my note 4x just became a real mess after the 9.5.9 update.
even with miui optimisation turned off, it can hardly hold two apps comfortably in memory.

No be only you.. Even phone app to open na war... You would see keypad buh no recent contacts, if you slide to contacts, you would wait for 30secs before your saved contact show.

Abi na WhatsApp, that would first show black screen or white screen before it opens properly....

You're probably on the nightly rom that can't receive updates except you download manually and flash
