Lord in heaven. Why telling me what I myself reported here? undecided Is it that some of you here don't read comments before quoting someone? That was me making light banter and I have already posted the comments of the Spanish FA president himself explaining why Lopetegui had to be fired... Good God! Next time... Try to follow comments before quoting someone... I have hammered on this already before... It will save lots of irrelevant replies like this one.

this your clap back is totally unnecessary, explaining why he was sacked won't change your explanation report you gave earlier.

I doubt anyone denies the brilliance of Siasia, the problem has always been corruption. These guys can sell their soul for filthy lucre.

With all the glories that was to come, look at what Keshi did to his own legacy.

grin

Even our so called Messiah - Rohr - is being accused of Corruption by some Dudes. Siasia has Learned his Lessons, and I'm kinda sure if he gets the 2nd Chance, he won't dare to mess around with it.

Rohr has been in Africa quite a While. I expect him to have mastered the Africa Football, rather he's tailoring the Team in an european Fashion. Sir this ain't gonna help us in the Long Run.

Mickael2, Supernerd and Mujtahida have made the best Propositions. I hope Rohr can mix African Flair with european Tactics.

Hello house...

It's the Eve of the world cup, and our darling super eagles would be carrying the hopes and dreams of the nation and Africa as a whole.. It's j about 19hours to the first kickoff of the world cup, Hence it is not out

Previewing the Nigeria vs Croatia match...

Yea, people having been making predictions, even animals.. But here is my own opinion..

The game will be a physical one for the first 20 minutes , Croatia will attempt to rile us up, commit us,
so we start giving uneccessary fouls and conceding corner kicks and free kicks, their aim will be for them to score a goal from a set piece in the first 15 min.. This would
be their first undoing, cause unfortunately for them, and fortunately for us, they would meet a more tactically defensive Nigeria..
I think Nigeria would settle into game, seeing they are able to over come their previous problem of being jittery and conceeding early, and would go on to score a goal in around the 30min, Croatia will begin to fidget, and come out blazing in the second half, but Nigeria would put in a second from counter attack, and go on to add a third .. Croatia will score a goal though.. And that would end the match..

Nigeria 3 : crc 1...

Super Eagles update: Buildup to Cro-Nga

From Samm Audu's Blog on Fifa.com:

Dalic on the Super Eagles

"I see Nigeria as a young, potent and hungry team with great potential. This first match is very important - it will set the tone for the rest of our tournament."

Coach Rohr on the team... Ambitious outsiders he terms us

Coach Gernot Rohr, meanwhile, has described the Super Eagles as “ambitious outsiders” going into the World Cup in Russia. “We’re outsiders, but we’re ambitious outsiders,” he declared on the team’s arrival at the Mineralnye Vody Airport.
“We’re a young team, we may lack experience, but we still have some experienced players like our captain, John Obi Mikel. We’re very excited. We are happy and have waited a long time to be here."

Siasia has an identity but team selection is always very suspicious. There is a major flaw in that system, it is defensively very flawed. When you face an organized team, you will struggle. You can not outscore everyone.

Brazil used to be about the flair in the 70s but Europeans soon figured how to use organization to neutralize Brazil. Brazil went 24 years without a world cup trophy.

Rohr is a German so it will be more about efficiency.

Seriously it touches me more than anyother thing. I'd have felt like a mad man if not that Oasis too grabs the fact that Siasia is close to everything we need. Some/most of our local coaches are only good enough for U17 people where ego is yet to set in. Look at Iheanacho's U20, IIRC Success came to the tournament a day or so before the first match yet he told the coach he wanted to play and the coach didn't check his ego and played him, in fact he ended up playing Awoniyi out of position. On a normal no African parent would behave like that, as a coach you need to be a tactician and a father to the players, that means you need to understand what they need and that is why top countries recruit local coaches. Isn't it funny that CAF coaching licence does not make sense, is it the Europeans that will teach us how to play football in Africa? Football did not start anywhere, just like you are black and naturally you can't have curly hair, so also you can't be able to do what the Europeans do. No African player can pass very well like Xavi, which is why Barca hardly waste their time recruiting African players. But no European is going to be as fast as Ikedia for 90mins straight, they naturally do not have that ability. All continents produce dribblers but obviously Africa produces a lot more than Europe because here nobody cares about the defender, only that fanciful winger who left 3 players in his wake, and the guy that scored the goal, that's how we work in Africa. So our advantages are, easily, our strength and our dribbling ability. Trying to imbibe a possession game will not make sense to us because naturally it isn't what we do, we do the direct approach to everything. So the sooner we realise that possession game, though it may be the norm, isn't our game. South Africa for example have almost all their players from the local league, the problem is that they tend to think that they are less African, they coach themselves in the European way trying to pass their way out, it may work in one or two matches but in the long run it won't work. Like I have said before, if Rohr was the team manager and Siasia the tactician going to this world cup, I would have applied for my leave, pay the 520k that I saw in one ad and go to Russia because I am sure we would be getting out of the group. Our problem is that our good local coaches almost always allow greed to take over them. For a moment just pause and wonder if Ike Uche or Obafemi Martins was our second choice striker in 2014, if Joel Obi had been the one entering that French game instead of Reuben, if Igiebor had been the player going in when Babatunde got injured, trust me had it been we utilised the proper tools we had France for dey go house, but even with only 11 players and 12 other farmers, Keshi got to the Round of 16, that shows you what we could achieve if we remove greed.

