theamerican: No, I’m talking about American Banks like Wellsfargo & Bank of America. It’s not as easy as you make it seem for RN to $100,000 You fail to realize that $80k+ per annum is before tax by the time taxes are taken out and Bills are paid including Rent & Car note then it becomes very difficult to saved up such amount of money. 2 Likes 1 Share |

theamerican: Interesting read. Let's hope your car doesn't get repossessed, I've seen this happen a lot on screen and it's quite devastating for folks who experience it One question, is your earning as an Uber driver not taxed? 1 Like |

travelland: Same way we should hope you don't get picked up on your way home by SARS operatives and shot in the head to die on the spot. This also happens to people and it's devastating for their friends and family afterwards. Take your negativity away from me. Uber earnings are taxed. Paying taxes unlike you doesn't scare me. Moreover there are countless things to claim as deductions. Driven miles, gas I bought, insurance paid, etc. At the end of the day, the taxable income is reduced greatly and I may not even pay anything significant. 18 Likes |

Godson201333: Firstly, I don’t live around Harlem Secondly, I don’t need you to pay for my Vacation. I have more than enough money to take a Vacation with my Girlfriend Besides who goes to Monaco for a Vacation? I wouldn’t go even if it was free. Most people go to Jamaica, Paris & London. 1 Like |

LUCAS99: Where/when/how did I make it seem easy for a RN to earn/save/make $100k? I only said it's a possibility. I don't know where you people live that bills and tax is taking all your earnings o. RNs with experience, working in ICU for example, can earn $80k+ AFTER TAX (I know one in Tennessee). It depends on lifestyle. She currently has two houses, 2 cars and has $55k cash in her account. I promise I can show you proof if you think I'm making it up. My point is: it is not an impossibility. Things happen in this life of ours. |

theamerican: $447 is really good just for three days of work. I heard most Uber Drivers & Lyft Drivers make a lot of money on Weekends. Usually Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 10:00 PM - 4:00 AM. There is usually a surge around that time since most people are going back home from the Clubs & Parties which in turn increases your earnings. |

theamerican: I didn’t say you’re making it up. The point is that for her to command such Salary she definitely has a ton of experience. If she is making $80K+ AFTER TAX, then that means she makes around $120K+ BEFORE TAX. That’s a lot of money anywhere in America and not so many people command such salary I usually put 0 when filling out my work paperwork so that the government takes all their taxes. But like you know when we file our taxes during the beginning of the year we usually get a lot of money that was deducted from our paycheck during the preceding year. |

Waoh...seeing people arguing back and forth from unnecessary comparison BTW countries and who made the best decision over the other.i ask if these people understand what it is to live and let live??.stay your lane and let me stay on mine,my success is not your success, everyone to his/her choice but don't rub yours on my face as being the better choice. Now,when someone talk about how some RNs make $80k and above, have enough savings, buy houses and how they make over $400 as a cab driver over the weekend and the "how many" theory;(how many can buy a car in Nigeria, yet they drive around on car notes, how many can buy a house in Nigeria yet they are on mortgages and how many can save N30m in Nigeria yet they can't boast of $10k in their own personal account.),they even claim money is not everything .I laugh so hard at their hypocrisy and self deceptions....so finally and finally speaking it's all about the MONEY...hahaha...it's no longer about the sane society, the security, the system that works, the good infrastructures,no police harassment etc...hmmmm,I was taught there's reward in honestly, why can't these people be sincere enough to admit they took the plunge for economic reasons??.if the forex situations is like $1=N1,would they have made the move??., P.S.... I was pulled over earlier today by the cops only to ask for my ID and who owns the car I was driving ,I equally asked if he would like to know who owns the blazer i was on.I guess my offense was that an African man was seen driving a convertible.if that is not intimidation and racially induced discrimination, then the likes of op and co should educate me. |

travelland:I read through this post and the next one where you said 'you called me out' and I wondered what you are talking about.. You made too many assumptions and even after I stated I am not a rich kid, you choose to ignore that but rather form your own ideas. As for spending $20,000 additional aside the grants, I would say - Who no go, no know. What is keeping most prospective students back in Nigeria is the lack of knowledge which I have tried to impart into them. People don't need as much as they think they do. Someone here said earlier that 'bad is better than worse', please don't compare natural disasters to those that are man-made. If I choose to sit my arse all day during the summer, that's my business don't start crying. I volunteered for 2 days, spent some time on the beach and people are hating cos I don't see any other reason why people like this post of yours. Don't be quick to jump into conclusions, I have a summer mentorship program for the entire July where I would earn some pay. About selling of birthright... What brought about this point cos I am confused. 2 Likes |

Most of the time, the problem people have with something isn't that it is bad, it is the fact that it doesn't meet their expectations. This explains why some people have so much nonsense to say and even go out of their way to justify senseless rhetoric. I am doing fantastic and I am completely happy with where I am today. I'm not rich or living a perfect life but you can bet I'm excited for the future. There's a reason the life expectancy in Nigeria is 53 and that in the U.S. is 78! I hope it's not too late when you figure it out. 2 Likes |
