I av been in contact with my course advisor and she has advised me to take bla ....bla courses .

why do you want to study this course?

I have a National Diploma degree in computer science with this background this course is going to enhance my knowledge more and Nigeria is transferring her business processes from manual to automated so acquiring technical skills will make me remain relevant in the Nigerian business world. I hope to build modules and software's that will restructure the Nigeria business world.I hope to have an IT company in the southwestern  of Nigeria just like Adela did here in Lagos. .i know this program will help increase my  knowledge and give me the ability to design, implement and improve software solutions across Nigeria

Where are you going to in the US

I'm going to California State University Bakersfield, for my undergraduate degree in computer science

Why this university?

I choose CSUB because of the amount of quality research going on there in the field of Computer Science. I came to know that my research interest matches with the faculty there also as student I will be assigned a professor as my mentor and i had email correspondence with  Professor Albert Cruz  in which we had similar research interests and I wish to join his research group ..he also he made me to know that i wouldn’t have issues settling in the new environment besides at CSU Bakersfield, I wouldn’t just another face in the crowd. I will work closely with highly qualified and experienced professors in modern classroom and laboratory settings.

Why do you wish to study in the US ?

Ans. United State schools are way ahead in research in fields like Computer science. when compared to other countries of the world. Moreover, they stress on practical knowledge & not just book learning. A degree from united state  is globally recognized as the academic standards are very high. Nigeria Universities do not have enough facilities to support students in their research, whereas US Universities have sound infrastructure to support students to gain both the theoretical as well as practical knowledge.Hence a degree on here does not really help in fulfilling the career goals of a person like me

What are the courses offered ? or What type of courses are there ?

Ans. There are a variety of courses offered at California State University such as Data Management,  Java , c++ ,information technology, software management, Application package , introduction to computer science...e.t.c

How  many schools did you apply to

3  schools

CSUB ,TROY university Alabama,Wichita state university

O; how did you hear about this school

ME : i discovered this school by extensive online research via google.com and academic search engines such as usnews.com internationalstudent.com, and i narrow my research to the school that has my research interest.

Vo: whos paying

Me: My Mom. She an Real Estate Agent she sells and buy landed property.

what area will you specialize in

Me: Software development . This is because of the low rate of software development here in Nigeria. Actually that gap need to be close.

When did you finish high school?

ME: 2012

VO: What have you been doing since?

ME: I first went to obtain my National diploma degree in computer science at Yaba college of technology

VO: what course your ND IN and what year did you finish?

ME: In Computer science and finished in 2017

VO: Have you traveled out before

ME: I havent had any reason to until now.

I need more review please , thanks

For, why this school question?
I'm sorry your answer might not be believable cause research activities are mostly for graduate and not undergraduate students.

In plain Nigerian English
"Nothing consign undergraduate with research"

Just my opinion though, I might be wrong

She was dishing out blue paper like mad
I think the lady that attended to me is just a sadist

Me: Which i did
: V.o: what will the program do for you ?
Me: It will equip me with the knowledge to practice more competently and professionally as a community pharmacist and will aslo give me the leverage to partner with ngos of federal ministry of health in a bid to reduce disease burden when i come back to nigeria
V.o: whats your highest qualification ?
Me: B. Pharm degree
: V.o What do u mean by b.pharm, ?
Me: bachelor of pharmacy
: V.o When did u graduate ?
Me: Didnt hear her well, so i said xxxx university.

