Beckham from 99 - 02 was probably the second best midfielder in man united after Roy Keane.
It's a myth that he was only good at crossing. He was a superb passer, had an above average touch, great vision and crazy stamina. Yeah he didn't have the flair and Skill of Figo, but he was a VERY good player.
His best position was as a CM. Didn't have the pace and skill to beat defenders on the flanks.
It also did help he was handsome.
If Beckham had the looks of Kante or Luke Chadwick, he wouldn't be remembered with so much nostalgia.

Iwobi On His Best Roommate, Favourite Goal, Aubameyang Style, Shaku Shaku

Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi, who is with the squad in Russia for the World Cup, answered some fun questions in a short BBC Africa video…

Special goal?

My goal for Nigeria vs Zambia (Iwobi sc6the winner against Zambia in Uyo, the goal that sealed the Super Eagles Russia 2018 World Cup ticket).

Favourite boy band?

Kelechi (Iheanacho) has some lowkey songs. I’d probably have Ezenwa on the chorus or something like that.

Favourite Okocha goal?

It has to be against Middlesbrough. He bent it in. I was with dad that day and it was amazing.

Best dressed: you or Aubameyang?

I believe I’m the best dressed. He’s a bit too flash. I don’t really like too much flash.

Weirdest item teammate has brought to camp?

Kelechi actually brought a microwave when we were in London, of all things. But I found it useful because he was in my room and we could warm up our food.

Barcelona or Real Madrid on FIFA 18?

Barcelona.

Best and worst roommates?

Both have to be Kelechi. He has this tendency to be late and I don’t like to leave him behind because we’re roommates and I feel we’re in this together. But at the same time he’s fun, he’s always enjoyment. He’s the best and the worst at the same time.

Most difficult dance move?

Shaku shaku. I’m still learning it and I have to learn it before the World Cup by force. I’m still learning the footwork.

Russia 2018 Final clock countdown: 8 hours 47 mins to go

Looks like the players are planning to use shaku shaku dance for goal celebration

bros or else you don't understand English, you said cavani and suarez has one of the goal ratio in the world(not worldcup) except neymar, ronaldo amd messi and i told you there were many players above them and some are even in the worldcup.

zlatan and Cahill playing to 35 or 38 does not mean a thing, don't you know what ratio is??

and why are you comparing all players to suarez what of cavani?

what of lewandowski??

baba before you talk check your fact before you miss inform people

I meant World Cup bro, they have one of the best goal ratio, did I say the best ?

As you call some player say I argue ? Did I argue about lewandowski?

I point out my example

Oga playing to 38 means alot unless you don't watch football, are you trying to tell me if Suarez play till 38 he won't score any goals seems you said it doesn't mean ? Common bro you know better than this .

Thank you

That's the point. From being overhyped because of his looks to getting underrated because of it as well. He was a good player. Some people are making it look like all he could do was cross and take freekicks.
Becks in today's game would be a great DLP. Passing range, vision and stamina.

There is a huge gap between U17 and U20. The former is largely developmental, which is why we have struggled to translate our successes to that level.

TheGoodJoe:

Fine point. The bolded is what I agree with. We just need to refine our U17 model but work with it on a higher level. From the selection to playing style. If we do this, we fly.

Who are the latins of old?

From the barrage of attacks and the way Nigeria was playing, by latins of old, the commentator was probably referring to Roman soldiers...known for their discipline, tactical and combat effectiveness and composure.

The Nigeria dream team of 96 class was beautiful.

I also believe we can achieve greatness with our indigenious coaches but they will need support, better pay and most importantly time to make their impact. Most of our indigenious coaches suffer from the fire brigade approach that has hindered our football.

I also feel Amunike can deliver a good job if given the opportunity.

Agreed without reservation

There's nothing tough about choosing between Dennis and David. The former was insanely good at almost everything an attacking player is expected to be good at.

Dennis, easily.

Something I have been trying to explain since inception of this forum.

The U20 is a lot more competitive than U17.

The U20 has moved from mere future potential to proven actual ability.

You will find most Western European teams will have players who are if not regular first team players all will definitely have played first team football.

They will not be academy players.

Indeed there will be some who have caps at senior national team.

U17 is only indicative not conclusive of quality just potential. However, too many will be referring to U17 games to asses player ability and quality.

Very flawed approach

Maduabuchi Obinwa's case even verifies the strictness of the MRI scan because even though he was sixteen, he failed the test. So it means it is very difficult for overaged players to pass.

Finito.

Pleas read what I wrote about the topic with an open mind and consider your statement again please.

This i will disagree with you, most good European dribblers are hyped by the media, but african players with such quality don't have that media attention.

No one knows how much Okocha was good with the ball untill Italy match. the commentator keep saying Okocha is one of the best players in the tournerment, same okocha that started just the Italy match, alot of dribble star like finidi, siasia, Amokachi and Amunike and even more but the media never cared to take note that was why it came as a surprise to them.

Even now so many people even Nigerians don't know an Ighalo is full of skills, a simon step overs could send you to the Bush and even a henry onyekuru ball movement could get one lost.

European media hype there own, if i didn't see Beckham play i would have thought he was way better than kanu and okocha put together.

and this media makes our player inferior and it affect our game, African players and team need to be Brave to win the worldcup

I will qualify your opinion with my observations.

In Europe much more emphasis is placed on end product, the purpose of the dribble is to gain advantage for your team and or overcome your opponent. Then to deliver END PRODUCT.

In Africa we can be found guilty of playing to the gallery showboating without end product.

As a result players with mesmerising skill will may not display that in match. Being disciplined they will think of end product first before dribbling or showboating.

For instance when I watched Tega Onomah and Tega Abrahams in training they were full of skills and tricks but limit in in the game. You may think therfore that they are limited in thier skill set.

A player you may think lacks Skill also is Dele Alli watch him in training and you will be pleasantly suprised.

Kanu and Okocha had flair but when it comes to decisiveness, Beckham was way ahead. One of the best the game ever saw.

Once again I agree for all thier skill and flair how good was thier end product.

At one stage Okocha had more shots on goal than any player in the EPL but his goal tally was far from impressive.

I think your being emotively prejudiced and your tone presumptuously derogatory.

I don't always agree with the TheGoodJoe but he is not an Uncle Tom to be influenced by Western media and has enough understanding to of the game not to be carried away by superficial marketing.

Nobody thinks Beckham was the most skilful player. However, the skill set he had dead ball delivery and crosses was World class. Beckham didnt have much pace but he could deliver the ball with pin point accuracy.

Sometimes that skill is more effective than doing drag backs and step overs without end product.
