian mentality..
so You Mean Aba Tailor Should Sponsor Supper Eagles As Well. You Sound Like Ben-brunce Himself Because You Don't Understand How Nike Get Its Reward For Being Eagles Sponsor.

Do we manufacture jersey materials in Nigeria?

Aba traders import inferior materials from China and sew in Nigeria. Is that what you want Nike to partner with? You can only say that if we had the capacity to manufacture these products here in Nigeria. So far every aba products are still imported from China.

It is bad that Ben does not understand economics.

He does not understand that the hype around the jersey was sponsored by Nike. The only raise the jersey is getting huge ratings is because of the advertisements and not the jersey it self.

And then Ben Bruce is misinformed as Nike have come out to say that the 3 million preorders is actually not true

Really? So, building a brand as Silver Bird Group and reviving the already dead cinema industry you and I now enjoy was a fluke... Maybe you have a better achievement than Ben or are more learned than him...please show us.

Never have I seen a collection of cowardly and lazy people like those called Nigerians. Americans are presently fighting the world for America, Europe is pushing back for Europe, China is retaliating for China, Canada is angry for Canada..... but Nigerians are angry with fellow Nigerians expressed by their mockery of their rep in government for resisting poverty that should be in favour of their future....

Hopeless.... hapless people.

Trump wants the steel industry back. America presently does not have the capacity to produce the steel it needs. He doesn't care. He wants the industries and jobs back. That's all. Germany makes the best steel. China makes the cheapest steel. Enough excuses for the lazy. But he said America cannot mortgage its national security depending on its rivals and enemies to keep it going. The way we are going our people will one day walk around with their private parts dangling around because China and almighty Nike refuses to clothe us.... shame.

All these dummys castigating Ben Bruce seem to have comprehension problems.
It simply amazes me that all you guys all seem to think in one direction only.
I wonder why it appears so difficult to understand the very very important point that he is making or trying to get across.

The issue here is not about branding, but about the actual manufacture of the jerseys. After , Nike Does NOT manufacture anything. Nike contracts the manufacturer of all their products to sweatshops in Third World (shithole) countries in Guatemala, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc. A lot of Nike's products have been found to be made by child labor in slave like conditions in these countries.

The point the Ben Bruce is asking is that why shouldn't Nigerian labour, ABA manufacturing prowess to be specific, not have been considered for the manufacturer of Nigeria's official Jerseys, an enterprise that would have created jobs and $100m into our national coffers ?
Isn't such that one of the functions of a government ? To woo and encourage foreign investments , especially in an area in which we have local talent has been proven to be abundant ?
Are ABA manufacturing prowess not ripe or good enough for international manufacturing contracts from the likes of Nike and other sports wear brands ?

Isn't this where a responsible government that wants to create jobs come in and play a role ?

Ben Bruce is not criticizing Nike's branding or marketing rights. He is criticizing all of us, all Nigerians , our small mentality, our inability to think beyond the periphery.
