onegentleguy: Bro. He has already answered some of the decision you are postulating. He committed the first error in declaring to Coy X on why he is moving to Coy Y, ( no management would view that lightly). Obviously his service is needed they made a counter offer. ( what is behind that only God have all the answers) but it could not be too well. You forced your employer to increase your pay by threat of leaving. I am even tire self. No reason to look back. How many employee do that and survive the board room? Plz move on. |

wanaj0: These are very thoughtful considerations! However, it's a bit too late in his case. He should have thrown this question to the forum before telling Company X that he's leaving. Like others have said, the moment you tell a company that you're leaving, you just have to follow it through. Things will not be the same for you there again. I suppose he has already assessed the two companies in terms of their stability and sustainability of their offers. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by sellydion: 3:30pm On Jun 08, 2018 |
wanaj0: I think the matter has left that stage. He has tendered resignation, based on that they make a counter offer. Medicine after death. He is not asking us how to resign. I think the cruise is can I go back to Coy X? I am saying you have moved, don't look back, look forward.I know how some people use to take leave to evaluate an offering company before movement this is not the case. |

musty00: The point is before applying to company Y, I am sure he must have weighed all these factors. He was only bothered about loyalty. Employers are not loyal o, why should I be? |

Mcy56: The truth is this: if you are not happy on your current job, you will never give in your best performance. The best thing is just leave the company and try out new things. There will be 6 months period for the new company to monitor your performance and accept you or reject you. But if you know what you are doing, you will scale through this period. There is nothing worse than a dissatisfied staff. He can never give his best for company X. If someone wants to burn the company sef, he will not even intervene. Reason is because he is not happy. 3 Likes |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 3:53pm On Jun 08, 2018 |
wanaj0: Sir, the dude is not happy working in company X. Hence he is dissatisfied. So you will not expect him to put his best in the company. Company X HR should have noticed this long ago and appease via recognition, career advancement. But they never did. I will advise he moves to a company where he sees joy while he works. There is nothing invigorating as working with happiness. See what oil guys do when they get bad appraisal. Asset managers will go and do the work for that period till they talk to the affected staff to mellow. Sometimes asset managers show the affected staff their own bad appraisal results so that they (affected) will know that so the asset managers also suffer. They will leave the platform to burn. What will you do? Is it not to report to HR? What else? Sack? Union comes in and deliberate with management or find another job for him. So bros, if he is dissatisfied and he has an offer to fill in, it is better he leaves. |

onegentleguy: For the years he had no career growth, he has been thinking and he must have applied for this job because he is dissatisfied with Company X. |

wanaj0: So you advise someone who is unhappy at work to stay back at work? |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 4:07pm On Jun 08, 2018 |
sellydion: Depending on the company. A multinational will never sack you because you intend to leave the company or make your intentions known. Your hierarchy will only talk to you and start to be your friend when they get your resignation letter. If it is a 1-man company or local company, they can even sack you immediately. |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 4:16pm On Jun 08, 2018 |
Agbalowomeri: He was not happy working in company X knowing that he had stagnant career growth. And that was why her applied to company Y. He made this decision because he has assessed both companies. Pray not to work with a dissatisfied worker. We have lots of them. You will tell them to do this and they will not do it. They don't hide the fact that they don't do it. You will report them and they will ask if it was the MD you told. Whereas na ordinary Manager you report to. He will tell you to go and tell the MD. All you just need to do is to encourage such workers in the little way you can and don't dare their actions especially those in multinationals. But if you come out openly to query them, they will even tell the manger that he is waiting for the query. People go tire na. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 4:21pm On Jun 08, 2018 |
sellydion: In multinationals, there are" no fighting" rule. If not fit this rule, you go dey see people beat up their hierarchies. I have heard when someone bwas challenging his GM and asking him: what will you do? Is it query? Send it and I will answer it. Isn't it low appraisal that you will give me( he asked the GM)? Is there any other thing(he asked the GM)? You will be tired. Once you start to query someone who doesn't fear sack, watch it. It could bounce back at you as harassment/bully and this will be taken up against you. |

locodemy: Chief Loco, the market is unpredictable but one thing is certain that 'history always repeat itself' according to some historical occurrence in world stock market, especially our dear NSE. At least 95% of the forum members are here to make money, but before you starting thinking of making money...you have to do your home work very well and built a missile defense for your capital. The rule is simple: Dont loose your capital while preserving your profit. Don't let emotion override your reasoning of action. That's dont be emotionally attached to any stocks Watch out for economic and political uncertainties in terms of market policy Take your time to read some books and go outside of your comfort zone to acquire knowledge Watch out for any red flag or check if the numbers are adding up or not Don't let anyone sweet mouth you on some imaginary news or history Always take a closer look at your investment, etc. I believe some Ogas' will surely add more to the point stated above.... In all, the rule of making money is to preserve your capital against any attacks...All the best sir and you're already forewarned and don't be a victim of a story that touch! All the best! #EverythingShallEndWell #PreserveYourCapital #FollowYourHeart #MattressGang #ItIsWell 4 Likes 3 Shares |

RabbiDoracle: I don't want to derail this thread BUT 1) He was not happy because of the remuneration (stagnation, growth etc). It does not mean he is not enjoying the job, happy with his colleague etc. Reason why I said he has not provided enough information about the two companies. Moreoever Company Y is a prommisory note. Any idea of the history of COMPANY Y in fulfilling its promise? That's why MORE information is required. 2) He has not stated anything that make Company Y better apart from offer of 'better' pay! Is pay the only consideration? Are there welfare packages that can act as a differentiator? Medicals for example? Is there a difference between the amount that the two companies contribute to the pension fund? Apart from take home pay what are the other value proposition? What will make him happy in Company Y apart from the pay. The euphoria of increase pay will wear off within 6months! I would rather work with accenture at a 'lower' pay just because the name of 'accenture' on a CV will open doors at the RIGHT time. 3) If he is unhappy in Company X he should indeed seek to move BUT we don't have enough information to conclude that Company Y is the place to go! It may be Company Z! Not all offers are to be accepted. Who is making the offer is key. Right now we know nothing about Companies X and Y to reach a good conclusion. 4) For those saying it is LATE, it is all about COMPANY X and the type of relationship that exists between the staff and the company! Resignation letters can be REJECTED. Resignation letters can be delayed. I know those that resigned and the boss asked the staff to apply for leave, resume at the new place and see whether it meets his expectations. So until we know what Company X and Company Y looks like we cannot conclude. Again, I am not for or against any decision. Right now there is not enough information to provide quality advice. We will be making TOO many assumptions which may make our conclusion to be faulty. With MORE information, he will be properly guided. 2 Likes |
