VO: how did you get to know about the school?
ME: My Dad's friend who is an alumni of the school recommended it to me, and as a result of this. I went online to read more on the school curriculum, Standard, program offered and it's notable alumnus.

Thanks for your message. Would there not be change of circumstances? Would I have continued to say my friend would sponsor me when he's not? The time difference between my second B1/B2 interview and my first F1 interview was 5 years.... What is your suggestion since you have identified some inconsistencies in my transcripts? I need advice/suggestions to move on hence, I posted the transcripts. Thanks.
lasthero:

your f1 interview.

at the bolded, i can see too many inconsistency.

at first, a friend was sponsoring you, then in the next stage, you were sponsoring yourself.

also, at first, you hire trucks and you don't own a filling station.
then next, you own a filling station and trucks.

i think the VO checked your previous records when asking all those bold questions.

also, your response where i bolded was also short and none convincing

my thought though. i might be wrong

Good choice of schools. Number 1,2 and 4 are top schools. In choosing schools , your profile and area of research matters. Make sure that before you apply, you get all the required information you need. Ask the graduate school Coordinator the right questions e.g Funding opportunities, required test scores, whether you need to upload or send in your transcripts etc. Send me an e-mail then I can forward the GRE materials I have. Also go through the GRE thread. There are lots of valuable information there. Cheers.

Thanks my brother, for ur prompt response. This is my e-mail:cream212kee@gmail.com. once again, I appreciate one love.

Good is subjective .... my poor score might be your good score and vice versa .

I don't think both the toefl or sat are good , but that me because I expect much higher . Hence why I said you have admission so focus on that and how you present yourself

Hello,
Do you think of GRE Q159 and V162 will be competitive for a funded Mech Msc/phd program in the schools the class of the ones initially listed by the OP. I made some errors during the Quant, and I feel i might be able to do better. I want to know of its necessary.

Thanks

I like your choice of schools. PhD in Electrical Engineering should be easier to get than MS in same course

If you feel your GRE isn't the best representation of your abilities, you are always free to rewrite.

And once again, I like your choice of schools

While applying, make sure you put at least 3 ambitious schools there... UT Austin is one... You can increase it to 5 according to your risk level

But also add a couple of moderate and safe schools (BUT NOT TOO MUCH OF THEM!)

Being application smart is knowing how to mix your ambitious, moderate and safe schools... I've seen people apply only to super safe (not even safe schools) and yet, they claim they are application smart grin grin grin. And some of them even get rejected from the super safe schools cos they are over qualified and they begin to feel that safe schools are difficult to join.

So, your pocket (for application fees) determines the number of schools you can apply to... But I advise you include at least 3 ambitious schools cos your profile is decent

Smash that GRE (especially the Quant), rape the AWA (4.5+). I see you already have strong proficiency in verbal. For most people, it's natural

Finally, I wish you the best of luck

Visa delayed yesterday 13th June 2018 by a black American Lady at Walter Carrington

My General profile: Am quite young (less than 25), I wrote GRE twice and TOEFL and got good scores, I applied to 4 schools. I was going for masters in information systems. My UG was in Mechanical Engineering

Interview:
I was the second person she interviewed after denying the first guy.
VO: Pass me your passport and i20
Sheke01: I passed it
VO: How did you know about Cleveland State University?
Sheke01: I got to know about cleveland state university from professor Matos Victor, a professor at CSU. I studied his works during my android programming certification program.
She type for a while and looked up
VO: Did you apply to other schools?
Sheke: Yes, I applied to 3 other schools
VO: Name them
Sheke01: Arizona state University Tempe, University of texas elpaso, University of North Carolina Charlotte.
She didn't ask about admits and rejects. She typed for a while again, looked up and asked
VO: Who's sponsoring you?
Sheke01: My mum
VO: What does she do?
Sheke01: She is a successful business woman. She is a major distributor of Dangote products.
She typed for a while and said am sorry, you are not qualified

I dont think there is much anyone can learn from my transcript but i felt obliged to share it. People are encouraging me to apply again but am not really into it right now because I really felt dehumanised by her yesterday that I began to wonder how racism would feel like (but na me find her go na).

Most masters are two years regardless of what your i20 states .... some schools put a buffer on the i20 that why it longer than 2 years

So a simple explanation is yes your masters is 2 years program. Although the school i20 is 33 months as a buffer. This is not unique to you so most VO knows about this. However master is 2 years so your masters is 2 years

A good PhD is funded and universities/Professors recruit the very best to do research for them.It is like a job. Positions are offered to the most qualified. Masters degrees as you rightly pointed out has become cash cows for universities.Sometimes, people are admitted to Masters degree programs to make up the numbers. That's doesn't happen for a PhD. It is easier to get admitted for a masters degree than a PhD. If the wrong applicant is given a PhD positon, it affects the Professor's research work.,
