MANCHESTER UNITED have announced they have reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Brazil international Fred.

A statement on United's website read: :"Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos (Fred).

"A further announcement will be made in due course."
The deal is believed to be worth £52m, which will make Fred United's fifth most expensive signing ever.
Only Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Angel Di MAria and Anthony Martial have cost the club more in their history.
But Jose Mourinho was determined to add quality in midfield and has acted quickly with a switch set to be completed before the World Cup gets underway.
Fred has made the Brazil squad for the tournament in Russia, which gets underway on June 14.
