Ohhh... Madam Next level... thanks ma'am. Really have been so hooked but I was definitely following all the action surrounding our team. This team will surprise in Russia. We showed guts at Wembley and the addition of an Ndidi will shut out the mess Onazi and Joel brought.

I feel Onazi should not be starting games anymore. But I am not Rohr. If Onazi must start, plsss and plsss.. never again pair him with Joel Obi unless both step things up and show their pairing can work. Bit until then, No more. It was an eyesore to behold.

Trust all is well with you.

Sir, this is utterly unnecessary! I detest reading lines or statements like this, not really good enough to be honest. Not trying to defend the coach, but when the going was good, nothing like this was uttered. sad

I thought we are all supporting this team irrespective of the flaws. We are two weeks into the tournament but you've started saying something like this. What if we excel at the world cup? You will retract your statement or what?

We should be cautious of what we say, we are always too quick to pass judgement. sad sad

**Back to reading mode**
just the conservative attitude of the coach offends me......
well your advise was reasonable will take held....

Oga, calm down.

There is no cause for alarm.

Were you expecting us to beat England at Wembley?

You think we are on the same level as Brazil, Spain or Germany? Cos it is only such countries that can get a result against England at Wembley. Brazil even played a draw there. So relax.

That England game was as tough as it can get.

Playing Croatia in Russia cannot be as difficult as playing England at Wembley. Take that from me.

And let me encourage you not to lose hope in these guys. I have seen so many Nigerian teams at the WC and I have seen so many of Nigeria's preparatory games for the WC. I know what I am talking about.

A lot of people here know me as very conservative with my expectations on our players. So when I say "I have hope on these guys" I must have seen enough to have hopes on them.

oga icon..... from what you wrote I see wisdom and reason to keep up with this team....
I sincerely believe how far we will go in the world cup largely depends on rohr first 11 selection during the world cup matches....

you saw yesterday that players like onazi shouldn't be starting super eagles matches...but all because of sentiments he will still get to start ahead of better technical players.....

Gareth Southgate said:

“In the period leading up to their goal they changed the system and it took a little while to work out how to deal with that.
“Once we did that, we managed the game pretty well but there was a six or seven-minute period where we didn’t adjust and it was decent exercise for us although we wanted it to be a little bit more comfortable.”

Our tactical switch confounded them. We need to utilise even more the power of our flexibility and unpredictability.

Guys, just lower your expectations, at least it is the only way not to get disappointed. Besides, these set of players we are criticizing may turn out to be our best players at the mundial, Babatunde comes to mind in 2014 worldcup. I could remember odewengie who happened to be our best player before 2010 worldcup turning out to flop at the mundial, while the likes of kalu uche became our important player. The coach believes in these guys I'm sure we will get to see better performance from them in subsequent matches. Let's not forget this coach saw this team through the qualification against the then best teams in afria;Algeria and Cameroon. Besides some of these players we are calling for their inclusion may turn out to be disappointment, I could remember how so many people called for the inclusion of Joseph akpala and Anthony Ujah for the 2013 fifa confederation's cup, we all saw their abysmal performance.
My only disappointment now is Aina not making the team, I would have loved Echeijelle to be dropped. Remember we do not have arrays of talents like Spain or Belgium or France, we just have to use what we have.

Odenwinge flop in 2010!? shocked shocked

Sir Fabyom... abeg don't quit the thread ooooo.... Haahahahahahahaha.... Na adrenaline rush of excitement (I wonder what mood you were in that day) make you drop that bold comment. England were always the favorites but I was convinced we would give them a good game. I predicted a 2-2 draw with a few days to the game when discussing with my buddies but alas we fell a bit short of that.

Abeg no quit the thread. lol... Just next time don't be like that fan from Ghana who once famously said...

Yes Aina is supposed to be at the World Cup and elderson deserved to be dropped.

What can he feel about the system ? This is football okay and we are talking about a below average player here or average,if he didn't choose Nigeria will he be at the England squad ?

He should fight for another day abi Na only World Cup we go use dey lure players ?

Winfred zaha would have make England World Cup squad because his form was hot and Gareth southgate persuade him but he don't trust the English people,he went ahead and play for Ivory Coast at the afcon and they even failed to qualify for the World Cup and I didn't hear him rant oo,abeg make Aina fight for another day

Iwobi wouldn't have made the three Lions team as at the time he made his debut for Nigeria because he was an academy player but yesterday he was the best rated Nigerian on the field.

Iwobi playing for the SE increased his stock.

Omeruo has improved
Ebuehi does not need to prove anything
We are no longer looking for a RB...There is Ebuehi,Aina....no need using Shehu as a makeshift...He is a DM..period...We are gradually sorting out our defence line...perhaps 90%...our LB is settled...we have different combination at CB....depending on the opposition and fitness of the defenders....In all,i think this experiment with Shehu should stop...it does not help our team build...Post- Russia...He should fight in DM..though that side is overloaded...

