First of all, you don't have to start a game in order to provide an assist or even score a goal. Got it

Having said that, I think Ebuehi would start on Saturday because Rohr would play 3-5-2.

Mark my words!

O pari

I am only stating my doubt about Rohr choosing Tryon and also playing 3-5-2. That's my point.

And why are you so sure about it?

Bros, that day I was so pissed off that I wanted to break my TV.

It's true that we tend to banter with Ghana but I threw my support 100% with them once Nigeria were eliminated at the World Cup. I wanted them to make it to the final because it was Africa's World Cup. Anyway, since that day, I parted ways with Luis Suarez and Uruguay team. I still don't like Suarez to this day, even though he plays for Barca grin

I so appreciate your perspective on this issue and your suggestions are quite beautiful. I agree with you that different countries in Europe have different playing styles but whatever the style Europeans always want to play in an organised way and currently because of the infusion of technology into football, the emphasis on organised football is increasing. I believe we don't have to play that way. We can infuse effectiveness into our style. Our style from the 90's wasn't exactly European Sir. No European country played the way we played in 90's.

But on the whole I agree with your points.

I agree with you without any reservation on the bolded.

I think we adopted the Dutch style of play in the 90s. Anyway, I get your point but which why forward?

Nah, they were totally average. Same with the Copa America. That's why I can't understand why they are rated very highly by the pundits. Frankly, I wish we had Uruguay instead of Croatia, even though Croatia didn't impress in the qualifiers either.

The '96 Olympic team, if that's what you were referring to, were more talented than the '94 World cup team. But the '94 team play better as a team and play better football. The '96 team won matches with talents alone. It was not a well coached team. Bonfrere Jo was a piss poor coach. And he got exposed when he was made the Super Eagles coach.

Nigeria should've become a world powerhouse if our leaders had the foresight to retain Clemence Westerhof after the '94 World Cup. Rather those morons blamed him for our loss to Italy and ran him out of town. Then BonJo turned around and stabbed him at the back angry sad shocked

O pari

you have a problem with bonfrere jo, if ikpeba scored that penalty maybe you may like him better

Fine point. The bolded is what I agree with. We just need to refine our U17 model but work with it on a higher level. From the selection to playing style. If we do this, we fly.

I agree. As you said, we must refine and at the same time be able to switch to another style.

Team will jet out to Kaliningrad by 1.55 pm Nigerian time (3.55pm local time in Essentuki) ahead of the Croatia tie.

Victor moses sure seems to be smiling a lot these days... He is looking so happy and ready to get it going for the team. wink
In case you're one of those who tag him selfish and big headed. Why so much care about him now.

Well, like I told icon4s yesterday, Rohr really has to be dumb not to deploy 3-5-2. Based on the players at his disposal and based on what we saw during the pre-tournament friendlies, it's clear that 3-5-2 is our best option. He wouldn't publicly admit to it right now but I think he would use that formation on Saturday.

Fingers crossed tho.

but guy truthfully imagine this scenario.. 119mins in extra time France 0 Nigeria 0.. France has a corner.. lemar takes the corner.. giroud heads the ball. uzoho is clearly beaten and the ball is flying into the net.. Moses on the line cannot get it with the head and throws his hands up and parries the ball away.. ref gives Moses red card as expected.. griezmman goes to take the penalty (probably last kick of the encounter ).. griezmman balloons the ball to the crowd.. match enters penalty shout out and Nigeria wins.. how do you think Nigerians will view Moses and do yu think France will view griezmman?

I wasn't surprised by what Suarez did. South American football is not clean football. They believe that if you can cheat and get an advantage for the team,DO SO! It's their belief and I love it. I bet you, you'll still see that kind of play in this world cup.

Bros, with the talent we had at that time, even coach Yusuf (or myself sef) would've breeze through that AFCON with ease especially with us being the host. To me, BonJo is a fraud. He wasted our golden generation of players!

How come he hasn't had any other coaching job since leaving Nigeria?

maybe we Africans ought to also know when to employ dark arts in football too. although south Americans are notorious for such but Europeans also do it.. e.g. albertini against us in USA 94

But common bro for you to call Martinez one of the best manager are u kidding me ?

Martinez drop niangollan and pick players from china,Martinez is a crappy manager.

Gernot rohr will be successful with the Belgium team full with star players

Martinez is not that of a good coach, please stop calling him one of the best

every coach has players he believe can work with him, even Low dropped sane even Brazil invited Chinese players too

Common not nianggolan should be dropped, personal issues should not be bring in terms of selection.

How can you take a west brom player to the World Cup and stop nianggolan?

It's just like Belgium taking benteke and dropping lukaku.

Nianggolan is Belgium best midfielder so what are you saying?

Brazil has been inviting Chinese based players since the qualifiers,Paulinho and renato augusto, even if Paulinho didn't make Barca move he is a sure starter in that team.

Haha!! Ol' boy, you should be a screenwriter grin

That was very well illustrated. Yes, VicMo would definitely become a Nigerian hero but he would become a villain in France and the whole of Europe. And those pundits are never gonna forgive him. For instance, in the 2014 (2010?) World Cup qualifiers, Thierry Henry used his hand to score a goal against was it Ireland or Northern Ireland, the goal was allowed to stand but to the UK media raised hell. There were even calls from various quarters for the game to be replayed. To this day, the British media is yet to forgive Diego Maradona for the so called hand of god goal he scored against England in 1986! Yet what Suarez did in 2010, which was much worse if being viewed as a footnote.

96 team was better than the 94 team to me, it was a perfect team

But 96 team was under 23 plus Uche Okechukwu, Taribo and cant remember the third over aged player. 96 was a mixed of under 23 and three over aged players while 94 was the real deal. Abacha's and South Africa's politics denied us the chance to see the 96 Super Eagles so i think 94 set was better.

how did he waste our golden generation, he took us to 2 tournerment and he won one and was second in the other courtesy of a penalty shootout.

Well, that ball would be ruled as a goal if he does the same thing today. They have changed the rules.

I mean, think about it, did Uruguay play even a single minute with 10 men in that match? It was totally unfair what happened to Ghana!!
