You guys make me laugh. You compare a human rights activist like Fela with a freedom fighter like Ojukwu who fought the military might of Nigeria for 3 years?
Fela who probably never held a gun in his life or heard the sound of mortar and bombs falling?

I think that the Yoruba idea of a brave man is rather low

What has become of ojukwu's adventure & what did the armoury of the freedom fighter bring upon his people if not death & destruction.

Over 50yrs on, you lot are still playing catch-up. cool

Joe Igbokwe says it raw!

"Did the Yoruba go to war when June 12 1993 Presidential Election won by their illustrious son Chief MKO Abiola was annulled on June 23rd 1993 on a sheet of paper by IBB?

Did Yoruba go to war when Abiola’s wife Alhaja Kudirat Abiola was murdered in Lagos in the morning of Jun 4 1996?

Did Yoruba go to war when the winner of that historic election was poisoned on July 7 1998?

Did Yoruba go to war when those who killed Abiola imposed Obasanjo on them as President in 1999?

Did Yoruba accept Chief Ernest Shonekan when IBB made him to head the interim government in 1993? Yoruba rejected OBJ and Shonekan because this unique race has never been slaves to public office and yet they have remained number one in Nigeria in almost everything. This is wisdom and strategic thinking at work.

Those of us who have lived in Yoruba land for years should not only learn how to wear Aso Ebi, eat Ewedu soup or dance Owambe, music.

We must have also learned other unique things from them like sharing property to both male and female children, religious tolerance, ethnic tolerance, transferring legacies from generation to generation. Do you know that APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s wife is a Christian? Do you know that former Governor Fashola’s wife is a Christian? We can learn a lot from Yoruba. Yoruba too can learn from Igbo in areas of thinking home, business enterprise, self-help, apprenticeship, etc.

A Yoruba woman, a Pastor Mrs. Eunice Olawale Elisha of the Redeemed Christian Church of God old NEPA Road Phase 4 Kubwa, Abuja was killed by unknown persons on Saturday morning of July 9, 2016, while preaching the gospel around 5.30am. I have followed the reactions on the internety and Yoruba do not behave like the Igbo. They have been speaking but not preaching hate. They have called for the culprits to be fished out, prosecuted and punished. If Mrs. Eunice Elisha had been an Igbo hell would have been let loose. There would have been abuses and abuses. But Yoruba are not Igbo. This is civilization. This is strategic thinking. I hope our people can learn from this. Civility is not a sign of weakness. He who fights and run away lives to fight another day.

When GEJ marginalized Yoruba in his cabinet for five years despite been the most vocal in an effort to make him president, Yorubas didn't threaten anybody, they didn't abuse anybody, they simply fought in a peaceful & civilized way to effect a change in 2015 using their PVC. Today the most active VP since the independence & most likely, the next president of Nigeria is Yoruba. Fashola heads 3 ministries & referred to as prime minister in some parlance, Kemi Adeosun heads finance, Fayemi heads mines etc. That's how to fight for relevance in multi faceted country like Nigeria & not taking up arm against everybody.

To have ears is not to listen, to listen is not to hear, to hear is not to understand, to understand is not to put to practice. I know that writing this may not get me many friends among the Igbo, but it always gets me the right ones"

For the fact that u are a lady I have to tone it down a tad.. Now have it in ur mind that we live, eat and drink from the ocean of tribalism in this country.. The igbos, yorubas and hausas , including other minority tribes are guilty of tribalism.. The fact of the matter is, we pretend all is well while we have serious issues underneath our minds..

Talking about land, Yoruba people own houses in igbo land of course. I have seen two Yoruba people in enugu state, so u shouldn't worry about anyone taking ur property from you unlike those criminal landlords in Lagos state known for selling one plot of land to different people.

That is why Igbos and Yorubas are not the same people. Yorubas are looking at it that Ojukwu attemped and failed. Igbos look at the attempt more than they look at the failure. For the Igbos, it is far better to attempt and fail than to be a coward and not have the spine to attempt at all.

So called Igbo presidency are trumpeted by self serving Igbos who want to enrich themselves, an average Igbo man only wants a working nation reason they want to have their own country and see what they can do for themselves, ask yourself what has a Yoruba presidency done for you? northerners that has been in power for many long years how are they faring? these are things you should deeply reflect about that's if you choose to be wise.

YungMillionaire:
Let me start by saying apart from my tribe (Itshekiri) my two favorite tribes are Yorubas and Igbos. So, believe me when I say I have NOTHING against Igbos. But Ndigbo needs some serious soul searching.

My last visit to SA before my current assignment, I was shocked by an encounter. I was talking to some locals (who are fellow colleagues) in the heart of Johannesburg. And when my friend introduced me as his favorite Nigerian, one of them said "...I hope you are not Igbo...because all they do here is push drugs." Boy, that encounter shook me to my marrows. These guys are not your typical xenophobic SAns. These are liberal minded Nigeria loving SAners but even for them, the reputation of Igbos as drug dealers in SA is something they could not overlook.

I am not really interested in this Joe Igbokwe issue. My own concern is this: What is Ndigbo doing about this drug smuggling scourge? Other Africans (and some Asians) are now differentiating Igbos from other Nigerians because of this illicit act.

In addition to the above, I noticed that many of the Igbos pushing for Igbo presidency 2023 on NL are also the most anti-Yorubas. So I ask you a very simple question: how do you intend to get an Igbo president without the support of Yorubas? This is a serious question. Because even I look forward to an Igbo president. However, its seems impossible if you burn the SW cultural bridge. Even GEJ ONLY became president because Yorubas fought hard for him. So, what is really the rational of these anti-Yoruba fervor?

Thats how u yorubas disguise to claim u from another tribe lolz.
Its funny how u people talk about Igbo's doing drugs. But won't talk about the Yorubas doing Internet fraud
And Hausas who has put Nigeria into he book of terrorist countries worldwide
Keep lying to urself

lipsrsealed Joe Igbokwe has a point. I actually admire (note I did not say 'like', I 'admire' them) Yorubas. They are very intelligent and strategic. Their culture is far more flexible and resilient than any in the country. And, I see nothing wrong in emulating what is good about them and discarding the rubbish part. I believe if Igbos can unite and be as strategic, we will dominate EVERY SINGLE SECTOR in this country. This is our achilles heels. The greater Igbo nation has two major goals to achieve before the actualization of Biafra:

1. Elect an Igbo President in 2023

2. Work with the greater South to Restructure Nigeria.

After this, the actualization of Biafra will be a walk in the park.

NB: I have also noticed that some Igbo parents teach their children from an early age to despise Yorubas. This is a counter-productive strategy because either we like it or not, we need each other in this complex Nigerian environment. I thank God my parents did not teach me hate. I am 100 % Biafran but I do not believe HATE is a requirement to be a Biafran or to achieve Biafra. Biafra when it is realized will be the shinning light on the hill. And hate will not take us there. Only strategic thinking and planning; and making deals with people we disagree with will take us there.
