I chose the 3-5-2 (or 3-4-1-2) formation because it is the best that would ensure that the team exerts its influence in the middle of the park. Too many times within the last 4 matches, the team has cheaply surrendered the midfield to the opposition; thereby resulting in unnecessary pressure on the defense.

Ighalo has a relatively poor goals to games ratio for the SE, hence Nwankwo should be given a look-in. Musa performs best when utilized as a sub, and Victor Moses isn’t a bad wing-back either

Other national team coaches gave explanation why some certain players were dropped. The Nigeria head coach should tell Nigerians why the likes of Aina was dropped and why Onazi and Joel Obi made the list.

Aina is the weakest of all the left wing back

Its not rocket science, for a team to be balance, you have to go with a no of midfielders. If you need 5midfielders and have to choose from 5midfielders and 2defenders, all the midfielders will make the team irrespective how good those defenders are except they are utility players

OMG, dropping Ola Aina is totally unfair, this is the guy that has England future, but he chosed to play for Nigeria, Plus he is very good attacking and can dribble. Let the coach explain to us why Echiejile and Idowu are better than him.

the fact that he decided to represent Nigeria instead of England doesn't give him an automatic ticket to the World Cup. It's only Echiejile he can challenge in that defence, and the Coach might have picked Echiejile over him cos of experience.

We don't have the depth of players like in the past, we can only hope the coach have made the right selection and wish the boys well.. Winning a match will be a successful outing for this team in my opinion..

Aina has been useless in all the matches he has played for Nigeria. He was terrible against Argentina and Congo. Only a person who does not follow the Nigerian matches would want Aina in this team. There is no sentiments here, he failed to show any quality when he was given the opportunity. Elderson played all the qualifying matches and was never as bad as Aina. Those are facts. As for Agu, it was a toss up between him and Joel and the coach went with Joel because he can play as a midfielder, winger and left back. For an obvious reserve player, such versatility is important.

Thumbs up! Considering those on the provisional list, it would have taken a very calamitous display to drop both Onazi and Joel Obi.

Rohr certainly did not have much to choose from.

4-2-3-1 musa behind ighalo 4-4-2 musa ighalo up front 4-2-1-3 moses behind iwobi ighalo musa... 4-3-3 moses in midfield even 3-4-3 elderson LCB left centre back he is a defensive full back so playing left centre back would be easy ebuehi will play left wing back he should be able to play the position then moses right wing back

with that kinda first formation, Argentina will beat us beyond repair.
