Yes Iwobi is creative. He is confident with the ball on his feet, he moves well, positions well, does not indulge in unnecessary dribbling runs, he passes the ball and is also good in 1-2 passes when he wants to navigate some tight and intricate obstacles set by opponents, if people like Ighalo makes the right move when he has the ball, he passes.

Yesterday his pass to Ighalo was surreal, watch it again, it flew over the English defenders in a horizontal projectile manner and when Ighalo hit the bar, he was quick to react. He also dribbled well, sent a diagonal ground pass in the path of on rushing Idowu but awkward Joel got in his way and spoilt what would probably have resulted in a goal or at least a well taken shot would have unsettled the English keeper.

Creativity is not flicking the ball over peoples head needlessly, or nutmegs when your mates are better positioned waiting for you to pass to them. Those are beautiful nonsense.

If we are to go with a 3-5-2 formation, I believe giving Moses the liberty to attack will. With Iheanacho upfront pairing Moses, we will have pace and movement upfront. Iwobi supplies the firepower to the forwards while Mikel dictates the tempo.

I really like selection/formation, especially Iwobi playing AM, to me it looks like thats the most suitable position for him. I would sub Idowu for Etebo though.

thats the problem bro lol. majority of our players careers have been stunted because of the selfish interest of their agents. onazi leaving lazio for trapzonspor was a downgrade , same goes to omeruo who rejected deals from la liga, belgian and french league clubs but ran to turkey on loan just because they offered more money. look at awaziem for example, he was demoted by porto to their 2nd team, had a goodseason in the portuguese 2nd tier which attracted french club nantes. we joined on loan and shone, winning few man of the match awards and making the team of the week in few occassion. that is what progression is all about. even awaziem is courting interest from epl new boys wolves, ligue 1 giants lyon and nanates who took him on loan last season but porto insist he will be an important figure for them next season. another good example is CIV Eric bailly.he moved to manchester united after having stellar performances in la liga

Mikel was the biggest culprit in the first half doesn't mean I didn't see anything wrong in Onazi.

However, as it stands, he is the best available DMF on ground pending Ndidi is fit.

Similar to what my uncle saw live. Onazi really did himself in yesterday. What a game to have himself so exposed. I know what he brings on his day but mehn... we also got to see what he brings when he is in shambolic mode. He made it damn hellish for Mikel and also for Joel. Even Joel Obi himself didn't help matters by the way he was so unsure in his positioning and how jittery he was which made him even run into Balogun. Na wa for Joel!

He and Onazi were the worst players on the pitch yesterday and in that first half. Anyone saying Mikel is responsible for Onazi's rubbish is talking crap. Absolute crap. Mikel was the only ball holder and retainer of possession in our midfield until Iwobi moved centrally in the second half joined by Etebo and then John Ogu as LCB.

Mikel and Iwobi interchanged beautifully between AM and CM from the beginning of the second half and we saw a Mikel that remains the best Shielder of the ball in the team which draws markers to himself only for him to send just one pass to his team mate into acres of space. Example of this was when he found Ebuehi with a genius of a pass down that right channel of the midfield into the attack.

I could drop a full analysis of every single player but you all have definitely done justice from various angles.

In all, It was good and I mean very very good to see to see Rohr respond immediately and promptly to the flaws noticed in the first half BUT LET IT BE SUPER-STRESSED THAT WE WOULD NOT HAVE SUCH OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE FOUR CHANGES AT HALF TIME AT THE WC. WE GOT ONLY THREE CHANGES TO MAKE AND THIS IS WHY FROM THE WORD "GO" WE MUST HAVE OUR VERY BEST FORMATION AMD STRATEGY ON SHOW. We may not always have enough time in the second half to correct mistakes. Sometimes, 45 mins are not even enough to grab a goal

You needed to see how I was so animated. The first calls I made was for Onazi's change, and that of Joel... and also that of Shehu. Not that Shehu was as bad as Onazi and Joel but because he was too timid at RB. But it must be stated that England's attacks in the first half mostly came thru Idowu's wing... Idowu was good on the overall and made some very vital blocks but I could count like three or four of England's attacks that went easily through his side. Idowu must please watch his overlapping and positionings going forward especially when we are playing 4-2-3-1 and not 3-5-2.
He flourished in the formation change to 3-5-2 but that was also down to Ogu's brilliant shift as LCB. He brought absolute calm to our defence. Only a few of us could have guessed that Ogu could be featured in a 3 -man backline.


In all, I love what I saw in the second half compared to the first half. It was a game of Two halves. England owned the first and that brought out the best in Uzoho (that second goal though.. he could have done better but tall goalies struggle with shots hit that fast and very low but it is noted and he can work on that).. but we definitely owned the second. We should have secured a draw but Rohr did not act fast enough in introducing Nacho. Nacho came in late and never had enough time to break through that English defence that fell deeper to see put the remaining minutes and earn that 2-1 win.

I believe in what these guys can do. We made England look ordinary in the second half and we kept the ball so well. Etebo did what Onazi was finding it so hard to do... Ogu brought calm and Ekong was beautiful. His run to stop welbeck breaking through was top notch. Omeruo was solid and did well covering his side of the defence. A good stand in for Balogun I must say. Awaziem will mature more and lead us going forward but for now he must play deputy to Omeruo as backup for the Oyibo wall.



Mikel and Iwobi did a Xavi and Iniesta. Just what I have been praying for in the Super Eagles. A midfield of Mikel-Iwobi and Etebo dominated The English midfield in the second half for most parts... so just imagine what a Mikel-Iwobi-Ndidi will do. That is a major food for thought! We have Gold here and we are being so shy to exploit it!! haba!!

I will speak more on this midfield combo as time goes... but for now... let me just end by saying... The team I saw in the second half gives me great hope.

And this settles one talk finally:

"We have a great (or very good) bench going to Russia"

I see us winning or salvaging a few games from the bench. But again... we must not always look to the bench. Let us thrive to get it going from the first minute.

Fantasy team for the game against Czech..

Right from time, I had my fears for Aina. I would have preferred having him in Russia but sadly Rohr confirmed my fears for the lad.

Aina at LB didn't give us much to be convinced about for the most parts when he did feature at LB and this scenario coupled with Echiejile being the only left footed fullback in the team (plus his experience) made it quite a decision for Rohr to make. Especially when you consider how Rohr badly wanted this guy, Aina.

Aina is naturally a RB and his ability to use both feet made him a choice at LB too having played there a couple of times this past season for Hull City. Honestly going forward I would love to see Aina tried at RB so that he and Ebuehi can own things there alongside any other quality RBs coming through. We can no longer keep using a make-shift Shehu post Russia. To make this team excellent, we must plug the round pegs into round holes... enough of makeshift nonsense Post-Russia. Shehu is a DM and should be made to provide cover and competition there going forward..

Allow Aina to join Ebuehi at RB and let them push each other to greatness and to their fullest potentials in a healthy competition.

In conclusion... for this WC, it is sad Aina had to go. At LB , he was not good enough so Rohr had to take Echiejile alomg based on certain factors (some of which I have already listed).

Aina is still a core part of the team. See you Post-Russia Aina.
