I don’t want to keep dragging this car issue. To each their own. The amusing thing is that it’s even the least of my monthly outgoings. I pay much more on my mortgage and childcare than the “chicken change” that goes towards the car. I work too hard and I earn too well to be driving a tokunbo.

Again I stress on affordability. If one can afford it, there’s absolutely nothing wrong in driving a brand new car every three years.

Buying a new car is quite a popular choice for many (both migrants and non-migrants), so I am surprised someone is taking offence with my suggestion.

Honestly, if you can afford it go for brand new. Do your search. It is not as expensive as people tend to perceive. Some manufacturers offer 0% interest and even pay a contribution towards the deposit.

With a new car, you pay no road tax for the first year, no MOT payments for three years, some manufacturers even throw in free annual motor servicing.

We are moving down south in a few months!! So scared and excited! I love this place but we have to go with the cheese.I hear things are more expensive especially in the KSS area but we will be fine..fingers crossed.

Still haven't bought the house because of this move.The houses i'm seeing around the area are from 5-6 huns for 4 bed I pity myself.

Have learnt from old mistakes,have very good credit history,using the credit card for payments and always pay back etc etc.

Since it's a new area we've never been to,we plan to rent first and then buy in 3-6 months.

Don't be angry bro...our mileage varies. It will be foolish to compare brand new car to fairly used. If I am a permie I will be driving a brand new SQ7 but I hate the fact I have to budget for financing a car during bench time...this is why I prefer to get a fairly used car. Mind you some fairly used cars are more expensive and durable than brand news, its all relative.

But to advise you guys who want to buy a very cheap car, if you have been stranded on a b-road on a cold night where AA takes 5 hrs to reach, you will think twice, most especially with kids.

You only live once...enjoy life!

Your date stamped arrival on your passport, must be under one year and you must also inform your insurance company....

Assuming you get stopped and required to produce, you would be required to submit your passport and intl DL together......

Some crafty dealers and private sellers would not tell you about the insurance history, till you attempt to make an insurance claim and your insurance company refuses to payout......

From my deductions so far, getting a mortgage is always the sure fire. It never goes out of style. Albeit, getting a car also is important. As long as you can afford to maintain it, then you should be in the clear.

If you have the bar , by all means, get you a car your spirit will be happy driving but I don't think people actually get bothered with what kinda car you're driving here (I may be wrong).

Indeed the only person that cares about what you drive, is YOU & YOUR pocket.........

You could be driving a 2018 vehicle, while your Boss is driving a 2008 vehicle (he that wears the shoes......)

A banger or tear rubber, you are not meant to exceed 70MPH on the motorway and as low as 20MPH in certain places (average speed camera would clock you + fine + points imposed)......