Super Eagles Arrive In Austria For World Cup Preparation
June 3, 2018 5:00 pm

The Super Eagles have arrived in Vienna, Austria where they will be based ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The team’s arrival was confirmed in a 44 seconds video published on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) verified Twitter handle on Sunday afternoon.

In the video, the players and officials were embarking on a luxury bus at the airport which would take them to their base in Bad Tatzmanndsdorf, about three hours away by bus.

They departed London on Sunday morning after playing a friendly against England on Saturday at Wembley Stadium which they lost 2-1.

“The Super Eagles have arrived in Vienna. They head to their Avita Resort Base camp where they will train for the next couple of days,” the NFF wrote on their handle.
On Wednesday the Super Eagles will continue their preparations for the World Cup by taking on Czech Republic in Austria.

Super Eagles’ Midfield Problems And Five Other Takeaways From Defeat To England
June 3, 2018 1:30 pm

Following the Super Eagles’ 2-1 defeat to England in Saturday’s friendly at Wembley Stadium, C ompletesportsnigeria.com ‘s JAMES AGBEREBI makes his observations from the game…

– POOR COMMUNICATION ON THE PART OF THE SUPER EAGLES PLAYERS
One very important aspect in football is communication among teammates. But against England, the Super Eagles players showed they need to learn a lot in that aspect.
On two occasions the Super Eagles players clashed heads against each other which could have been disastrous.
In the first half, Leon Balogun collided with Joel Obi in a needless head collision which could have been costly.
And in the second half, Kenneth Omeruo and Oghenekaro Etebo had a clash of heads.
This is one area the players must address before going to the World Cup because failure to do so will spell doom for the Super Eagles.

– SUPER EAGLES FAILURE TO DEAL WITH SET PIECES
It is evident the Super Eagles have not come to grips when it comes to dealing with set pieces.
Aside from Gary Cahill’s header which broke the deadlock, England went close on different occasions.
Eric Dier, Marcus Rashford and Kevin Trippier went close for England but were unlucky not to hit target.
The Super Eagles technical crew must look into this area if not it would be exploited by smart teams at the World Cup.

– POOR START BY THE SUPER EAGLES
If there is one thing the Super Eagles must look at critically, it is the issue of starting poor in games.
Their shaky start led to England taking an early lead which also led to the second goal.
Though they bounced back in the second half, they cannot afford to do that at the World Cup or else their opponents would have been out of sight by the time the Eagles wake up.

– MIDFIELD ISSUE
The Super Eagles struggled in the first half because the midfield did not click.
The midfield trio of Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi and Joel Obi could not contain the England midfield.
Due to their struggle, the forwards were starved of any meaningful supplies while the defence was under constant pressure as a result of lack of protection.
The absence of Wilfred Ndidi was felt as Onazi and Joel Obi failed to mark runners which worried the Eagles back line.
The second half response by Gernot Rohr brought sanity in the midfield which led to an improved performance.

– FRANCIS UZOHO KEEPS IMPROVING
Though he could be blamed for Harry Kane’s goal, Francis Uzoho showed he is learning fast.
He made some good saves and did well enough to come out and either catch or punch away dangerous crosses, making use of his tall frame.
The friendly game against Czech Republic on Wednesday is another opportunity for him to show he is ready for the World Cup.

– GERNOT ROHR’S RESPONSE IN DIFFICULT SITUATIONS
It was obvious the Super Eagles struggled in the first half which saw England deservedly go 2-0 up.
The likes of Shehu Abdullahi, Ogenyi Onazi, Joel Obi were poor in the first half which led to the poor first half display.
But before the start of the second half, Rohr brought in John Ogu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Tyronne Ebuehi and Kenneth Omeruo which totally changed the complexion of the game.

This is a clear indication that Rohr reads the game very well and knows when to make changes.

Ndidi should be given a good run out of at least 70-75 mins against Czech republic. He seems battle ready but Rohr was only taking it easy coz he is so important to this team's cause.

A fit Ndidi is a starter for me and Mikel should also start alongside but I don't know Rohr's mind.

If prefers Mikel as the AMF, Ndidi and Onazi are my starters but Iwobi plays the AMF role then Mikel and Ndidi will be my starters.

All depends on the formation because if we play 3 mans defence I expect Ogu should play as one of the CBs.

Good to see that Egbon is speaking my mind.. Ehen...this is Egbon speaking. cool

But Egbon ehn... Ogu at CB yesterday was because Rohr didn't wanna introduce a young Awaziem. He wanted an experienced Ogu who had more physical presence and would calm things. Ogu is a fine option at CB especially LCB but in the present of fit Omeruo, Balogun and Ekong, I don't think Ogu may start.
