kacey007: I honestly don't know about mathematics department and their funding policies. Your idea could work for you, also you might ask for admission deferral and this might make them to see you as being "not serious" and hence prompt them to take you off the pool of funding aspirants. Some schools have this "offer funding/GA after one semester mentality" The program (Computer Information systems ) i got admitted into is housed under the school of business and they do more of scholarships than funding, so I have quite a limited knowledge about how their funding works. Hopefully BigFrancis21 might come bail you out on this one. 1 Like |

Gurus should help vet this proposed transcript ; Note: no travel history, graduated 2009, not married, no kids, have 6 years work experience....5 of those as a business data analyst in a microfinance bank Where r u going? I am going to prairie view a&m university in Texas for my masters program in computer science and my concentration is computer information systems Tell me about ur study plan? My concentration is comp info systems which focuses on the use data analysis and information systems tools to improve efficiency. Ill be taking a total of 36 credit hours. Some of d core courses include; blablablabalabla just to mention a few. My elective course plan will be tailored to give me a deep insight into machine learning, artificial intelligence and improve my knowledge of electronic commerce. Ill also be exposed to software engineering and development which is a skill I need to develop. Why Comp info systems? Or what will dis program do for u? Having trained and worked in the Nigerian banking industry as a business data analyst, a masters degree in cis at this point of my career would equip me with d technical skills needed to plan and design a data analysis algorithm that will determine the eligibility of clients to access credit facilities. I will have d capacity to develop an automated system using machine learning algorithms to examine n analyse pre existing data of clients in order to generate new useful information. I will also have d required skill to design software that can determine customers preference and purchase behaviour in order to improve service delivery to clients. When I return to Nigeria after my program I will have d requisite skills n exposure to advance my career as a biznes data analyst as I'll be qualified to take up a senior data analyst role in any Nigerian organization. How many schools did u apply to? 3. Name dem? Bowie state uni, univ of Texas at dallas and prairie view a&m uni. So why prairie view? I chose prairie view because the computer information system curriculum at the department integrates data science and electronic commerce into the study plan. This will give me a well rounded experience to take up a senior data analyst role in any organization when I return to Nigeria after my program. Pvamu also has a data mining research lab and d faculty is actively conducting research activities in Big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence. These facilities will be invaluable for my study. And m in contact with Dr xxxx of d cis department about my research interests and he is willing to work with me on my proposed research topic Why r u switching fields physics to CIS? I switched fields immediately after my undergraduate study solely becos I discovered my interest n motivation lies in the field of computing and data analysis and I have made conscious effort in this regard by taking database administration courses at an IT training institute. (At dis point I intend to hand out my sql test score result) now I believe the time is right to follow up with a higher study in order to advance my career in this field. Any standardized test? Yes I wrote GRE with a score of 308 Who's sponsoring u? My sister What does ur sister do? She's into Event management and catering services for corporate organizations and individuals. 1 Like |

