After putting my brand new dell laptop in sleep mode, on pressing the power button, it refused to come back on. I have even removed and put back the battery all to no avail what should i do and what is the cause.

Remove ba3 and hold down power button for like 20sec, this will allow the laptop to discharge the current in it. Then connect your charge and power on first before u connect your battery.

Let's see where the problem is from.

Power on the laptop and press your caplock button, does the light turn on and off when u press it?

A dead RTC ba3(cmos) can make the mobo dead, so the engineer will remove that first and test before any other troubleshooting.


I don't know if it's the weather condition or it's the quality of laptop sellers always import into the country.

Hibernating or putting your laptop in sleep mode can kill the motherboard, some are lucky and have been doing it without any problem while some will do it and viola, mobo is dead.

Hello, av been unable to connect my phone to my laptop as a portable device thru the mtp recently, thought it was because dr was no sdcard in my phone buh its d same wit all oda phones av bn trying wit it, though i was able to connect a small tecno n d storages wr shown. Av tried uninstalling d drivers, still no luck, even disabled d drivers signature enforcement because i saw under the driver details for mtp usb device dt winusb.sys is not signed, also copied d file from a working machine buh nothing.......... Av also tried third-party apps

I have found one with an AMD processor(wouldn't advise it).

2 others are Intel but after rigorous tests, they each stopped displaying (VGA... does that ring a bell )

I'm likely not to find another one anytime soon.

Nonetheless after getting another board, whatever it is that happened to this one will happen again to that one!! Maybe after a 9months to a year of usage...

Board is priced arround NGN 18K there about. Let's be patient... NGN 18k is a lot of money given that you're gonna be spending it on one part that'll eventually fail...

If you do not find anything good... Ditch this laptop and get another one... Afterall you're only gonna be adding about 20k to get a good Dual Core or 30k to get a nice i3.

It's your card, just play it well

Like it will booth to launch repair or continue with bla bla bla like that and after hiting the enter key it will will show windows logo like it will booth to desktop but it will go off and restart. What is the model of your laptop?
Anyway, from your explanation, you need to reinstall the operating system.

If after reloading the operating system and you still experience that, then fault is from motherboard.

What laptop brand should i buy between hp and dell. I used a hp before but i am leaning towards using a dell now mostly because of its durability and speaker quality. What do u guys suggest?

Naa, if you format it, all your files will go away, reloading it will keep your files in Windows.old, where you can retrieve it back after reinstalling the windows.
