When I said Mr Tata was away for 2 weeks, I meant in the month of May (14th - 26th). He was busy getting the job done away from the office to avoid attention. I tell you, just only few persons knew what he was up to.

Thank you @ Sumari for the update, at least it’s now confirmed that it’s officially over. We both arrived at the same conclusion. Don’t waste your precious time thinking of FCC, like I said earlier in my previous post that some persons @ FCC will remain quiet or provide false information protect their interest, try to relate it with what the incumbent Chairman of FCC has done.

Ensure you make effort to confirm if your name is on the approved list @ the HQ. The letters are almost ready.

It appears you don't understand the way things are being done in government. In government there is what is called bureaucracy, which makes it difficult for an individual (even the President himself) to single-handedly hijack a governmental process.

You see, in this recruitment process, Mr Shakur is as powerful as any other person you can think of, if he can make his interest neutral. Your so called powerful politicians are as powerful as Mr Shakur can allow them to be. What they can do at most is to offer him incentives or threaten him. If he decides to forgo the incentives and withstand the threats, then your so called powerful politicians are reduced to rubber stamps, with the exception of very very few, which he would be compelled to oblige.

Let us not take this issue of 'godfatherism' too far. There is a limit to it for a one who is bold enough to activate it. If Mr Shakur is a bold and courageous breed, then he can exercise that limit, make no mistakes about that.

well...about the godfather thing, giving slots to people is not just about how powerful the politician is. in a situation of limited slots the question the recruiter may ask himself is how grateful would that godfather be for what I did and how can he help me in future. one good turn deserves another, otherwise all man for himself. smaller connections can even get slots before bigger ones. anybody can be disappointed.

My Sister, I think our experience sometimes informs our opinions.

I could remember when I was seeking admission into the higher institution. I applied for a particular School twice and was twice denied admission. I decided to try another school, and this time my result was poor in the Post UME. I thought all hope was lost, though a friend offered to 'help' me out, as she knows someone who could be of help in the school.

Personally, as I am against anything nepotism, I declined. At the end I got that same admission on merit. If I had accepted the offer I would have long concluded it was the connection that got me the admission. Since then I know of 4 other of mine kinsmen(my immediate younger bro inclusive), who got admission in the same school on merit. Infact, one was admitted on merit despite choosing the school as second choice. And we are talking of a Federal University in the South.

In as much as there is nepotism, but in some places, times and situations, merit still takes precedence. I am saying this from a very solid experience.

Thank God the list is ready, I believe there will be no more alterations. All is set, ...nobody here yet can say his or her name is on the list whether you are connected or not... , only time will tell. We are all potentially successful candidates, unless proven otherwise.

The few successful candidates contacted to update their portals had issues such as missing documents and files belonging to other candidates found on their profile etc. They were further asked to confirm other details like name, class of degree and position applied and were told they would receive a feed back. The same week, the candidates (non-merit) that made it were contacted for confirmation and asked to provide more details.

Portals will be updated when the APLs are ready for pick up.

Factors considered during the final selection process:
1. Two or more candidates were not picked from the same LGA. The one with the highest score was considered.

2. A candidate with an average score of over 70% will be more likely to succeed.

3. If you applied for a position that isn’t related to your discipline, you will be dropped.

4. Masters degree is an advantage

5. Class of degree

6. If you have a relation working in DPR, you will be dropped unless you have a strong backing.

7. Children of retired staff will most likely considered. Only about 10% made it to the interview on merit.
