opejulie10: Children above 12months can be started on full cream milk. You can introduce gradually by buying the small satchets if fear is gripping you. Watch for any reactions of which I doubt there will be any. If none, you can go ahead and buy a full tin. |

helovesme:I don't know how anyone has the patience for these kind of investments. I find the interest rate to this FGN Savings Bond to be ridiculously low. 13% per annum. Rich men might stash away money for their children this way, but if you're middle class and lets say you have a million naira to spare and you invest that in FGNSB for your child, at the end of the year your baby would have made only additional N130, 000.00.Since it has a 2-3 year maturity rate, at the end of two-three years he'd have made N1, 260,000.00-N1, 390,000.00. Either way adunbulivit. I don't have that kinda patience biko. Agreed, its extremely low risk but my Anambra husband would tell you to give him the money let him double it in six months rather that FGN's 8 years. Anyway my opinion is if the sum you have to invest is not something that can reasonably help the life of the child if anything happens to you, then I'd rather invest it in hustling while there is life. Either that or I'd make riskier investments that are more profit yielding. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Giddyperson:Nwanyi Abacus funds (investment one product) and gtb sks account is what I use for all my GC's. Start an Abacus fund with any amount and reinvest the interest. Transfer a fixed amount each month (their birth date preferably) to their SkS account, then move it every quarter to the Abacus account. No withdrawal on any. Just keep topping up with even as low as 5K monthly. It will come in very handy to pay school fees or Uni fees in US one day. Definitely better than "hustling with the money", Imo. Ps: mutual funds is good too. I'm just skeptical about FG bonds for now, but that's just me. 3 Likes 8 Shares |

Further to our discussion, we are pleased to introduce our unique wealth management solution that can be accessed by investing via our “Unit Trusts/Mutual Funds” - please see the mail trail for the mutual fund(s) we recommend along with helpful supporting documents in attachment. By definition a mutual fund is an investment product offered by a company that pools money from various stakeholders who participate typically in investment securities (such as stocks, bonds, short-term money market instruments etc. Investors who buy into a Mutual Fund own a portion (units) of the fund, based on the amount they invested - similar to the way a co-operative scheme or the local thrift club, also known as Esusu, Adashe or Ajo system is operated. Mutual Funds are managed by an investment manager who buys and sells investment securities in order to grow the fund. Mutual funds are open-ended funds, i.e. you can invest in a Mutual Fund at any time and exit whenever you want. Investors make returns based on the overall performance and growth of the fund - some mutual funds also distribute dividends periodically. We like to also introduce the Stanbic IBTC Money Market Fund (SIMM) SIMM caters for investors with low risk appetite who don’t want exposure to the capital market but require the liquidity and competitive returns available in fixed income markets. SIMM invests 100% of its asset in quality money market instruments including Treasury Bills, Commercial Papers, Bankers’ Acceptances and Fixed Deposits with banks that are rated not less than “A”. Its primary objective is to achieve attractive returns of current income that is consistent with capital preservation by pooling funds for a stronger bargaining power in low-risk short-term securities whilst offering security, diversification and liquidity. The Fund was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Nigeria in 2010. It has been assigned an “Aa(f)” rating by Agusto & Co. for 4 consecutive years – the highest rating yet conferred on a fund managed in Nigeria by this SEC registered local rating agency. Giddyperson, some of us are very low risk investors so for the sake of our blood pressure let the money be growing jelenkely. There are higher risk mutual fund options that invest in stock and bonds with much higher returns but your capital isn't guaranteed. The money market guarantees your capital no matter what I'm with ifyalways wrt not doing business with the Nigerian government, I can't fit to shout biko Also bloomingbud and co, I use stanbic, I'm aware that ARM and GTBank(Investment One? can't remember what it's called) also have investment banking subsidiaries. You don't have to do stanbic if you don't want to. Do your research very well. I'm not a proponent of bank accounts for kids because they will remove all your money in the name of charges |

mummyjayson: Invest in plenty bibs. The more absorbent the better. You May also want to get the type that has a cotton outter with a "waterproof" backing liner. This way it reduces the rate at which the wetness gets absorbed into his clothes. Change frequently. 2 Likes |
