The story is set in mainly Asaba metro. It commenced in 2007 when the major character was in year one (Delta State University (Anwai campus), this means that older versions of gadgets will be consistently used. If you remember, Mercedes Benz 190, Slow Whine by R.Kelly, Sagem My-X5 (Phone) and all types of older gadgets have been used. I'm trying to clarify this so readers would have a better understanding of the story.

I want to decimate all fears that this book will be abandoned (it's not our portion, IJN).

Finally, while it's great to assume that I am the character (biography or diary), I would prefer to say that this book is fiction. I have never had problems with cult boys and hope not to forever. Going forward I will reduce the emphasis on related events. Once again I wish to reiterate that this book is fiction (imagination), so enjoy it as it is dished. I assure you that it's a long ride, bumpy and memorable ride. Just be patient enough to stick around, I will really appreciate it. The continuation will start soonest (as I juggle real life with writing). Stay blessed Famz.

My best character is Badoh, i liked the way he acted cool during the whole situation with Mezie, despite having someone like the Caretaker that would have handled the situation differently, he decided to handle it on his own.

Chapter 41

FriEnemy

Ken and Badoh met earlier than most school friends. They met when they came to the school to buy Post-UTME form. They exchanged cellphone numbers as they both kept themselves informed on the latest news as they waited impatiently for admission. Even when they returned for the entrance exam they hanged out a couple of times and dreamt of the idea that they could be roommates, until Badoh decided out of the blue that he loved his privacy. That, however did not extinguish their springing friendship. They looked for accommodation together, although Ken could not afford to pay for it alone, that was why he pasted an advert inside campus with the inscription: ROOMMATE NEEDED, CALL...
Some days after matriculation, Efe called Ken and the rest as is often said is his story (history).
It's been a few days since Efe blew whistle on his roommate. Surprisingly, Badoh did not approach Ken as he expected, Efe became even more agitated with time. Living with Ken in the same room became a daunting task as he chose to spend most of his time in Badoh's place. At some point it began to draw Ken's suspicion until Badoh spoke to Efe about it. He was able to convince him to be his undercover cop as he chose the long game.
Badoh and Ken still rolled together, but it was mostly in company of Efe. He starting probing more about Ken. He knew now where he lived in Ibusa town, Umuehea precisely which was 12 kilometers from the State Capital, Asaba. He would sometimes ask Ken the same question repeatedly in different ways or pattern. He would note it whenever he discovered a lie. The biggest lie was when Ken said he was Jew. Badoh had doubts at first but convinced himself he had no reason to disbelief.
However, recent findings and related events - eg Mezie - seems to have opened his eyes. For someone grounded in the streets, he seemed to have let his guard down transiently. As he sat in his room looking at his book but indefinitely unable to achieve a camera's focus, he heard a knock as the carpenter came in to inform him that the caretaker needed his presence.
Badoh packed up his book and his thoughts too as he locked up his room door. He went down through the back staircase and approached Baroni. Baroni was sitting on a bench alongside the carpenter. He shook hands with him and perched on the bench.
"Boss, hope no gbege?" He asked Baroni.
"No gbege." Baroni replied. He dropped the MJ with him in a flat stainless steel plate and brought out money from his pocket, he handed it over to Badoh and told him to count it. Badoh did and it was N10,000 only. Badoh looked up at Baroni when he was done. His eyes had questions. Questions like what's the money for? Of course Badoh wouldn't mind if it was a part refund of his rent for probably being a good tenant or the tenant of the year, but he was sure that was never going to happen. So what could the money be for? His thoughts and questions showed in his face.
Baroni saw he had a million questions and answered them. "Na money wey that bornfool bring as he fine for fighting. Now the question na wetin we go take the 10k do?" Baroni finished with a question of his own.
"Well, na you be caretaker, so you decide," Badoh said handing the money back to him but he left his hand hanging.
"Money dey hot you for hand? Hold am. I know say you settle with the idiot people, so minus am from there, then talk how we go scatter the remaining balance, no time." Baroni preached.
"But he no matter bros," Badoh said trying to return the money again, but Baroni would have none of that. When Badoh knew that he would not get away with dropping the money, he sought out a solution that would benefit everyone. Baroni had informed him that all previous fines in the lodge were directed straight to his pocket with no questions asked from anybody, but this was different, Badoh worked for it and deserved a cut according to him, if for nothing, but for the fact that he helped him carve out loyalty from the impulsive Mezie.
Badoh thought with the money in his hand for awhile, before reaching a conclusion.
"Let's use the money to throw a party or get-together before exams start," he declared.
"Party? Money no reach na. Na only DJ and fuel e go buy before the purchase power naked," the carpenter chipped in totally not in support.
Baroni meanwhile kept mum. He observed both as they engaged in a debate.
"This money go reach. No be big party. Na inside lodge e go go down. We no need DJ, people wey get home theatre go bring am out. N500 fuel go power us for 6 hours minimum. Na drinks naim we need with this money, then individuals go support too as the gbedu dey boom." Badoh explained.
"But no forget say party dey prohibited for this lodge." The carpenter protested again, although this time weakly as he begins to succumb to his debater's greater intellect.
"Before you consider the law first consider say exam dey run come. Many lodgemates no know themselves because of self containment. This na chance to socialize. Besides, the only law I know for this lodge na Baba Baroni. Anything he talk naim be law." Badoh said looking up to Baroni. With his last sentence he placed the ball on his court.
Baroni, took his weed, took a long drag from it as the smoke filled the outside. The strong nauseating smell could be perceived from 1 kilometer away. He inhaled deeply before puffing the used smoke out.
"You dey correct, bad guy. You wan enter my head, but no be lie you talk because na me be law for this lodge. So we go hold party." Baroni said.
As Badoh heard this, smile erupted from his face stretching from his mouth to his ears.
"Thank you bros," Badoh said.
"But, if any complain, wahala or gbege come out, know say na the last party wey go happen for this lodge be that," Baroni warned.
Their short-lived caucus meeting ended as Badoh was left with the responsibility of making a party happen by the next day. He quickly climbed up to Ken's room to inform them about the party, but he met only Efe. Before he could express his excitement, Efe ambushed him with a new information.
"I know who Ken was talking to. His name is GoLion," he said. "They are meeting today, that's why he left the house." Efe continued in a whisper.
"GoLion? GoLion!!!" Badoh repeated twice. Now why does that name sound awfully familiar? He wondered.
