Are you this dumb? How can you use 2013 figure to divide 2018 allocation and get what govt spends on each student in 2018?

How old are you?
you are the slowpoke. ask anyone in that passed through the four walls of a university. the number of students increase slightly year after year. I don't expect you to know that since you are just one mumu illiterate trying hard to form intellectual.

so if you need a figure for a research you don't know you are meant to pick the latest verifiable figure? since I couldn't find a verifiable claim later than 2013 I picked the one for 2013. no one said i'm hundred percent right in my estimate of what the government spends on each student in 2018 so shift and find something to do instead of looking for dumb loopholes.

if there is anyone that is dull and arrogant it is you. go to the unilag website and see where it was stated that the population has exceeded 40k. the website home page which is the primary source of that info has probably not been updated in over a decade yet you want to take it that the population is that round figure of 40,000 instead of a figure of 44,602 for undergraduates and 12,581 for post graduates (as at 2013) which seems more like an accurate census figure. yet you are trying too hard to parade yourself as an intellectual? grin now who's the dull one now?

let me go the extra mile for you Mr pseudo intellectual. the 2013 figure is from unilag itself!!!

go to the wikipedia page and click on the reference "1" in front of that figure and it takes you to the unilag website to download a file "university of Lagos pocket statistics.pdf" which was retrieved from the school website itself as at 2016. check the attached pictures. make sure you click the reference "1" and "2" in from of the figures to take you to the website.

how could any sane mind believe the round figure of 40k against the accurate census data that was available on the website? grin

now I ask again who's the dull one? cheesy

btw college of medicine (MBBS, BDS, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, radiography, pharmacology, nursing, MLS, etc) and faculty of pharmacy alone has more than 5000 Undergrad and PG students. My public health PG class a few years back had over 100 students for one single PT program grin so how could anyone expect the population of the whole school not to exceed 40k and be even higher than the 57k as at this 2018? grin

pls visit the wikipedia page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Lagos and follow the references "1" and "2" to the unilag website before you come back and argue again grin

29 yes old fo,ol keep arguing against the words of the man who is in position to give the most recent and accurate figure. I gave you links to a 2018 source quoting the VC. So you think in a gathering where potential sponsors are seated the UNILAG VC will quote outdated figure and make wrong projections of financial implication of running Unilag to the whole world. Even wikipedia and Unilag site administrator get their figures indirectly from the VCs speech and you are here trying to argue stupidly against it.

I think onlookers have their own brain to decide who is the dunce between you and I.

FYI I passed that mark years ago.

you are the fool for still disputing figures that came from the official university website under a document titled "University of Lagos pocket statistics".

you want to believe the VCs round figure of 40k but you call me a fool for believing something that seems more like an accurate census figure that said there are 45k undergrads and 12k PG students from the OFFICIAL WEBSITE!!!

So the VC also rounded off equivalent of 4,000 students times N1.2m which is N4.8Bn annually when projecting what it would take to effectively run Unilag to the whole world. I salute your stupidity. Keep it up.

read detailed explanation of what I said!!!

I said unilag gets max of 2b for capital projects. now you even justified my claims and brought the 2b I said would be the maximum that can be spared for capital projects down to 1b.
he was talking as if the whole 11b will go into capital projects. that was the origin of the argument.

were you blind where I stated in my post that the money goes into salary? unilag gets less than 2b yearly for infrastructure!!! which includes new buildings and renovation of old ones. he even put the figure lower to 1b.

so how's that different from what I said? you ignorantly inferred that unilag should have several billions to spend on infrastructures out of the 11b which a big lie as salaries alone will take more than half of 11b. you are the one with comprehension issues!!!

unilag had 57k as at 2013. note that the number increases gradually each year so 2018 is definitely more

on a budget of 11b yearly with my analysis up there staff salaries alone will take at least 4b yearly!!!

now tell me the school won't be lucky to to have 2b left after other expenses!!!

