Dropped down of ASI, is an indication that all is not well. For instance, when Brent and WTI crude oil price started dropping, before you will know it, other will be affected too, and when you check after some days, you will find out reasons behind their fall.

Loco, you would have follow sell in May philosophy. We just enter June and you buy back in June. What if you see Zenith bank price at #23 soon and #18 later? Maybe you will average down, all join.
Some friends reported how fight broke out among GTB bank directors and CEO, if GTB price goes down to #28, it will affect Zenith bank.

Seems the news of some in-house fighting between 2 executive directors of GTB and the CEO Segun Agbaje may not be unconnected to the last minute fall we saw in the price of GTB today.
A friend just informed me that 2 directors of the bank (head of corporate services & corporate banking) have resigned following from some irreconcilable differences with the CEO.

In the interim, I do not think this can have any negative impact on the banks operating model/performance. ...'cause as far as I am concerned, GTB remains the strongest coperate banking brand in the country.
However it could be that some insiders in the know may have already begun to react negatively to the news.
...investors almost always tend to overreact to market related trends.

We continue to observe.

Cheers.

grin grin how can you still be typing and Aremso "snatched" the post from you and replied.

Simple, you mistakenly sent the post and the man replied you.

Think its good to know/realise one's mistake, feel bad about it, apologize where necessary and learn from it.

Who made mistake? I had to re-read the discourse over again.

Aremso didn't make any mistake to reply a post he saw. If the poster mistakenly sent the post and layer went to modify it, anyone can reply to the post seen on the thread.

How would someone know that a post is being modified? grin

No mistake from Aremso in my opinion.

For bosses in the house doing US equities, I learnt WHT is charged at 30%(at least for foreigners). Has that been your experience so far?

Given that dividend yields are mostly sub 3%, does 2.1% investment returns make it worthwhile enough?

Are you sure it is witholding tax? Isn't it Capital Gain Tax?

The CGT is taxed at the same rate as income taxes and it gets higher if you stay shorter in the market compared to those who stay longer like Warren Buffett.

He didn't mention the bank, please which banks were at verge of collapsing. Yaradua government introduce acquisition policy, Intercontinental bank, oceanic bank and host of others, was affected, CEO sacked and their banks were acquired. While some banks like "bank of the north" was political rescue.

Instead of allowing banks to fold, sacking of bad CEO and acquisition should be more better.
Before I forget, did anyone here have knowledge of the banks he was talking about?

The only one that didn't release results could be the most likely.

Also it is possible that the one that had negative results may be in ICU. 2018 will tell us more about the state of that bank.

This shows that CBN is not telling us everything.

I just hope that it will not trigger a domino tumble on others.

Hoping for more lows. At least one can get more.

The fall seems to be localized to just the big caps.

Saudi and Russia want to increase oil output. This will add more to the supply.

So there is no crime replying to such a post.

Write up says 30% tax on income is withheld by the broker, and no capital gains tax is charged on foreigners' portfolio.

the only condition that will make someone to encourage you to buy now is because he is in the mkt as well. if person like my friend LOCO is not in the mkt he will talk against the mkt more than anyone out there.

Why are you so confident giving incorrect data out? How many Months of May in the last 20 yrs actually ended negative? Oga the data is free and it's online. You don't even have to go to NSE office to confirm stuff like this.

This whole "I'm prophetic" stuff is getting ludicrous. Go and look at how other Frontier markets charts are doing and see how not so special we actually are.

Full disclosure: I didn't buy anything in May.