My first interview. *Why Business Analytics* My passion for Business Analytics was sparked up when I helplessly watched my previous company fold up due to lack of business insights and strategies. During the course of running my business, I have seen a crucial need to leverage data in making accurate decisions. In other to get my business to the summit and help other businesses in Nigeria thrive, I realized I require more education and training. Hence my resolve for business Analytics *How did you know about UTdallas* I got to know about UTdallas from topuniversities.com when searching for schools offering business Analytics *How did you know about Business Analytics* I stumbled on a journal on Big Data by Harvard Business school in Novare mall. After going through it, I realized business Analytics was exactly what I needed. *What's your company into* My company is into exterior building finishes. Cladding, glass curtain wall and structural glass work *Staff strength* 15 *Why not an MBA* An MBA is generic and covers various aspects. Business Analytics is specific and uses evidence based data for decisions. Modern tools are used to collect data and analyse them for trends to make accurate decisions. Decision is very crucial and as one who wants to set up a pioneer Business Intelligence firm in Nigeria, Business Analytics is what I really need now *You have kids* Yes I do *Will they be going with you* Yes. They are very young and require all motherly care and affection *How about your husband* He will be taking care of them while I focus on my studies *How much is your tuition* I have the Dean's excellence scholarship which reduces my tuition by 50%. So I'll be paying about $13,000 *Who will handle the rest* My Uncle who is currently the Managing Director of xyz which has about 2 oil wells in Nigeria will be taking care of all other expenses. *Can I have his statement* Yes please. He looked through statement. Uncle had over $250,000 balance from last 6months *Sorry I can't approve your visa at this time*. Please any reasons for that? He said I should look through the paper he gave me I'll understand. I looked through and it was talking about home tie. After thinking through the fact that I've had lots of career pauses due to being a nursing mother. I decided to leave my entire family behind as a tie and proceed for my masters. Interview2 6:30 Today *What University?* University of Texas at Dallas *What's your highest level of education?* Bachelors *When did you graduate?* 2012 **What have you been doing since then?* After my NYSC in 2013, I got a job with *** Bank as Management trainee. I then moved to *** (offshoot KPMG) where I got exposed to advisory services. After this I worked with *** and later resigned to set up my business which I currently manage. *What course are you going to study?* Business Analytics *What level?* Masters *What will it do for you?* Business Analytics will equip me with managerial and technical skills required to expand my business and set up one of the very first Business Intelligence consultancy firms in Nigeria that will make use of modern tools and technologies to collect data, analyze them for trends and effectively transform data into recommendations and insights that will help business stakeholders make accurate, strategic and prompt decisions that will help them increase their efficiency, improve their business processes and increase their profitability. *Who will pay?* I have the Dean's excellence scholarship which reduces my tuition by 50%. My Uncle will take care of the others *What does he do?* He is the Managing Director of *** which has about 2 oil wells in Nigeria. *Why are you spending so much on a masters since you have a business?* There is never too much to invest in getting educated. This program will help me get my business to the summit. Having watched my previous company fold up due to lack of insights and strategies, I know I need more education and training since I'm from a science background. Working with *** advisory services, I realized lots of businesses needed advice on how to move their business forward. Business Analytics is an emerging field in Nigeria, so my firm will be one of the pioneer Business intelligence consultancy firms in Nigeria. With Business Analytics I'll be able to actualize both passion. *Are you married?* Yes I am *Any kids?* 3 I'm sorry I can't approve your visa. ****They won't be accompanying me and I've made a list of my ties. Her response was, I've made my decision.... 1 Like 1 Share |

My question is this- is it possible to book my Visa appointment without paying for my SEVIS Fee, because SEVIS fee payment might delay a little. I will appreciate your replies from anyone with experience. @Winterstorm- I will appreciate your input. Thanks. |

VO: What are you going to study in Us? Me: Am going for an Associate degree in Culinary Arts VO: How many schools did you apply to,why did you pick this school and how did you hear about the school. Me: I applied to 3schools,Culinary institute of Anerica,Kendall College and stratford uni,i heard of this school when i went fot Gtb food festival in May 2018 and Senior Chefs from this school spoke with us,since it is what i have passion and i had interest in learning more after my youth service i decided to apply. And the reasom why i picked Kendall is because CIA and startford resumed May and i couldnt meet up with the admission because of my Mandatory youth service, since i was opportuned to have an online tour, the only difference between this schools in their Location, and i spoke with some of the Alumni via social Media. VO: I can sew you have a Bachelors why this Course Me: I had a bachelors in Masscommunication and my background in this course is very important since i intend having a food show in my Country so its would help me with the Audio Visuals and also help in branding my product to my Consumers. Vo: Who is Sponsoring ? Me" My Uncle,he is a producer for Mnet Nigeria, and he would be the one to help produce my food show and link me up with more T.V channels Or should i say He has been the one taking care of me and my sis since i lost my father enemy. VO: Incase am asked why USA? ME: The major reason why am going to USA is because the course is not taken as a degree in my country but as a diploma it takes just 3months but over there its about 2years and that would help in been the best at what you do. I I have a catering business here,is it advisable i go with my complimentary card as a proof,i stand to be corrected and i hope to be back here June 12 to give my testimony and i have been praying as well. |

Im a VO and i am thinking, you have your personal business and you say 15 persons work under you, but you still rely on your rich uncle to sponsor 50% percent of your tuition fee not a single penny from you even when you own a business to support your academics. how is that so? or does your uncle also pay your workers? The Vo even asked *Why are you spending so much on a masters since you have a business?* that statement should mean something to you Auspicious2018: 8 Likes 3 Shares |

On your second response to that answer you said your uncle would be covering the 50%. Off course owing a business does not stop you from having a masters degree. I mean why asking that question he gave you a hint as its regards no financial support coming from your own business to your masters program.

|
