If the personnel of the Nigerian Army are not called to order, this situation might repeat itself in another dimension. The Nigerian army in Osisioma and its environs have become a terror to the people of Osisioma. Extorting motorists, okada operators and even involves in Bunkering of pipelines close to Osisioma NNPC Depot. They torture, maim, and brutalizes harmless citizens when you raise an eyebrow over their misdemeanors. I used to love soldiers but my attitude has changed to hating them due to what we face daily in the hands of soldiers in Osisioma and its environs.

But on another hand...the jurisdiction of the army is within their barracks, unless deployed to town in the event of marshal law....

The town belongs to the police. And the military, when within town are to follow rules and regulation and comply with directives as given by the police....but due to so many years of military rule the military are yet to know their place.....


This would have been a beautiful opportunity for the IGP to petition the senate on the excesses of the military and have them put to order.....and begin to make them compliant with the rules and regulations of civil society...........but unfortunately.......he is currently at logger heads with them....


None the less the senate together with the executive need to take this up as its becoming a reoccurring event

The first mistake is keeping soldiers on the streets. A soldier has a different lifestyle and perspective from that of a policeman and civilian until he is discharged from the military, reoriented and reintegrated into a civil society.
