I want to know the processes on adopting a child in Nigeria. It's been my desire to adopt a child for a long while now and I think I am ready.

I am not married, so know that I am not adopting a child cause I can't bear children, I just feel like taking a child off the street and the child must bear my name..

So what's the legal procedures in adopting one..

Maybe you should have a chat with young single parents first before thinking about adopting a child as unmarried person.

c its not only nigeria dear.even western countries no matter your sexuality,dey want two people in a partnership esp marraige . its poor countries like ethopia DAT bend d rules becos she get money And was helping the children. Its he LPs d child to not rely solely on u,but there is anoda help In d life of the child..backyard adoption is easier but too risky . jail time sef if things go south

Why don't you volunteer at an orphage home first, if bonding with a child and rendering a service to humanity are what you're after?

Op go to ministry of women affairs or orphanage homes. They will tell you what to do. Make sure you adopt a boy child.
I am also looking that way.

I rarely have time for myself not to talk of having the time to volunteer at an orphanage home that's why I want to adopt.

Its a long process, but it is possible, it will only require you to be dedicated, to used and determined.
I don't know where to start from with you, but from the threads I could see that you are a guy, living alone.
....
Where are you? Which state?
The welfare/probation officer (depending on the state) will have to inspect/assess your house to know if its would be suitable for the child.

What are your plans for the child... This is the most important area... Care, medicals, education, social, religion and your financial strength would also be considered.

Will there be a woman with you?
What will happen if she is not interested in the child.
Your work schedule, will you have te for the child to monitor and train as a family...

And so on....

Why do you want to adopt an infant baby girl as a single MAN? Especially with all the paedophilia happening in the Nigerian society and around the world?

I personally will not feel comfortable with the idea of a single man adopting an infant girl. Too many men out there are pedophiles. If Nigerian men have no problem sexually abusing their biological daughters, then how much more a child they are not biologically related to?

A child is not a dog. If you are looking to live and bond with something, get a puppy.

You don't have time for yourself but yet you want to bring a child into your life? So that means you won't have time for the child either then. Who is going to raise the child if you won't have time for the child?

I don't think you are ready for the responsibilities that come with parenting. You have some more growing up to do. Focus on taking care of yourself for now.

I don't think you are ready for the responsibilities that come with parenting. You have some more growing up to do. Focus on taking care of yourself for now.
Hahaha before I decided that I wanted to adopt, I must have thought about it, don't you think.

Who will take care of the child when you go to work?

Do you really know what it means to care for a child and have that child depend on you?

I'm assuming you are a guy. Are you willing to stay up with that child at night?
Can you be there for a child that's crying and can't express him or herself?

Lots of things to consider before you decide to adopt a child.

Having a child is not a decision you make and "unmake' it's for life.

Maybe you should go to parents that can't afford to care for their children and ask them allow you care for one of them.

Or you can buy a dog if you need company.

I already know the situation I am getting myself into when I adopt a child.

Anyways I have spoken with some number of people and their response has been positive. What's remaining is the legal aspects and some formalities, hopefully by month end, I will have my baby..

I just hope they don't turn me down.

With the rate of child abuse in this world, I don't trust anyone anymore.
