My doctor stopped mine at 18 weeks after scan but methinks as soon as placenta takes over at 12/13 weeks, baby will be fine. Quite Painful injection though

He actually did a great scan at 12weeks, baby measured 12weeks 4 days that was why he asked me to stop.

from baby no 1 i had swollen leg, i was asked to reduce salt intake, and always place my leg on a stool when sitting, this might help.

I just did mine this morning (3rd scanning though), but today's own showed the gender.

Progesterone injection is usually stopped at the 12th week by then placenta will have taken over hence no need for prog again. Just stopped mine this weekend @ week 12, same thing with my first.

Ok then. When I was on it, I asked my Dr if there was an overdose of it or any harmful effect to the baby from using it for a long period, he said no.

I also asked Dr Google and didn't see any harmful effects. For my peace of mind, I continued till 35 weeks though I was closely monitored by the Drs.

I had bled at 6 weeks and 8 weeks and also had pre term contrations at 34, 35 and 36 weeks.

I lost a beloved friend and sister who died during childbirth on Wednesday cos of a doctors oversabi. During the CS, the doctor noticed she had fibroids & decided to remove them. Note it was an unplanned surgery and it's totally risky doing both procedures without proper planning & preparations for it. Long story short, she lost so much blood & died. A lady that waited long to get married and even to get pregnant. Today is her burial. The baby developed some issues during the process of trying to resuscitate the mother but baby is presently in ICU...

PLEASE have a proper discussion with ur doctor b4 embarking on a double surgery & be sure he knows what he's doing. I had same but I had proper discussions beforehand. Above all TRUST in God to perfect it all for you. it's so sad.

I'm 9weeks + 3days pregnant, I read abt progesterone injection here today, can anyone explain if it is important to take this injection cos I am using a primary health care centre for antenatal and I haven't heard of progesterone injection b4, I've been using folic acid and other normal vitamin n mineral supplements alone. Please sabi mamas is it compulsory to take the progesterone injection.

Hi ma'am, it's not compulsory to take the progesterone injection. It is only prescribed where there is a threatened miscarriage or previous miscarriage (in my case) to sustain the pregnancy during the first trimester until the placenta fully takes over.