V.o: How many uni did u apply to ?
: Me: I applied to 4 uni
: V.o so why this particular one ?
Me: Apart from the fact that west chester uni has an mph programme that is ceph accredited, i wanted to say what ceph means so she cut me short, and said i should continue, i'm more intrested in its well established mph multidisciplinary curriculum that focus on problem solving researches and professional development, additionally i will, then she cut me short
: V.o: we have lots of people today, so dont mind me cutting u
: Me: I smiled
: V.o: who pays for the trip

: V.o : what does he do ?
: Me: He is a civil engineer and he is the ceo of olubi construction company in osogbo, he majors in properties and infrastructural development and also invest in real estate

V.o: She then meticulously flipped through the account statement page by page for about 2 minutes
Me: V.o She then asked what is the name of your dad
: Me: Bleep xxxxxx xxxxxxx

She then paid attention to the cover letter and then checked the front page of the statement of account again, but i doubt if she checked the balance well

She then returned the soa copy to me
V.o : So tell me the duration of the program, the courses u will take
Me: It is a 45 credit unit course, i will be taking 24unit core courses and 21 units in my major, Some of the courses include biostatistics, epidemiology, general environmental health, social and behavioural science and there will be a compulsory 300hours applied learnig experince at a community site, this practical exposure will make me a better health education resource when i come back to nigeria.
V.o: She then typed for more than 3minutes which she never did for other applicants
And then gave me a blue paper, what are my errors ?

How was on the bank statement and how much was written on your i20 as total?

An extract from a proposed transcript for your kind consideration and constructive faulting.

VO- Why Bleep University?
Me- "Apart from the fact that I was impressed by the level of responsiveness of bleep Uni grad admission with consequently led to early admission decisions", bleep also houses 3 National Research Centre of Excellence.( names them)
I intend to take advantage of this facilities to carry out research peculiar to my concentration. Furthermore more, my prog duration is "20 months at Bleep which I consider ideal as i would be able to bag this degree within the shortest possible time frame."

I'm having a feeling the quoted isn't a good point enough. Kindly advise accordingly. Thanks!

Congratulations to u.
The fixed deposit certificate you used, the expiry date or the date the funds will be liquidated officially back to the domiciled account ,is it before your school resumption date or after it?

I used Treasury Bills and not Fixed deposit ! However , both are acceptable. Its doesn't matter the time the Money will mature .As Long as you have Money there its okay ! Fixed Deposit/Treasury Bills can be withdrawn at any time . But you won't collect the agreed amount ( Faced Value) . The interest will stop at the particular date you stopped !

Good day everyone.
I have learnt a thing or two here and I think it’s best I give back.

My visa interview on 22nd May went thus:

VO: Why are you going to The University of Texas Arlington?
Me: To pursue my MS in Materials Science and Engineering

VO: How did you get to know UTA?
Me: A combination of advice from EducationUSA Advisers and my interest in Materials for Solar energy research informed my choice

VO: Did you apply to other schools?
Me: Yes I did - Stevens Institute of Technology and University of North Texas

VO: So why did you pick UTA over the others?
Me: My correspondence with the Graduate Advisor at UTA convinced me that the Materials Science and Engineering program at UTA matched my proposed research focus best

VO: When did you get your Bachelors?
Me: 2015

VO: What did you do afterwards?
Me: Went for my NYSC which concluded in October 2016

VO: Where did this take place?
Me: Told her

VO: What were your duties and responsibilities?
Me: I taught Physics and Further Mathematics to secondary school students

VO: Who will be funding your studies?
Me: My Dad will

VO: What does he do?
Me: Told her

VO: Do you know anyone in the US?
Me: Yes, my Uncle and Sister

VO: What is your sister’s major?
Me: Told her

VO: Your visa has been approved, be sure to keep your I-20 well because it’s very important. You will be contacted via text and email as soon as your passport is ready for pickup.

For some context:
UG GPA: 3.51/4.00 (Major: Materials Science and Engineering)
GRE: 315 - Q160 V155 AW3.0
TOEFL: 105 - R26 L28 S26 W25

We never know what works unless we try.

I believe in God; He was and still is very important in all this.

Thanks to everyone who makes out time to offer their opinion and advice here.
Cheers!

You're correct!
However, the MS Finance for UW-Madison is meant for their undergraduates. International students cannot apply.

Oh, I see. But I doubt the fact that international students cannot apply [of course, I could be wrong.]. While it's true that it's not a stand-alone MSc, prospective international undergrad students can still apply. There are no programs in UW-Madison that a certain category of students cannot apply to.