Are you aware most of the CU hostels cost approx N350m to build and most were built between 2001 and 2005. Even at N2b Unilag has no bloody excuse.

I heard the CU stadium was built with less than a billion.
Now think about what even N1bn/year could have achieved for UNILAG talk less of your wuruwuru N2Bn you negotiated through many post.

You are still arguing aimlessly. CU built most of those hostels you see with less than N400m, That means Unilag can afford to build equivalent of two of such hostels yearly and still have huge change for equipment like microscopes, PCB machines etc. I pity you. Stay there and be defending wastage in the name 'representing'.

wururu 2b was an estimate I did from info I got from a member of senate committee first hand and higherED has confirmed that's about what the uni gets for infrastructure yearly. the question is do you know the 2b will also include the cost of maintenance of the old structures?

CU caters for 15k students like I said earlier. unilag caters for 57k (almost 4x).
but you want to enjoy the same quality facilities in unilag with larger population? you think the cost of maintaining class rooms and other infrastructure for 57k students and 15k students will be the same?
the 2b might be enough for CU but it's too small for unilag!!!

what you are saying is similar to saying since Anambra survives on 4b monthly without owing salaries then Lagos should be able to survive on 4b monthly too with 4x the pop of Anambra. does that make sense to you?

btw how many old hostels and classrooms does CU have to maintain with lesser student population?

in unilag alone there is
mariere hostel, Amina, Jaja, scholars hostel, newest hall, moremi, el kanemi, kofo, sodeinde, etc in akoka and OPH, block 1-4 and nursing students hostel in college of medicine.

start by telling me the number of hostels CU has and tell me cost of maintenance will be the same.

then do the same for classrooms.
cos classrooms also get renovated from time to time.

now go ahead and do the same for staff quarters (note that new blocks were built for staffs beside health center with TETFUND). there is High rise block A,B,C and several duplexes and hundreds of flats for staffs both within school and outside school (yes unilag operates off campus staff quarters for its staffs under agreement with landlords of big buildings). I stayed in one of such off-campus staff quarters around ekore bus stop in Oworonshoki for years. the compound had 16 flats and it belonged to the popular Woman that owns majork oil and milk and magnet savings and loans. unilag took control of the building for over ten years to house it's staffs since there was shortage of buildings for staffs within the compound.

where do you think money for maintenance of all these facilities come from?
grin from that big 2b grin

Use your brain/imagination more. I don't have to spell it out for you always. If the CU hostels can cost N350m how much will it cost yearly to maintain it? You are still trying to inflate running cost in order to justify the wastage going on in most federal schools.

Re: Covenant University's Stadium Almost Completed (Photo) by SammieJayh(m): 6:43pm On Jun 02, 2018
You can't say they admit more students every year...they get more applicants every year as the number of secondary school leavers increases...but they can barely maintain their facilities so they cut down the number of students yearly... In 2015 and subsequent years...the VC/DVC at UI released a statement saying they can/could only admit about 3000 students out of over 30k applicants who scored above 200... 3000 is a small number compared to what they'd been admitting in previous years...

So you see there's a posibility that the 40000 stated by the VC of Unilag cover both UG and PG students...

There has really been a decline...

plus in 2015 from the link in that post above unilag matriculated 8600 students and graduated just 5k+ students.

confirm the number of graduates for 2015 here

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/198964-unilag-produces-178-first-class-graduates-20142015-session.html

According to him, out of this number, 5,472 will receive first degrees

for 2014 unilag matriculated 6448 students
and graduated 5k undergraduate students

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/06/unilag-graduates-89-first-class-students/

note that matriculated students are only the undergraduate students. PG students don't matriculate grin

plus we've not been considering the DLI students o grin or are they not students too?

lol less than 100 students are expelled from unilag yearly. the list is usually pasted all around the classrooms and various departments for the whole world to see.

the school matriculated 8k and graduated 5k.

3/8*100% is 37%. if you passed through the four walls of a school you won't speculate that at least 37% of students will drop out during a four year course grin