I don dey write too much sha because this is a topic that seriously appeals to me and it exposes our over-dependence on foreign stuffs and why we need to stop it.
Bro I dey feel you cos you are pouring out your heart. When I read that book das reboot:how Germany won the WC, I realised that Germany didn't do anything magical. They just applied plain common sense creating footballing pitches around every 4km (not sure about the actual km but the idea is to have pitches everywhere for budding talents to play) throughout Germany. Scouts and coaches are attached to this pitches to identify talented players. They gather them within a region, and then gather them at the national level. What is hard about doing this? Shebi RCCG has a policy of planting churches at designated km ranges in cities and rural areas. So it's not something that cannot be replicated for football. But when I thought about this I realised that corruption will scuttle the plan no matter how simple and beautiful it is. In Germany it was one man that ran the show as he was given money as far back as 1998 to implement the plan. Rohr was even in the book as a key figure.
But if we come up with such a plan, dem go sit down chop the money.
How one can claim to be a lover of football and be corrupt in football affairs amazes me. Is it not this game that in the height of our passion we were ready to sacrifice and endure?
Corruption is truly one of the factors limiting us. We are certainly not lacking in skills and intelligence. But on matters of principle and integrity we always compromise- even the best among us cannot withstand the blandishment of our culture of compromise.

Glad you totally understood my point. I will look for that movie.
If the Brazilian squad of 82 had won the WC, perhaps the complexion of world football would have been different from what it is now.

Imagine Brazil were in USA 94 yet we were crowned most entertaining team. And ranked 5th in the world shortly afterwards. There's really need for an African style coupled with the best of the European style.

very true bros, but Nigeria was ranked 5th before the worldcup

Rohr: Super Eagles Physically Ready For Croatia; Russians Should Support Their In-Law Mikel, Son Idowu

By Nnamdi Ezekute in Kaliningrad:

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has stated that the team is battle ready for Saturday’s Group D clash against Croatia at the Kaliningrad Stadium and stated he will make a final decision on the starting line-up on the eve of the game, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The three-time African champions will hope to start their campaign on a winning note when they confront the Vatreni here in Kaliningrad on Saturday.

“Now the team is ready. We are physically ready. We have two training sessions today (Wednesday) and we will see the players again,” Rohr stated during his interaction with the media at the team’s base in Essentuki.
“We have a full week in Russia and the players showed good commitment. Technically and tactically we have three days to work on some things.

Rohr benched Ogenyi Onazi in the team’s final build-up game against Czech Republic a week ago with Israel-based midfielder John Ogu now firm favourite to start ahead of The Trabzonspor midfielder.

The likes of Tyronne Ebuehi and Oghenekaro Etebo are also pushing for starting berths in the team having impressed in training but the German is not willing to give out any information on what his line-up will look like for the game.
“We have our team in our heart already but we will wait till the final moment before we give it out,” Rohr declared.
“We spent nine days in Austria, two training sessions everyday.
“This preparation gives us a possibility to see who is fit physically and who needs more time to be ready.”

The Super Eagles will come up against an experienced Croatia side with a number of quality stars like Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic, Mario Mandzukic, Ivan Perisic and co but the German coach believes his side’s enthusiasm can help them beat the Croats.

“Croatia watched us against England and Czech Republic. The game will be a good one for both teams. It is an important game for the two teams as it is good to start with a win,” Rohr added.
“They are more experienced than us but we have young team. There is big enthusiasm in the team. You know this desire, big enthusiasm can make a team perform better.”

The former Niger Republic and Gabon coach also provided update on the injury front and delivered positive news on defender Tyronne Ebuehi who picked a nose injury during training on Tuesday.

“Yesterday, we had a little shock in camp.Tyronne Ebuehi had a nose injury. It was not a broken nose. The doctors did a good job,” Rohr stressed.
“The treatment was okay. Aside from that little injury, everyone is fit at the moment.”

He also spared a thought for the duo of Moses Simon and
Carl Ikeme, two members of the team who are be in Russia due to injury and Illness.

“Before we came here, Moses Simon was injured but he is getting better now. He was not able to make the final 23,” he added.
“We have our goalkeeper Carl Ikeme who is always in our mind all the time.
“All the players here are fit. The challenge for us is to work hard without sustaining any injury. ”

The likes of Ahmed Musa, Bryan Idowu are well known to the Russian fans, while skipper of the side Mikel Obi is married to a Russian and Rohr hopes that will work in his side’s favour.

“The distance here from one city to another is very long. But our camp is nice and peaceful. There is good possibility to recover,” he revealed.
“We arrived here late in the night because of the delay we had and some of our luggage is still not here. We got here around 1am and people still came out to welcome us.
“We have some our players who have special relationship with Russia. Idowu who is Russian and Nigerian born and Musa who plays for CSKA Moscow.
Of course there is also Mikel who is married to a Russian. We hope this will help us get the sympathy of the Russian public.
“We won’t have the possibility of our fans back home coming out to support us as the distance is very far but we hope the fans can give us their support
because of these players.
“Croatia is not far from here and we expect their fans to come out in large numbers to support their team.”

You Speak my mind.
But I think Iheanacho has something to give to this team, free kicks et al.
But it seems Rohr is not ready to give him a chance;
He has played a peripheral parts of the last two friendlies.
Just thinking who could convert a freekick to a goal for us.
