I have an issue thats not related to this thread so I'll apologise for derailing in advance. I no know where else to get quality advice.

I have been with coy X for roughly 3 years, been stagnant with no growth. Few days ago, I received a call from someone, asking if I'll be interested in joining coy Y. I replied in the affirmative. Everything happened so fast and there's an offer on the table that's increasing my current salary by 176% and with a clear chance for career growth.

I have made my intention to resign known to coy X and they are offering to increase current salary by 136% and are virtually pleading I stay, promising growth and all that. Told them to give me sometime to think about it.

Me I need money badly and at the same time, still don't want to leave coy X on a bad note.

My people, wetin una go advice make I do.

Leave X and go to Y.

Because X never appreciated you till you wanted to leave for Y. Now they are now doing the right thing they should have done in terms of recognition, career and job satisfaction. It is belated in my view.

Go to Y, they will appreciate you better.

Company X is reacting to your intention to leave, not because it really appreciates you. Company Y has given you the offer because it appreciates you. Based on the principle of working for a company that appreciates you, I suggest you move on POLITELY. Be sure to do a double check on company Y by finding out from its employees about its standard and employee satisfaction. In truth there might not be much difference as most organisations are exploitative. It is said that moving increases your network and consequently your NETWORTH. ...debatable though. Enjoy...

That said how does the present plans to privatise Affam Power station affect the status of Transcorp. Seeing so much bid this morning....

Bro, You don,t have to look back. The risk is higher now with your current company. They may ask somebody to understudy you and sack you thereafter this opportunity might have gone, that may leave you at serious risk. More so once you say good bye learn not to say otherwise to employer. They are after their work not about you.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by rebekah2011(m): 11:28am On Jun 08, 2018
You have been well advised. Please move on and never feel bad that you are leaving them. They did not send you to school and therefore you cannot forever be emotionally attached to them. Same with the tips we do get here on stock picks. Emotions, dreams, promises, etc. Na now now matter ooooo. Good success in your new place of work.

Theres a high chance that company X' proposal to Increase ur remuneration by 136% may not be sustainable.
...and the reason is not far fatched;
It might be a ploy to get u to stay back.

That said, there should always be the 'love factor' that should be properly harnessed in matters like this.
Yes the salary package is important for financial growth, but ur person in view of a given job must also be considered.
...its very important to weigh between both coys to see which one of them offers u the joy of doing what u love to do.
U must ensure u strike a proper balance between the 2 factors.

U already said u've virtually had a stagnant growth with coy X, so its only normal that there'll be that tendency for u to want to leave for coy Y. ...but u need to weigh things properly so u don't make a mistake.

Let me give u a hint;

Coy X has offered an increment of 136%. ...now u've been with this coy, so u should have grounded knowledge of it, unlike coy Y.
1st run a check on coy X and find out the real reasons/interest behind the said increase, and if it can be sustained.
If there's a real prospect of growth going forward, and u love what u do there (believe me, this is very important), then stick with them.
But if after running the said check and putting urself thru proper scrutiny, u are still not convinced of sustainability and/or u do not love the job with coy X, then do not hesitate to accept the offer from coy Y. (if it fulfils the 2 factors)

My advise: Take ur time to weigh this 2 factors before taking a final decision. ...u need to scrutinize urself thoroughly so u don't make a mistake.

I wish u well with whichever pick u eventually decide on.

Regards.

Coy X increasing your salary by 136% with lack of growth for 3 years ?
Who is that manager?
Please do them a favor and leave.
This is how they’ll mismanage a company so tey one day we will not see them on NSE again.
This is not the time to increase salary, they should accept any resignations and look for people that will replace those that are leaving..
How many salary will they increase? Now this is one of the reason they are stagnant.
Increase in salary is one thing, Continuity is another. Can they keep up ?
Please Please just leave that company they don’t know what they are doing.

Company management believe that there is no work and so they are doing you a favour keeping you. They will threaten you that if you leave, that there are more people that will occupy your position. Based on this, you can't even ask for a pay raise. They will not even do well to increase remuneration because they see themselves as having helped you already.

If rationalmind leaves X, he is meeting new people. All those task he has been doing in X which they see as "nothing special", will be a " wow" in Y.

Don't be surprised that X may have stopped training him since there is no career growth. But Y will need to train him in other areas which he is lacking.

If it’s you, then I guess X was just using you till you told them you want to resign that they now think it’s necessary to increase your salary.
Not by 50% but by 136% so they knew your worth all these while ?

Dump them

Well said my dear !!

There are always 2 sides to a coin.

For now both companies are an option, but the best pick amongst the 2 would depend largely on how well he can weigh things up.
